Not that it was anyone's first choice for a franchise. One step closer to having the rights revert...

I'm looking forward to seeing a Spider-Man film where he wears Iron Man Style armor and Harry Osborn becomes Venom. There's no guarantee that Marvel would make a good Spider-Man movie they make Ultimate Spider-Man and not every single marvel film is great you know

Wait, so is Umberto Gonzalez from Latino Review? How credible is this source?

Now let the Spider-man getting back to Mahvel rumors start over and over again.

Probably for the best. Hopefully Sony still keeps Goddard attached to Spider-Man, though.

That's a bummer; it would have been a unique film (a villain centered piece.)

Sony will definitely make more Spider-Man movies anyway...

But yeah, Goddard should replace Webb and direct Spidey 3.

They need to switch the editing/writing teams; TASM2, while a really good film, suffered from too many plotlines.

I really hope this rumor is true. Cancel that Venom movie too.

A film from the villain's pov would a) be the first b) be a departure from the 5 billionth film where everyone (and their goldfish) that Peter Parker knows become super villains. Talk about 6 degrees of separation.

A film from the villains point of view would not be the first in a long shot; try again.

For a 300 million [from the Big Two] Comic Book Blockbuster? Yeah, it's a first.

A villain film could be good... but not with the people behind this Spider-Man franchise.

Either way, they need to focus on Spidey and only Spidey. There is no point doing spin offs with villains when the titular hero is struggling.

The rights aren't reverting for Spider-Man. As long as those franchise makes money Sony will milk every dime they can out if it.

the problem is that the movies are costing more to make, and they're making less money.

When they are no longer profitable I imagine Sony will sell the rights back but I think Sony believes there is still money to be made from Spider-Man.

Maybe but at it is going to take is the next 2 movies making less like ever spider man movie has been doing for the most part and they wont be profitable any more. ASM2 made around 180 million ww less then sm3 and probly cost around 50 million more to make then sm3 did.

Sony is still has the DVD/Blu-Ray sales to come for ASM2

Except Sony has one problem. TASM3 already built up the Sinister Six as the villains back in TASM2. The budget is going to be higher by default. It's already going to be unprofitable.
