Should Punisher get a TV show

I agree with past supporting character suggestions. Have him appear across all currently-lined up shows and once those are over, spawn a Phase Two-type and have him in there.

I think the Punisher doesn't belong in the shared Marvel movie verse. He'd do much better as a stand alone show on HBO where he can be as dark and brutal and the show runners want.

Really? Because Daredevil seems to be going very dark and brutal whilst still remaining in the MCU. This is not going to have the same restrictions as the movies or Agents of Shield.

Punisher and Blade both should get tv shows. Marvel should actually consider a Midnight Sons tv show. Ghost Rider, Blade, Punisher, and...........forgot the 4th guy but they've all had movies and had moderate success so they are household names so why not keep them in the public's mind? I know Marvel/Disney don't want to do R rated movies but what about tv shows? Daredevil is already dark so why not go darker with Midnight Sons?

The Punisher would make a great non-PG tv show. I am a big Punisher guy, but I do not believe that his character or storylines are "big" enough for a movie.

He absolutely should get his own T.V. show, a Netflix TV show of course. But like many others have already stated they should give him a few cameo's in the current line up of Netflix shows. Then allow him to hit the ground running in his own eventually.

As for Blade and Ghost Rider, I think that their mystical abilities would fit better in Dr. Strange's world as opposed to them slumming in Hell's Kitchen.

Agree. Daredevil and Punisher are anti-mob or crime level characters. Blade and Ghost Rider are more mystical/fantasy.

I would prefer a tv show. But his stories are big enough for a movie if done well. Look at The Equalizer.

Yes. And in a perfect world he should be played by Kiefer Sutherland. I remember there being(very brief) talk of Kiefer playing Namor several years back but I always thought he was better suited for Frank Castle. Seems like a no brainer to me.

Keifer Sutherland?

I feel like the look of the character is important for Frank Castle. Like Superman, he doesn't wear a mask, so whoever portrays him hasn't to have a certain look. It's not the only thing, but I feel it's more important for Frank than a character like Batman or Spider-Man. I can't see Keifer ever looking like Frank Castle.

I don't agree about Punisher having enough juice to go in a movie being the star, like what happened in the movie where Thomas Jane was The Punisher. It would be hard to make a Punisher movie because it can end up being a generic action movie again.

They don't really explore the character that well in Thomas Jane and Warzone Punisher movies. Frank Castle in the Jane movie is just a guy on a revenge mission because his family was murdered Stevenson's Punisher didn't go any deeper into the character as well.

Frank Castle isn't the most conflicted character in comics but he does have an interesting psychology that hasn't really been explored in any of the movies. The 89 Punisher movie that some people hate did a better job at having characters confront Frank about his choices and ideology than the last two movies did.

I've been saying for a while in phase 2 of the Netflix shows, I'd like Daredevil 2nd season, The Punisher, Heroes for Hire, and Blade as the shows.

Frank Castle would probably be introduced in season 2 of DD. Then we watch his family get murdered by the Kingpin when he gets out of prison and watch Frank spiral out of control.

It's a good idea only if they retell the source material and not try to make Frank their own creation. I swear if I read that he is gonna be another ex cop.....

I don't mind him being an ex cop depending on how they do it.

I think you can have him be a cop who also is a recent veteran coming back and returning to his job as a cop.

I don't think that would be bad.

The veteran part is a must. Frank being a cop isn't really necessary. I prefer Frank and his family just happen to be at the wrong place, at the wrong time.

For me he has to be ex special forces. Used to doing black ops and assassinations for the government. It has got to be part of his psyche that sometimes the ends justify the means and you need to go beyond the law. Sometimes to the point where you are not sure anymore who the bad guy is.
When his family is killed he reverts to that mind set and launches all out war on crime. Partly because it's what he knows but partly because it's all he has left. If he didn't he would probably put the gun in his mouth and blow his own brains out.
Part of the story can be other people trying to help him out of this mindset. They either fail or are killed along the way. Driving him deeper.

Around what age would you like Frank to be? Obviously they're not going to make him the accurate age of a Nam vet, but I'd like to see him still energetic, but a bit older than Matt. Also, I'd like it if he's been running around for a bit and only, as we dip deeper into the underbelly of New York, do we start to notice patterns that show he's been around for a while.

Yeah but it probably won't happen. I'd love for it to and Marvel should jump at the chance because these guys had movies that did decent, especially Blade so they should consider bringing back Wesley Snipes for Blade and do SOMETHING with him before people forget all about the character. Blade, Ghost Rider, and Punisher have had numerous comic run ins and teamed up together so why not now?

The Daredevil producer has recently stated, as well as Cox, that they'd love the Punisher to show up in season 2. Hopefully it happens.

It should happen. I actually wanted the guy who is playing Crossbones in Captain America to play the Punisher. Dude is perfect for the role.

Ex Marine.

If he's going to be a marine make him a Navy Seal at least. He has to be special forces. Someone who has done black ops has worked with Shield and knows who they are. He has to be the best at what he does. Not standard infantry.

Late 30's. We want him around for a few years. But he should have been hitting retirement from his military career.

I wish that was the lineup for the first set of series. I've thought that AKA, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist could have been combined into one show, saving the two other Netflix show spots for Punisher and Blade, or Blade and Cloak/Dagger, or Blade and Moon Knight (with Punisher a background character among all the shows until he gets his own). But Blade and Punisher are musts at some point soon.
