Skarsgard wasn't being realistic if he expected his character to play a large part in the movie. When an actor gets something like tenth billing in an ensemble cast he can't expect to be a major player. Of all the characters on the canvas, his was the most minor, one that played a supporting role in another film and was never in the comics. Selvig was there to move the plot, nothing more.
here's a lot of people in 'The Avengers' And I was thinking, How on Earth are you going to get all of those superheroes in a movie and have room for them and still have a story that actually moves forward? And, also you have to satisfy a lot of actors with at least reasonable material.
, it's a fantastic; pure mechanical work to build a story with so many heroes that actually works. I think the script worked. What it will be when it comes out, I can't tell.
I thought the most intriguing (and somewhat worrying quotes were)
and
I think Whedon is going to pull off ah a hat trick in filmmaking, because it seems the actors just see a jumbled mess for their part. Very interesting.
How do you figure that? Skarsgard says straight out in the article (& the bit you quoted) that he thought the script works. In fact, I don't think I've heard anything but praise for the script.
Agreed.we all knew his part would be small at best. he probably knew that too, before reading the script. of course he wants more to, I'd be surprised if he didn't want a bigger role. every actor wants more to do...
I'd have prefered him not being in the movie all together if he was going to be complaining about his role in the film. Let's be honest, he's an insignifican't character any way you cut it, in his original movie Thor. What made him think they were going to expand his role in The Avengers?
You guys might be overreacting. Who said he was complaining? I don't see any indication of that. What Mickey Rourke was doing about Iron Man 2 is complaining. Stellan is only acknowledging his small role in the film.I'd have prefered him not being in the movie all together if he was going to be complaining about his role in the film. Sorry to go off-topic but I think Sellan would be prefect for Dr. Octopus.
