^ Mr. Johnson have been officially cast as Black Adam.

As far as the Rock as Black Adam, well, that depends entirely upon how they wanna use him. If they choose to go with the original interpretation of him, being pretty much your cookie cutter villain, then I'm sure Mr. Johnson could pull it off. If they choose to go with the tortured soul of recent years. The one you almost feel sorry for if he weren't so damn terrifying? Well, I don't know. Now, the Rock has come a long way in his acting abilities since his WWF/WWE days, but I haven't seen him show the type of depth needed to play a role like that. That is of course, IF they choose to go that route with Black Adam. Course, if they don't use the current characterization of Black Adam, I see no reason why they shouldn't just use SABBAC and save us the trouble of b***hing about it.

The Rock is doofy enough for Captain Marvel, personally I do not think he can pull off Black Adam acting wise. Yes he have the look but that's it.
Vin Diesel would be outstanding for the tortured soul Black Adam IMHO.

Vin Diesels not good for anything except loaning a deep voice

Arnold Voosloo is a good casting but he has to get into better shape.

Oded Fehr is a decent choice but not ideal

Yeah, Vin Diesel wouldn't work either. In fact, I think he'd be even more wrong for the role than the Rock would be. I don't know, Mr. Johnson is going to be Black Adam, I'll give him a shot. Who knows, he may surprise us....or completely ruin the movie.

Yea and we right now have no clue if this film is actually going to be rolling on camera any time soon. Since the script writer is back up with other scripts since the wga strike ended and the director is working on a couple different films so this isnt likely to happen i say for probably 3 yrs at the earliest. Since right now with robinov's dc slate comments they want batman 3, superman reboot are top properities to go right now along with two other characters and it will probably be gl/ga or flash/ww(probably less likely these two since developments have been stalled on them for a long while).

MAN! no love for Vin :csad:

Hey! Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Billy Batson and the Legend of Shazam a New Line Cinema project not WB?

Its still a dc comics propertity under warner bros and as above poster stated new line is part of the WB family now.

Eh.....at this stage, The Rock schools Vin Diesel in the acting department. Dwayne Johnson has improved at about the same rate Vin Diesel has regressed into one-note hack.

I'll co-sign that assessment, Keyser.

Johnson may not be about to win a best actor oscar anytime soon but there's alot more to his repetoir than some give him credit for.

At the moment, anything he does owns Diesel's one-note growling delivery.

I actually think the casting of Johnson as Black Adam is a good move.

OK New Line Cinema fall under the WB umbrella but they operate independently of the parent company do they not?
If so, Why should a Superman Reboot and Batman 3 film have any effect on the release of a Shazam film?

I don't think Dwayne Johnson owns anyone acting wise but I see where you dudes are coming from and I agree to disagree. :word:

I'm no studio head (I know you guys are like "Thank the gods" lol) and my choices in cast members have zero effect on the production.
In my film Captain Marvel: Dwayne Johnson Black Adam: Vin Diesel.
I've always loved Arnold Vosloo for Black Adam but for a multi film franchise I think Vin Diesel would be a better choice.
Luckily Dwayne Johnson has listened to you guys and chose to play Black Adam. :cwink:
I'm open-minded towards whom ever to play Captain Marvel just as long as it is NOT Routh or my SUPERMAN: Tom Welling. :hehe:

Y'know........................now that you mention it - Welling does seem perfect for Captain Marvel!!!!! OMG!!!!

Certainly, he's more suited to CM than he is to Supes.

Relax - I'm joking

;) :D

Sorry man, I couldnt resist - it's just anytime I see a comment that could potentially ignite a tired 'Routh vs Welling' arguement in a thread that's not related to either of them (or Superman for that matter), well; it get's the better of me.

^ :lmao:

Sorry I have SR issues :o and I forgot to add Jake Gyllenhaal and Brandon Frasier along with Routh and Welling.

Lolz.

You arent alone - sadly, there are a lot of people with SR issues nowadays.

Anywhoo, I just found this comparison pic.

Who's this Brandon Molale guy? I mean, physically, he seems perfect - but I've never heard of him and I've no idea if he could handle the dramatic side of the role.

But damn, he looks the part - look at that face! the smile, the eyebrows!!

Ever seen Mr. Deeds? The football player who gets his ass whipped by his daddy for cussin' in front of a lady? That guy.

Well the reason we are likely not to get shazam for awhile is first the writer is back up with many scripts after the WGA ended earlier this year. Then a few weeks back robinov said that wb's plans for dc slate for the next four yrs is batman 3, superman reboot, and two other characters and they are likely to be ga/gl since they have alot going on script wise, possibly flash/ww but development has been stalled on them for awhile. So we will have to wait and hear what are the other films when they official release their dc slate in the next month or so.

The Rock looks more like Black adam but I dont think he could pull it off at all. I actually think he could pass as Captain marvel. Nothing special, but he could do the job.

I feel like casting Brandon Molale is like casting that Steve Rogers guy as Captain America. He may look the part but if he cant act than why even consider him. I dont thinks outrageous to have problems casting Blazer from Dodgeball

I actually have confidence that Molale could be up for the role of Cap. I think now, WB is trying to get all unknowns for their leads in their DC properties. For cheap and so they can sign them for sequels and such. Hopefully the guy get's the role!

Who says Molale cant act? And is his acting that much worse than Johnsons acting? How about giving the guy a chance?

Also how about giving Johnson a chance to show that he can be Black Adam. Just because he smiles a lot and seems like a nice guy doesn't mean he should be Captain Marvel.

Neither are impressive. But Johnson has actually done some stuff that he was very entertaining based on the fact that he was a nice guy who could kick ass.

Molale has just stood around and looked big. Who says Molale can act? Have you seen something I havent or something that has actually featured him prominently?

I dont believe in making suggestions of unknowns on mutli-million dollar summer blockbusters based on long standing, fan-based characters.

Ill give him a chance when its official since he hopefully wowed them in auditions and obviously looks the part but as far as dreamcasting I am anti-Molale. I dont think its an illogical stance to have

I never said he could act, but he hasn't shown that he can't either. He hasn't been given a chance.

Well, before we actually get somebody cast as the big red Cheese, what kinda Capn' Marv are we looking for? Are we looking for the boy trying to act like an adult version? Or the one that's a pure Superhero that already knows what to do and how to do it? I figure if you're gonna do the latter, then Morale, or even Johnson could probably pull it off with ease. If we're talking the former, and we're talking about a movie that explores some darker themes as the DC execs seem to want, then can either pull that off? This Orphan thrust into a world he may not be ready for. Having to come to the realization that he cannot save everyone. Like that scene in that Superman/Power of Shazam mini from a couple of years ago were Billy's friend gets killed and he totally breaks down and can't handle it. It's the version that probably has more depth. The hard role. If that's the case, can either of them fit the bill?
