Superboy Welling versus Superboy looking Superman Routh

:woot:

No i dont have links off hand but if you search on information on sigels wife and daugther and about the whole copyright case information you can find alot of information on the siegels and what is the whole thing going no with the copyright case and who will own what come 2013 if shuster's heir gains the other percent to the copyright.

>YAWN<

Bash Routh and promote Welling at any given opportunity, eh BB?

It's all getting so very, very tired.

Wrong forum too, Billy. For shame. :cwink:

Yeah I've been malfunctioning that way for awhile now, it's just about out my system. I 'll be SR hate free after the New Year. :cwink:

To all you Warner Bros fans Tonight 9/13/08 9pm on PBS American Masters Documentary of the motion picture company.

yeah, I'm looking forward to that thing on PBS. There is a good segment on the 1978 Superman on it.

I'm guessing that Billy will be a new kid actor no one's ever seen before, like Radcliffe in HP or the girl in Golden Compass.
Although there's something I've noticed on casting threads for teen movies like Teen titans or Runaways. A lot of the casting suggestions are actors in their 20's, or just way too old for the part, because most of the talented teen actors that would fit those roles (as well as working kid actors who could play Billy Batson) are currently on shows on Nickelodeon or the Disney channel, which no matter how good an actor you may be is a huge blow to your geek cred.

when there is news coming from DC/Warners, they never seem to bring Captain Marvel up. Has plans for a Shazam/Captain Marvel been shelved?

Yeah, the in the next few yrs its lookin like Batman 3, Superman Reboot, Green Lantern, and Jonah Hex with Josh Brolin

I hope this movie is getting shelved. Not discriminating against captain marvel or anything. They just announced that Get Smart is getting sequels... and I can only assume Peter Segal is going to direct them.

There's been no info re:Shazam after that WB meeting about planning out their movies and creating a "single universe" that all characters were in. Considering Captain Marvel won't be in their Justice League movie, this movie probably got moved way down on their priority list.

That could be a good thing though. It will either give them more time to find the right actor for Captain Marvel or will give Molale time to beef up his acting creds.

I'll take Watchmen, Green Lantern, The Caped Crusader, Superman Reboot, and Supermax all day long. Shazam will come much, much later if at all.

Shazam would be a very differrent superhero movie it could be very awsome if done right

..why no headway? If Routh gets bounced from Superman he could always be cap..

Right now, I think WB is picturing Shazam as its kid friendly franchise to replace Harry Potter. Or at least it's probably being looked at as one of the possibilities. It really wouldn't surprise me if we shouldn't be expecting something before Winter 2012.

Even though I dont watch Harry Potter, they seem to have pretty good tone and atmosphere. It seems it would be labeled kid-friendly but still be a regular PG13 comic flick.

Just trolling through :cwink:, still NO news on this project proceeding or not.? :csad:

Captain Marvel Moves to Warner Bros.
Source:Variety
November 20, 2008

Variety reports that Get Smart director Peter Segal and his Callahan Filmworks partner Michael Ewing have signed a three-year first-look deal with Warner Bros. Pictures.

As part of the deal, Warner Bros. has also acquired the John August-scripted Captain Marvel; Segal will direct the DC Comics adaptation. He and Ewing began working on the film two years ago at New Line, but the property has moved over to Warner Bros.

The film tells the story of teenaged Billy Batson, who transforms into the superhero when he says the word "Shazam!"

Call me cynical, but I don't know if this is going to work out. Maybe there's a lot to the Captain Marvel mythology that I've been missing out on, but the concept seems hard to sell just as a comic, let alone a feature film.

Have you read any of the comics?

As I've said, I've missed out on the comics detailing his story. The closest I've come to reading a Captain Marvel tale is Kingdom Come, which used him pretty effectively.

Sorry, I missed that part, shoulda read more closely.

If written well, he has a very magical feel to him. The idea is similar to Thor, only substitute the crippled doctor for a kid. It's a great idea and could translate well on screen in the hands of a good writer, But I personally don't think John August is the right guy.
