Scarlet Witch's powers were redefined a lot in the comics.

I remember playing the marvel super heroes roleplaying game in the 90s. In those rules, Scarlet Witch had probability manipulation powers AND six or seven magic spells taught to her by Agatha Harkness. So I assume at that time the official version was that she could do both - use her mutant ability (manipulate the likelihood of events) and do real magic. I think in the comics they explained that her mutant power wasn't identical, but very similar in nature to what magic does, so it was easy for her to learn true magic.

However, since then the character has been retconned a lot, and she wasn't portrayed as a magic user in Age of Ultron, so sofar I'd say there's nothing to connect her with Dr. Strange.

Its actually even messier than that. Her powers have been retconned and redefined a *lot*, often yo-yoing in terms of their connection to magic.

So far seems like Dr Strange is going to just be a standalone origin story. I'm really hoping for a short scene (Like falcon in ant man) to somehow tie this film into the greater MCU. Really hoping Scarlet Witch appears but no news on any cameos so far

I'd rather she didn't. At least not in the 1st movie. Maybe in a possible sequel.

My preference is to not have her in this movie. I will say that, after Civil War, I don't hold that position as strongly, though.

I am very open to any characters making an appearance in any mcu film as long as it adds to the story telling. However I don't think we will see any other present mcu character appearing in dr strange. perhaps only in end credit scenes

I couldn't see her showing up in anything but a post-credits tease, and I doubt even that.

Yeah, I agree. It wouldn't make much sense, her role in the post-credits scene is to recruit Strange. Persuade him to join the Avengers.

Since this is an origins movie after all.

I'd love to see her ask him for help disciplining her mind to better control her powers as well as inviting him to join the secret avengers

Depends if the main villain (possessing Kaecilius) in Doctor Strange is Chthon. He maybe reveals himself with the "death and pain" speech, have you noticed how there is no energy around Kaecilius's hands in the trailer?

If Wanda's powers were indeed unlocked by the scepter/mind stone (and Pietro's speed powers strongly imply this), given to Loki by The Other, (in the comics always an alias/agent/spy operated by or acting on behalf of Chthon), then something more complex is afoot. Chthon is plotting against Thanos.
Thanos intends to use the Infinity Gauntlet to wipe out life.
Chthon intends to use Wanda to wipe out all order by destroying the Infinity Stones with a Chaos Wave (a full-powered version of what we saw when Pietro died).

In the comics Chthon very cleverly hid her chaos magic under her more science based powers. No one understands Chaos Magic, aside from Chthon, Shuma-Gorath, and Agatha Harkness.

Strange's powers are driven by knowledge, Wanda's are driven by emotion. Stephen is going to struggle to wrap his brain around that.

If the Big Bad is Dormammu, then we probably won't see Wanda at all, not even in the post-credits.
