...and stop being used like reality TV show characters who constantly bicker and fight with eachother.

I mean, true in the 60s-90s they fought eachother sometimes. But the norm was that they either teamed up or found themselves amidst a villianous plot.

Between Civil War, House of M, Disassembled, Planet Hulk or any other Mega Event (except I hear Annilhilation is pretty solid) pits heroes against other deranged heroes.

Friends against Friends, wife against husband....okay WE GET IT Quesada, you hate normal relationships.

I have been friends with some people since I was four, and not one of them has ever been divided with me over a Government act or something absurd like that. Hell my best friend is so conservative he makes Rumsfeld look Liberal, yet I call him and see him almost every single day.

Can't the heroes just battle a supervillian please. Kang, Doom, Magneto, Mr Sinister, friggin Sentinels.

It has gotten to the point where any of the resemblence to the real world Marvel once had is gone. The people all seem to have intense bi-polar disorder where their emotional states are so easily swayed they forget every piece of history they had with people.

Now it seems as though whenever a story is written a character is tailored to fit the story rather than acting like how you'd expect him to act.

I just wanna see a villian/hero fight again....please....whats so wrong with that:(

The heroes have been fighting villains still.

And Annihilation is totally solid. It's, like, a super-dense singularity, it's so solid.

Well then hopefully it will turn into a black hole and suck all of Marvel's crap into it.

But Marvel wouldn't be Marvel without all the crap.
It was Marvel in the 1960s and 1980s....back when it used to treat flagship characters with respect.

Civil War at it's basic concept is okay, but instead of writing the story as best as it can be written, the writers have all the characters acting very irrationally and out of character for the sake of having fight scenes. I've been saying for a while that Civil War would have been much better if the Registration act had simply been introduced in Avengers and then have all the other characters in their own books deal with it acordingly without a huge cross over mini series.

When can Marvel have a big event thats fun like the old secret war. Yeah good times.

To my knowledge theyre still out there fighting villains.

I completely agree.

People seem to be constantly duped by the fact that if something is gritty and edgy and pessimistic and violent, it must therefore be more realistic than if it wasn't. Which is inane; a darker story just means the story is darker, not more realistic. I like some edgy and violent stories, but without showing the counterpart to that, without maintaining a proper balance...it just comes off as an exercise in self-flagellation that makes all the heroes look like incompetent morons.

What was the result of Disassembled? The heroes lost. What was the result of House of M? They lost. Deadly Genesis? Lost. Civil War? Losing. And of course; how could it turn out any other way when all they do is fight themselves and turn evil and crazy and "morally ambiguous?"

uhm....they still are fighting crime...that's the reason that Iron Man and them are after Cap' and his crew, because they're fighting crime without registering...and if you look in the books that arent civil war crossovers, that's all that's going on, buisness as usual...

Very true. I like darker stories as much as the next guy, but only if they have the depth and good writing to back it up. If Watchmen and Dark Knight Returns were solely about the sex, swearing, and violence, they would not be considered two of the best comics in the history of the industry. That being said, I wish there would be some more lighthearted stories. We need more stuff like Deadpool or the Great Lakes Avengers. Hell, the GLA should get their own continuing series.

To the OP:

I agree. OMG do I agree. To the max. Fer sure.

To Kotagg:

Whatever. Nice comment.

oh and for the love of god ppl, stop saying "juicued"

You guys slaughter the english language

it's "juiced". and if it's actually some reference, textual or not, i don't care. let me rant, this is a ranting thread.

and, and... supervillains are crap. the best powers and the cool **** goes to heroes so that's why we like to see them fight. that's right, i like it! yeah! and so do the hundred-odd thousand people that buy civil war so :p

You could use the "it's out of character" argument for anything and you guys pretty much do. but it happens everywhere. villains are written out of character (compared to their original appearances) almost every issue they appear.
i just had to read Mimic from Exiles change from the most powerful of mutants and a strong leader to a ***** (i'm catching up on Exiles :)) just because of a change in writer. what's that about??

and another thing... *burps* *puts beer down*

rant over ;)

I am SO glad I don't read comics in the same perspective you do. SO glad.

I don't remember Mimic changing from strong leader to *****. I remember him being a ***** pretty consistently.
