Well this was an odd one indeed. Die Hard on a boat as it is often referred to and premise is a pretty cool one, although The Rock did it much better a few years later but I guess overall its not the worst action movie ever made, it has the odd moments but the lead just doesnt have the charisma or charm to sell the whole thing like a Die Hard or Lethal Weapon movie of similar times. In fact Seagal's "character" is the least friendly and likeable guy on the boat and he's meant to be the hero, lol. What elevates it though is Tommy Lee Jones, in full Two Face mode, and Gary Busey who are both let off the chain to seeming say and do whatever they want and somehow it works. I feel for poor Erika Eleniak though, who is treated pretty poorly by the characters and feels written by a 12 year old again but I guess it was just that way a bit like that at that time of movies this was made, anyway I hope she got a fat paycheck and she did what she could with what little she was given.

One of many 90s action movies that would have been so much better if they had just cast a real lead actor instead of a guy who could punch and kick reasonably well. The premise is great (even if it is a diehard clone) and it’s probably Seagal’s most watchable performance. But he’s so upstaged by Jones and Busey that he’s just kinda there to talk low and kill guys when needed.

I was listening to the How Did This Get Made podcast episode on Timecop recently and Jason talked about how much better that movie could have been if they had just cast a Kurt Russell in the lead. And he was so right. There was no reason to cast Van Damme in that role except to capitalize on the new action star they were trying to create. But the hero didn’t need to have magnificent kicking and split skills. He just needed to be a convincing badass DC cop (which Van Damme couldn’t pull off). Seagal I would say is convincing enough in Under Siege but imagine this movie with a more charismatic lead who can actually trade some cool barbs with the villains and has some chemistry with the other heroes.

I was honestly expecting the worst going into this and while I'm sure it won't be everybody I actually had a pretty good time with it. I love the original film and they definitely make some questionable choices from the beginning but Sandler atleast seemed like he was having fun for the most part and I got some good laughs from the random camoes.

A pretty harmless and cute live action remake. I doubt I'll ever watch it again like most of these, but it was pretty entertaining and the little girl playing Lilo is one of the most adorable kids ever. Her scenes with Stitch were easily the best parts of the movie IMO and adapted really well from the animated film which I've always liked but never loved.

A pretty solid entry in the franchise but it's also kind of forgettable for the most part. The fight/martial arts scenes are solid but I was expecting a bit more from this in the end. As a fan of the franchise I was mostly satisfied with it although I'm honestly not surprised it didn't do better at the BO.

Has some good sequences and moments, but the story is very messy and at times incoherent, and a lot of the clunky dialogue feels improvised, like the script wasn't finished. It was great to see the original trinity back together though.
