Woah!!

There also used to be 50 foot crocodiles that ate dinosaurs, 50 foot predatory sharks, and 30 foot Komodo dragons.

Why has everything gotten smaller?

There still is potential for 50 foot predatory sharks. I think the largest found great white was around 45', and they sporadically find larger ones every so often.

The animals they usually preyed on died off. So the runts of their species became dominant because smaller prey usually out ran the larger ones.
