Slayers?

I saw an ad for this in a boxed set of Dragonball. It looks like a swords-n-sorcery kind of anime. Is it worth watching, and what kind of tone does it have?

I would say the first series is worth watching, and it takes a pretty light and fun tone overall. The ad you say was probably for the latest incarnation, Slayers Revolution. I haven't seen it myself, but it seems the general consensus seems to be that it's somewhat weak. I would see if I could track down the original, simply entitled Slayers, see what you think and work your way from there

The Slayers movies, The Slayers, The Slayers: Next and The Slayers:Try are worth watching.

I've seen both Revolution and Evolution-R.

First of all I hate the fact both seasons 4 and 5 are the same damn story broken up into two 13 episode seasons. This is not to say I disliked it. I loved the new animation and art style, but the story was a little weak and it veared off from the Novels and/or Manga a little more than first 2 seasons did.

I recommend Slayers, its fun and light hearted but has a slight serious side and if you like this kind of thing...it's full of slapstick comedy. Baiscly it's a series you have to take a little less seriously than others.
