Oh god, not here, too!

I loved Gerard Butler in 300 as much as the next guy, but way to ruin a good thing with your constant "Gerard Butler would be perfect for _____!"
People used to do it with Johnny Depp all the time.

If there´s a superhero that would be good for something kiddie friendly and even nostalgic, to me it´d be Shazam. I´d give it a timeless feel, like Batman, but in a nostalgic, almost idealized way.

Like I said in the other Shazam thread.....

I've got it. Rob Riggle from the Daily Show. He's big, He looks the part and he can do the tongue-in-cheek stuff a movie like this would call for.

I think ANY developement of a SHAZAM movie would have to dance all around Superman. With Superman: Man of Steel planned for 2009, I dont see SHAZAM happening before 2010. I hope Im wrong. I would LOVE to see this movie happen.

I just dont think WB would allow this movie to, in any way, interfere with Superman. They would make drastic changes if necessary, even changing Cap's powers, before allowing it to interfere with Superman.

It's a shame because I think Captain Marvel is an awesome hero. Im a Superman fan but I also have always liked Cap.

I would also like to see:

Mary Marvel
No Junior
Black Adam

No Mr. Mind.
Silvana

Cap take apart a giant robot sent by Silvana

The only way for the movie to meet with any success is for there to be a lot of action.

This guy should definitely NOT play the part of SHAZAM

I think someone's already suggested him but what about Patrick Warburton? I heard on IMDB their talking about the rock!?!? :wow:

Haha. White people don't like it when their white characters are portrayed by non-whites... it takes away part of what helps them identify with the character. Even as a non-white myself, I'm not THAT pressed, but The Rock can't really pass for white, and Captain Marvel is supposed to be a little white boy that grows into a big white man. That kinda small town bumpkinness is thrown off when you add in non-whiteness.

That said, the Rock would OWN as Black Adam, and I think he'd enjoy the role quite a bit.

Now, with Captain Marvel not being a thoroughly deep character, I think John Cena can actually pull it off. I've seen the Marine, and let me tell you, his acting skill isn't that deep, but Captain Marvel doesn't require much acting skill, it requires a big build, a big smile and a square jaw, and some stunt work... Cena can do that, honestly. I'd enjoy seeing him as the big red cheese...

"Captain Marvel" isn't about Cap... it's about Billy. It's important to get a skilled child actor for Billy (not to be confused with a teenage actor), but Cap is a big cheesy superhero, and honestly, based on the Marine and his wrestling performances, John Cena can do that in his sleep.

Two wrestling guys in one superhero film? I dont think that would work. Also, I dont think the story should be all about Billy. I would rather see more Captain Marvel and less Billy. .................and NO Junior.

But MARY!, Let's see MARY.

I think some people make too much of a big deal about race. However, I do think Namor should be played by an Asian (preferably Japanese) due to the physical characters, facially, that could be made with Hollywood tech.

New Line Cinema is producing this film, not WB.

For this statement, I will beat you over the head with a wet fish.

Seriously though, there is a lot more to movies than just a lot of action. I won't deny that action will help, but there is plenty of stuff beyond action that needs to be there in order for this to be a good film.

Just action = bad. Look at Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, and you'll see what I mean (MIA plot, and forgot that FFVII was an ensemble cast).

Action + Good Characters + Good plot and story = SHAZAM! (I hope).

That film was tailored for fans of the game. Even with that it still rates a 7.6 out of 10 over at IMDb. I thought it was a pretty good movie - very entertaining.

You do realise that had it lacked the name Final Fantasy VII, it would've died faster than you can say Shazam?

And while I do admit it was entertaining, for me, it felt really... lame. The last scene at the end (reminiscent of a baptism) seemed completely out of place for the entire movie. The scoring was horrendous, not to mention that there was really only two characters who got any real screentime (Cloud and Tifa). Vincent gets some, but the others...

I think you see my point. To each their own, I guess.

But, I do digress. Best to stay on topic.

Was that really necessary?

I'm not sure how. I said before, as a minority myself, I'd be pretty pissed if I went to buy the comics of a character like me only to find out it's some silly white boy.

Where's that button again?:woot:

The silly white boy thing was unnecessary too.

Brandon Molale / Captain Marvel

Haley Joel Osment / Billy Batson

Armin Shimerman / Dr. Sivana

No Osment. Please. He looks like he's in a perpetual sneer.

But, the other two are good (Molale and Shimerman). I can see that happening.

Completely agree. Great choices except Osment.

Keep that drugie away from Capt Marvel.
