Should MOS incorporate the motion streak/blur? - Not Related to Smallville

I noticed in SR they really didn't make use of this effect. I've also liked in the old Superman films, TAS, and Lois and Clark how in flight or even in running we would see the streak of color. It is not the most difficult effect to use, but I think it is a very effective one.

As for the actual effect, I'm pretty disappointed SR ignored it. When he flew at super speed, you could see the entire form of his body. It just looked less cool missing the streaks :-/

yes, but not too stylized. it should look somewhat realistic. a big blue blur with realistic motion blurring would be cool, but i don't think he should leave behind a blue trail or anything.

Maybe when SV ends, since Cavill is Superman, Tom could have a continuation series called "Superblur" The way his logic works on the show, even with Booster spelling it out by saying "Super..." for the beginning of a hero name. He might go "hmm what goes with Super? I know! People know me as the blur! Superblur, yes me so smart"

Only when he's moving at ridiculous speeds. Otherwise, no. I've seen jet fighters slice through the air with no blur, doesn't take away it's amazing visuals.

As George Lucas would say (yes I'm referencing his opinion ) even if grounding some things in realism, it doesn't hurt to go with the romantic version. He talked about this when having Yoda's robe flow in a certain way. The cgi developers were making it a realistic version, but Lucas felt visually it didn't work for the moment.

I think SR got it backwards. They made an unrealistic story of a superhero, but then did the superpowers in a bland less "romantic" way. I think the story should be solid and have some real world nods, but the powers should be a little more fantastic for visual effect as we've seen in past incarnations.

Ya in a cinematic event with a superhero, considering the flashiness of modern comics you'd hope they can give cool visuals for effects. I don't know why that would be a bad thing for Superman. Batman doesn't have powers, so grounding him in realism was a more suitable choice. I hope they blow us away with heat vision, speed, flight, freeze breath, and make some "whoa!" moments in the theatre.

Dude, when I read the title on this thread, I thought it was some trolling bait post concerning incorporating Smallville's bull **** "blur" into Snyder's flick!

We got three episodes to the Smallville finale and he is still called the freaking "blur"!?!!!!!

Anyway, back on topic, wasn't that what they were going to do in one of the Burton or Cage versions of Superman?
If I recall correctly, no one would see Superman flying at any time, so there would be no real flying scenes because all you would see would be a blur.
It would be a cop out if they tried to pull a fast one like that in this day and age.

I was coming in here to curse that idea as well.

A blur effect would be cool in certain moments. I'd like them to push visual effects that we've not seen in a Superman cinematic feature as of yet... which kinda leaves a lot of room for new big screen implementations.

This type of blur from Superman 2 is still effective and the triumphant score helps a lot.

Those are the only moments that really stick out to me. Other times have that Matrix ripple/wave effect that I'm not too fond of, but that's usually when then show people run. If there is more of a blur effect, it'll likely be whenever Clark or someone comes to/leaves the scene. As for No Ordinary Family, I don't know of any online galleries for screencaps.

Other than the flashback, did Superman use super speed at all in SR? I can't remember.
