I don't know if this is an example of Marvel running out of ideas (along with the fact that the Dark Avengers are all copy-cats) or if it's an example of how smart Marvel really is.
I guess time will tell.

I think it sounds great, so I might give it a try. I like Gargan as Venom, especially now that he's "Spider-Man", and honestly never want to see Brock with the suit again. Move on. I can't wait until the inevitable confrontation between Peter and Mac.

But every other time there is another Spider-Man in NY Pete goes out right away to find them. He hasn't even expressed any interest in the Spider-Man in Dark Avengers...

How its always been until recently was that Venom was the combination of the symbiote and a specific human host. The symbiote never had an identity. It was never refered to as Venom by itself until we got closer to the beginning of Gargan's career as Venom. The closest it had as a identity was the "Venom symbiote". Unfortunately, nowadays, you don't need a specific combination of a human host and the symbiote for Venom. Any Tom, Dick, or Harry can be Venom.

The symbiote without Eddie (or Gargan) is not Venom, just as Eddie (or Gargan) without the symbiote isn't Venom.

I don't see why the "venom symbiote" moving from host to host is a bad thing though. Especially if it goes after people who hate Spider-Man, which opens a lot of possibilities, it'd be cool to see Vulture or Rhino taken over by the symbiote.

What Venom.X said. For example, when Peter Parker wore the suit, he wasn't Venom, right?

He reacted pretty strongly in New Avengers #49...

In all fairness, Gargan hasnt even finished his first mission as "New Spidey" yet....Peter really hasnt had much of a chance to go after him yet, however he and the New Avengers DID plan on confronting Norman's team with a well planned trap...Norman just didnt fall for it.

Who ever thought a couple years ago that Mac Gargan would ever get his own mini-series? He's never even been drawn consistently when he's out of the Scorpion suit/symbiote - I've civilian Gargan drawn as a tall guy, short guy, skinny guy, buff guy young guy, old guy, blonde, brunette, etc. In Marvel Knights he was a short wrinkly older guy, in the original ASM comics he was a skinny brunette, then in another comic he was a buff young blonde guy.

I haven't followed comics in the past couple years, now that he's a more important part of the Marvel universe have they decided what he looks like yet?
