Should the transformation process (from CK to Superman) remain traditional?

I think some people were mentioning this transformation

In all honesty, this is the transformation for Superman I've been dreaming with since like 1995. And the suit too.

Starting with the S symbol, it only lacks of a shirt rip which is perfectly able to be added.

If done right, that'd be a badass moment. I can already imagine a teaser being intercut with scenes of the suit covering Clak's body.

I wouldn't mind something like that. But in honesty, for a dramatic shirt rip, I'd establish already that the suit grows on his skin, or something to that effect. Then, during the big battle, Zod would attack Clark, as Clark and throw him quite a ways away. The camera then slowly pans around Clark, his clothing torn, we see glimpses of the blue underneath, and when he is fully stood up, he rips open his shirt and reveals the \S/.
I'd take advantage of Snyder's preference for slow-mo, and showcase a mid-air transformation sequence. That would be ridiculously awesome.

There was a shirt rip in the panel just prior:

...we'll see.. I'd like to see a falling from a building transformation like in the first film..

Superman the Movie.

A transformation sequence Id like to see is Clark Kent flying at an enemy and getting blasted by an energy weapon or whatever and coming out the other side in the super suit.

The shirt rip means absolutely nothing to me. I'm all up for the nano-tech suit. I mean for the love of god, Kal-El is an alien from an advanced civilization. Why would he need to carry his suit around (at the risk of being exposed)? It also helps explain why the suit is never damaged by fire, bullets, collisions, etc.

If this is the route that Snyder/Nolan/Goyer are taking, I'll be more than pleased.

This is even perfecter.

This is exactly what I've been saying since forever.

You have the shirt rip and then Kryptonian technology - something that's been incorporated to the story since its beginning (spaceship that takes Kal-el to Earth) - does the rest. And you get to avoid that cape and boots under shirt and shoes nonsense.

Meh... Kryptonian technology... I'm not really 'pro' all of this. But then again, I'm old fashioned... :whatever:

Yeah I kind of feel 'meh' about the suit being 'activated'... but we'll see, if they do go this route and pull it off well i'm sure it'll be fine. It's not a make or break issue for me.

'Old-Fashion' is one of the big reasons why Superman is no longer 'relevant', and it's the driving force as to why Superman Returns was 'meh' to public.

This Superman has to recapture the general audience's imagination and interest again, and it won't be able to do that by rehashing elements from previous installments.

They wont go for this route in the movie. This sequence was created by Dan Jurgens and approved by DC editorial just few months ago, way after the movie conception. The only alternative would be some reshoot scene to incorporate it, what i dont believe they will do.

Anyway, i think that it really works. A transformation like this directed by Snyder style would kick-ass. Just image a shirt rip, followed by camera moving around Clark Kent while the biotech costume is formed from the symbol to the rest of the body.

Great scene!

A suit manifesting itself through futuristic/alien technology isn't novel, however. Less we forget that GL has had it for decades. It's entirely possible Snyder could implement that method in his series. Especially since he's taken the time to give lots of callbacks to the Kryptonian heritage.

Also, didn't Nolan or Snyder make a few comments regarding Kryptonian technology being utilized in this film for the new or 'modern' approach to Superman?

I'm surprised that noone even suggested that the DCnU Kryptonian Armor Biotech transformation is more like a hard science version of the Clark Kent-to-Superman change from the Reeve films.

Kinda' like Venom, is that what this suit is supposed to be? Could be cool...although some feel that the suit being made by Mom is an essential aspect of Superman being a son of Earth in values and character being what really 'counts, rather than a super-powered alien. But as long as it looks cool, that might be all that really matters.

I am all for trying new things but i really don't like the "nano-tech" suit idea.

I still think the traditional home made suit is yet to be done justice but i believe it can be done well (In live action)

What is Superman's costume in the new 52 series at the moment, why does he have it?

Did he come up with the design for it?

Apparently it's some kind of Kyptonian suit/clothing that was white and as soon as he put it on it turned into the standard costume. Shield and cape included.

I seem to be in the minority here, but it just sounds awful to me.

I seriously doubt they are going this route tho. It'd be a quite heavily sci-fi approach, and it just doesn't seem like that's what they are neccesarily going for. I mean, I know we have Zod and Faora and rumours that they have ship... But we also have the fact that this costume is traditional clothing for neo-medieval kryptonians. And I mean, look at the Jor-el variation of it ... You think he wakes up in the morning, roles out of bed, presses the 's' on his chest and it appears?

I dunno, just doesn't sit right with me.

A Neo-Medievel Krypton doesn't mean they won't be technologically advanced.

I know... But do you think the entire race of krypton does not put on clothes, but dresses using nano tech?

Is that really all that likely?

I just can't see it, personally.
