Simon West to reboot The Blob

It's been a long time since we've had a Blob film. I'm down for this.

Should be interesting. I like the original and the 88 remake, so it should be interesting to see what they can do with the concept today.

Today, the world is all about spreadable diseases, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is the direction it goes (the WMD angle has ably done by the 1988 remake). I like this horror franchise overall, so I am eagerly curious.

Imagine how great it could be with today's special effects!!!

Hope it will be some true nasty gore in this.

I hope we get a good blend of practical and cg fx.

The potential gore here will be best served with considerable practical fx used where possible.

The 80s version is one of my favorite horror films. Flick has some ****ed up kills.

This seriously better not be some pg-13 bs remake. Actually try to outdo the gore and kills this time hollywood. Bout the only reason I actually re-watch a few of these remakes is for the gore.

I can't wait for his vision. Wait..he doesn't have one. He's like a luckier version of Rob Cohen at this point.

Great, let's get a generic action director to make a horror film. Is platinum dunes producing it as well?

I wish Rob Zombie's version of the remake hadn't fallen through a few years back, I'd really like to see it. :csad:

Samuel L. Jackson to Star in The Blob Remake

Pascal Degove, Managing Director of Goldcrest Films announced today that Samuel L. Jackson (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Kingsman: The Secret Service) has joined the cast of director Simon West’s sci-fi thriller The Blob, a remake of the 1958 sci-fi classic about an alien life form that threatens a small town. The film will shoot this fall and subsequent casting announcements are anticipated to follow shortly.

Jackson will play a biochemistry professor attempting to thwart the other-worldly predator discovered deep within the earth.
Richard Saperstein and Brian Witten will produce along with Jack Harris, the 96-year-old producer of the original 1958 film, Judith Parker Harris, and Taewon Chung.
Goldcrest Films, which is representing global sales and distribution, launched the film to distributors at the EFM earlier in the year to significant buzz and has already secured deals in Germany, Italy, China, Latin America, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, India, Middle East and South Africa.
Goldcrest Post (home to Todd Haynes’ Carol) will be providing picture and sound post production services and visual effects under supervisor Chris Haney (Avatar, The Avengers).
Notes director Simon West: “I have been waiting to work with Samuel L. Jackson my whole career. He is a unique talent in the industry, definitely one of a kind. I am so pleased that we will finally get to collaborate on this project.”
“Samuel L. Jackson has a reputation for thrilling audiences in commercial movies that deliver real box office success – this is a huge boost to our distribution partners and just adds to the excitement that is building around the picture,” comments Pascal Degove, Managing Director of Goldcrest Films.
Shara Kay and Laurence Freed will Executive Produce for Elysium Films; Pascal Degove and Nick Quested for Goldcrest; and Ju Young You for A-List Corporation. Michael Roban, Michael Harpster, Kyu C. Lee, Armen Aghaeian, Edward Mokhtarian, Geno Tazioli, Holly Kobzina and Paul Harris Boardman are also Executive Producers.

Samuel L Jackson is Fury in this, and Avengers will fight the blob :woot:

I never thought they'd ever remake this again because of the concept alone but the first two were actually good and so we'll see about this one

Will there be teenage characters this time too?
There's a big bunch of talented young names out there.

How about Imogen Poots, Liam Aiken, Rollo Weeks, Emma Watson?
I can imagine them doing this. Emma too, if the script is good enough.

However, to succeed at the audition or to be approached and offered a role.... is not as likely.

I was in yo geeky lame SW.

I'm in yo geeky lame marvel flicks.

I was in you geeky secret agent flick.

Can anyone protest that the modern film isn't entirely mines?! ALL OF IT!

Adios mother****ers.
