So my buddy and I decide to hang out for the weekend since we both had both days off and since it's cold out right now, we agreed to just chill at my place. He brought over his MAC and I busted out my PC, laptop and tablet. We had enough beer for the weekend and 200 plus blu-rays, 150 DVD's, Netflix and my PS3. Good weekend right? So we're hanging out and I'm telling him about SHH. So I start showing him some of the cool stuff I've found here and some of my posts and I tell him that he should join in the fun. Once I suggested that he was like, "nah, not for me." I'm like what are you talking about? You love all this stuff as much as I do. Then he tells me that he wouldn't join because of the abuse of power. Once those words came out of his mouth I asked him to pause and I went to get me another cold beer. Then I asked him to continue. So he starts going on how he knows of other people that have been on here and got kicked out or banned for no reason and blah blah blah. My response was, well if you're not doing anything wrong then you have no reason to worry, right? Then he drops it on me. With a straight face he says,"plus I would rather be on facebook."

Now, before I go on, I must admit I myself have a facebook. Not necessarily because I want to but because of my work and who I am and all that stuff. Anywho, I almost spit my beer out when he said that so I come back with facebook? Are you kidding me? The cocaine of the new generation? He's like, "it's not addictive dude, SHH just sucks and I don't like it." So then we get to going back and forth. You sucks. this sucks. That sucks. Your ex sucks. Your taste in clothing sucks. Star Trek sucks no Star Wars sucks. And on and on and on.

Point is...I don't get it. Why would you choose a place like facebook over SHH where it's not only forums, it's updates on comics, movies and just about everything else. Facebook to me is just so...let's see who reaches 10 billion friends first. They wanted to be different than the previous popularity contest (myspace) and it's become just that.

So now my question to you. If you had to give one up or if you could only access one site for 2012, SHH or facebook which one would it be? One site only. You could not go back. I myself would go with SHH. Lord knows I've had facebook for a few years but I really can't stand the thing lol.

how does he know about an "abuse of power" if he's not familiar with the site?

haha

I'd give up Facebook, and I'd have no problem doing it either. I spend the majority of my time on the hype and only check out facebook every once in a while anyway.

I tried to keep the conversation short but he showed me a few youtube videos about people complaining about them being banned and a few rants on other forums :yay:

I myself would give up facebook in a second! Knowing what some people are doing every second of every one of their hours is stalker like.

there was a guy... and he deserved to be banned. i've seen the videos

that's all i will say.

PM me the links, please!!! I have to see this!

I have a VERY strong facebook presence, but to be honest a lot of what I see and post on here I take over there and vice versa - as well as YouTube, Twitter, Tumblr, emails, chat, etc etc. To me, the Hype is just another Social Networking media... just geared more towards nerds (and I mean that as a term of endearment).

Honestly, saying "I take facebook over the hype" is just as stupid as saying "I prefer skype to YouTube". Although you CAN get an overlap of information, they have very distinct differences in purpose.

I prefer teh Facebook, only because we over at the TDKR forums already set up Facebook groups made up of Hype members, for when the boards crash. :hehe: We've already taken advantage of that several times so far. :oldrazz:

My favorite part of SHH is when posters get banned for being complete and utter disasters and they can't get over it. They keep coming back again and again creating mundane threads about absolutely nothing logical using name after name.

This is why noobs shouldn't create threads.

Someone took their temper tantrum to YouTube? To the video, Bob!

This spring comes an epic tale of two friends readying themselves for the ride of their lives... one weekend... 200 plus Blu-Rays... and lots of beer! These best friends start out in pure euphoria, despite one having a PC; the other a Mac... but it all goes horribly wrong when one of them mentions his activity on an infamous superhero message board. Secrets, betrayal and a fight to the e-death - THE HYPE vs FACEBOOK - coming soon to no theater near you. This film is rated N for Nerd; cool people, strongly cautioned.

People are addicted to Facebook.
I am in film school. You'd think that people who go to film school and pay a lot of money would pay attention in class....nope. I would say half of my class is on Facebook during.

A bunch of faceless people that I'm probably going to never meet who discuss ad nauseum every frame of a teaser trailer versus a bunch of girls with father issues and low self esteem?

Wow. That's a tough one.

:hehe:

I'd give up the Hype. I've got the number and/or Facebook of the people I really know.

And the news on here will almost always be on like, 20 other sites.
