Rob Zombie to remake "The Blob".

I seen in a interview when talking about the leak of that one Halloween 2 trailer he said Lionsgate didn't know how to market The Devils Rejects and they were trying to make it look like a Saw type film and that pissed him off, cause they didn't wanna promote as he wanted too.

Well, the marketing of the film was pretty SAWish. It worked though didn't it? People went to see Rejects and had a lot of postive stuff to say afterwards. I think if that's the case with Zombie, may have pissed him off, but it sure helped him a lot. But then again, Lions-Gate doesn't have the best marketing group around. Some of their films do really well, but it's not because of the marketing and mostly due to reviews and interest and word of mouth.

You know, Zombie should really consider doing The Blob in 3D just as a side punch kicker.

Well they did a shot for shot remake of Psycho with Vince Vaughn and that was panned.

'Cause it was terrible and pointless. What's the use in shot-for-shot anyway? Damned lazy is what it is.

Very true. But it is one of those films that truely, in every sense, lives up the the term "remake".

He was made cause it made it look like something it wasn't. It was more of a western type thing and a whole bunch of other stuff he said. The link is somewhere in the mess of a thread called the H2 thread.

I define them as "Good" and "Bad" remakes.

Good
------
The Thing

Bad
------
The Day the Earth Stood Still

Fair point. JC's The Thing is far much a better film than the original, but so much had to do with that other than it being closer to the book. The effects, acting, direction all played a part in THE THING being a great film compared to the original.

Here's a little of what Rob Zombie himself had to say about THE BLOB, and the previous two versions of the film. Taken from an interview the weekend H2 came out.

TIMPONE: There’s a big Internet story going around that you’re directing a remake of THE BLOB. Any truth to that?
ZOMBIE: Yeah, that’s true. Someone came to me, and it was a budget way beyond anything I’ve ever worked with, and said, “You can do anything you want,” which of course are always the magic words to me. Because I’m gonna do it anyway, so they might as well just prepare themselves. What I love about it is that it’s cool, it’s a science fiction movie, it’s something different.

TIMPONE: How will it be different than the first two BLOBs?
ZOMBIE: Whatever they did, I want to do the exact opposite. I’m not really a fan of either of those movies.

TIMPONE: The ’80s remake, too?
ZOMBIE: I don’t even remember it. I remember that Kevin Dillon was in it, that’s all.

I think I may have to really worry about this...

And anyone defending this movie, has now lost any argument they had for why this is a good idea.

It's funny 'cause on an episode of MTV Cribs (don't give me that look, yeah I watch that show) when they had Zombie's house on, HE HAD A FREAKING ORIGINAL BLOB POSTER plastered up on his wall. Then again, he just likes old movie posters, so maybe that means nothing.

But seriously...does he even know what THE BLOB is at all?

There's no opposite move to a movie about a ****ing blob that kills people. So I would have to say he knows very little about the Blob.

Oh look! They've just released a teaser poster!!

If he doesn't like the film he's remaking, what's the point?

This sounds ridiculous now. I'll pass.

Well...thats not a fair judgement. I would love to remake AvP, and I hate those films...they're goal might be to improve on it.

Actually it is. Because you're confusing two very different things.

1) Not being a fan of a movie

and

2) Not being a fan of what some hack did to a property that you liked
