Should Wonder Woman have a sword in WW1984?

My opinion, but I don't want to influence the voting...

Imho, a demi-goddess does not need weapons (or wings. In some of her new suits they're starting to give her wings as well).

As a warrior for peace, it's not fitting for her to have so many sharp edges; the more recent comic writers are reducing her to a standard hack and slash minion.

Fwiw, she will probably not bear sword or shield in 1984, since 1984 is based on the TV series, wherein she did not have them. They have not shown up in the production footage so far, and frankly they are awkward to encumber the character with when not in use - ergo newer comics have them magically appear only when she needs them.

In the spirit of Nancy Reagan, "just say no" to sword and shield in 1984.

I'm glad the cartoon shows almost never used them.

Personally, no.

Diana is a demigoddess trained by the ultimate Amazon warriors for hundreds or thousands of years in combat. She’s also equipped with indestructible bracelets, an unbreakable lasso and potentially her tiara (which she could wield as a weapon). Diana also has a largely undefined “lightning” power for offensive strikes against major threats and her now iconic mighty “boosh” power.

So, a sword seems unnecessary. But, a sword and shield seem to be part of Diana’s permanent armoury in the DCEU, so I’m expecting to see it return. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if it doesn’t.

People usually see WW lower than superman, but this dceu WW can chop doomsday and slice steppenwolf with her sword, hence strong enough to cut superman.

It would at least be nice to see Diana fight in some scenes without her sword in this movie, and it looks like we might be getting that, judging from filming footage.

But I guess the sword might come back in the end or something especially if she's facing the wrath of Cheetah and her claws (though it would certainly up the tension if they fought hand to hand) or there is a battle involving other warriors and/or Amazons.

Yes the mall can get very crowded, especially on the weekends.

The sword and shield would be available to her whenever she needs it. How come it showed up all of a sudden in BvS? It was probably in her designer luggage when she got off the plane. Maybe she rents a storage locker.

I think she keeps them in her invisible jet. Which we never see, because it’s invisible!
