Ask and ye shall receive.I want lists.![]()
lol exactlyI said it's 61f***ing6.
I bet Alan Moore said something similar himself. Seriously, though, their argument for hating the term is such utter bull****. The people they think would be excluded by its use aren't the kind of people who visit comic book message boards and **** anyway.I can't believe they have the testicular fortitude to even think about going against that which has been laid down by the Great Alan Moore. The c**ts.![]()
I don't know whether to roll my eyes, laugh or say **** 'em both.Marvel Editor in Chief Joe Quesada and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort have each stated their dislike for the term Earth 616.
I can tell you for sure that those of us actually working on the books virtually never use the term--and I kind of wince inside whenever I hear somebody use it. It just sounds so stupid to my ear, and so counter to the kind of mindset we try to foster in regards to the stories we create and the thinking we try to employ.
Marvel Executive Editor Tom Brevoort
I never use it, I hate the term pure and simple and agree with Toms assessment of it. I cant remember ever hearing it in the office and only really see it used online for the most part. I think the term really came into vogue when the Ultimate Universe came into prominence, but in my world, the language and distinctions are simple, there is the Marvel Universe and the Ultimate Universe. Anything other than that reeks of all that DC Earth 1, Earth 2, Earth Prime stuff which Ive never really taken to, but then again, I got into DC when they got rid of all that stuff so it was from and for a different era than my own.
Marvel Editor in Chief Joe Quesada
Not to mention, Marvel publishes at least one comic (Spider-Girl) that takes place in a different universe than the Marvel U.Joe Q's in particular is ******ed, given that Marvel's very own bio section lists characters from alternate universes as "Character name (Earth-####)." King Thor from the future that he ultimately erased, for example, is Thor (Earth-3515) and the Mimic who joined the Exiles is Mimic (Earth-12). How is it counter to what your comics are about if the official bios for the characters of those comics use the same damn terminology? If you really hate the terms so much, why not just implement a policy that they can't be used straight across the board?
Don't forget the ass-load of universes visited in Exiles. I believe that comic actually referred to 616 as 616.Not to mention, Marvel publishes at least one comic (Spider-Girl) that takes place in a different universe than the Marvel U.
So oh yeah, Marvel's nothing like DC's multiple Earths. But it does have an Ultimate Universe, and that Spider-Girl's universe, and the out of continuity stories that take place in their own universes...
