Shows The Actors Strike Will **** Up

Wouldn't it **** up all of them? I think actors are a prerequisite for fiction on television...

It would not **** them completely. Like say for Stargate Atlantis only three or four actors in that entire show are part of the guild & there are plenty of other characters that can take their place for the time being that have big fan bases & just write out the actors that will be forced to take a vacation. It depends on how many actors & actresses of that show is part of the guild for it to be completely ****ed

Hmm, that's true, I guess any show that features actors from outside the US would be okay. That's what saved Atlantis from the WGA's strike.

Who's in the guild on Atlantis? Probably Joe Flanagan, Robert Picardo, and Jason Momoa, right? I think the rest of them are all Canadian.

I know Joe & Jason & Mitch are part of the guild. David might be as well but no one is sure on that. I know I would love to see Stargate Atlantis without the hero & muscle guy. It would be interesting

Yeah, it would be. I'm curious now. How the hell would they manage to get the back half of this season done without Flanigan, at least?

Just let the entire normal field team get captured and have Lorne set up an entire secondary team to rescue them. That could be cool.

It would be a godsend if that happened. He's the one that ruins the whole show for me. The show totally hangs on it's supporting cast.

If this affects 24, I will be out for blood.

I am praying that this is nipped in the bud before it turns into last season all over again. I swear, if I get only 11 more episodes of Heroes or 13 episodes of Lost, I will kidnap the firstborn of every actor in America, put them all in a napsack and hold them over the fires of Mount Doom.

Last season was fine, whatever, its in the past. But enough is enough.

^Not to mention the Writers at least had a right to b**ch. Actors have no reason to complain. They get paid just fine.

The actors really don't have a leg to stand on With Aftra settling, and in the aftermath of the worst strike in 20 years, (the 88' one didn't do this much damage) no one wants a strike. The film and TV industry lost ten percent of the viewing audience in 88 and another 20-33% this year. 40% of the national TV audience is gone and will never come back.

I study neilsens and I've never seen ratings this small. Even five years ago a top rated show could get 20-25 million viewers. Now that show gets 16-18 million viewers. The audience is eroding, and costs are going up. It now costs $60 million to make a mid list movie like Failure to Launch, while in the 1980s this same movie could have been made for $10-15 million on the high budget and $5-8 million on a low budget.

Hollywood is in a financial crisis. The profit margins for many films has shrunken domestically and now they rely on foriegn and DVD sales to pick up the slack. The studios now make more big movies because they do well internationally; Stuff like Iron Man sells in China and Japan while movies like Akeelah and the bee don't get any business at all.

what does this ,eam for you the viewer? less choice at the box offfice. More superhero movies, more horror movies and more remakes. Ironiclly this is the same formula that bankrupted MGM and Fox in the 70's an overreliance on musicas and three hour epic movies

APTMP and the unions (WGA, DGA, SAG) need to realize how much market share The WGA strike cost them and this isn't twenty years ago. People now have alternatives to broadcast television like the internet, and homemade videos (some of which are well done) on You Tube for entertainment. Cable has encroached on broadcast TV's market share. The studios can't afford to keep doing business the way they've done it over the last ten years. $20 million a picture actors and $60 million dollar comedies don't make profits. It's time to try a new business model for film and digital TV

It will and it won't.

They have 12 episodes finished plus the 2 hour prequel. While the shows that haven't started filming would be screwed and those that did may only have a handful to air, 24 has half their season done. So even if the strike lasts four months that still gives them a cushion. They can start filming and 24 won't miss a week in 2009.

Once again, this needs to be nipped in the bud immediately.

Yah I hope this doesn't happen. LOL 24 is still suffering from its latest strike, it won't be airing new episodes till Jan. If we get another strike 24 won't be airing till 2011 LOL. I'm a big Heroes fan and Chuck fan, I hope we don't get it shortended agian. Did the voice overs for animated series at least get an agreement?
