Siegel & Shuster vs WB: Superman and Infinite Crisis - Part 1

I for one am happy about this both families after getting the rights back sold them away twice. Before asking for them back again and the Siegel family was about to do it a third time had it not been for their money grabbing lawyer Toberoff stepping in. Personally I think DC should flat out own the rights to Superman and just pay the families royalty fees.

I doubt that would have made much of a difference. Smallville still had an actor who refused to wear the suit & in the finale CGIMAN was born
SV follows Clark Kents journey on becoming CGIMAN :(

Beat me to it, I really liked Welling on Smallville but he should never have been cast.

Truth be told no one knows what he didnt wear the suit in the final smallville episode.

Remember the writers stated a few years ago that it was a part of the plot all along and to not show him "as Superman" because the show was not about Superman. However we also know that the Welling has always seemed to have a problem with wearing a suit. Then again we have Nolan and the features division of the WB wanting to keep the suit possibly out of the show. I do not think a real answer to this will gave until years later. I do hold out hope that Smallville Complete Series will get a blu-ray next year to go along with the new movie. However my opinion is that the WB might not do that because even though many hate to admit it, the general pubic did enjoy Smallville if not it would not have lasted so long, and if they did that it might "confuse" fans *ROLLS EYES*.

I do still hold out hope that The Welling could be cast in Justice League if they are still doing the seperate world thing at the WB features Dept.

Tom Welling only wore the top part of the suit at best on the airplane sequence and the shirt rip. We may never know the real reasons he didn't wear the whole suit in the finale - it could be that the studio didn't want SV to detract from the Man of Steel movie or that the SR suit didn't fit TW.

As for Superman's future in film, television, and animation, WB can use the character beyond 2013, which will be Superman's 75th Anniversary. What better way to celebrate that anniversary with the Man of Steel movie? I also hope Superman gets inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Maybe someone can pluck the classic Superman from the pre-Flashpoint continuity and have him meet new 52 Superman.

After the new court ruling, which basically gives WB more control of Superman property, I doubt that they will now even think of having a separate universe for Superman as they were initially thinking.

I expect them to cast Cavill as Superman in the JL movie.

I think that Only Batman would be kept out as a separate solo franchise, which would mean that we will get two Batmen after all.

Absolutely not. I don't know why you Welling fans are so intent on having him appear on the big screen as Superman, when he's made abundantly clear he doesn't want to wear the suit. And he's too boyish-looking.

I do not mind if it is cavill in JL, only fault I see is his height. I do worry about his box office potential however, Immortals was good but the box office could have been better and the less said about Day of Night the better. I think he has the look the same as Routh or Cavill. Personally Christopher Reeve is my favorite version of Superman. It will be hard next year to see another guy on screen other than him, however I am going to try to be open minded.

I just think that if they keep it seperate then they just have to look SV for the Justice League on them and promote them to the big screen. Hey I am a realist I know it will not happen, does that keep me from not wanting it to happen nope, that is just the version of JL I liked.

I hope the WB does make a move to use the Superman movie next year as a tentpole for future "joined universes". Let us face it they know and we know the films have suffered badly to Marvel, they are wiping the slate with films after films each year. WB just is playing catch up which is sad.

Great news indeed. I'm glad this mess is pretty much behind them.

In addition to the JL movie, they need to fast track a new long, overdue Superman animated series.

Great news. I wonder where are all the people that every time wrote 234 posts per minute to say "No, you are wrong, WB will lose the legal battle"...Maybe they could have spent in a better way their time.

The Shuster heirs were dealt a blow. But the Siegels, apparently, still retain their share of Action #1. It ain't over yet.

Haha, you must be referring to the 3 legal scholars on the boards that were also fortune tellers. That said, the summary judgment just gives them leverage over the siegel family and will probably lead to a settlement.

I have no problem with the look of Welling and I am never again going to come out and say something isn't going to happen...you never know.

Ha. Zing.

That was discussed in the first place? :wow:

Yes, it was...with "Even if MOS was a box office success, it would be the last superman movie for at least 70 years" and "Superman is a dead character and WB is ready to lose it"

Your two signature-quotes. The first one misunderstands the point obviously. But the second one almost even more so, but I guess it'd be up for debate.
