So when can Superheroes go back to fighting crime...

what amazes me more is that supervillains arent using the heroes fighting each other for their own purposes.

Oh, but they are.:o

Whats the deal with this "kids these days" thread here? The fact of the matter is no one wants to see a cheesy fight between Spider Man and Rhino for the FIFTY THOUSANDTH time. Civil War is so HUGE because its something people havnt read over and over again... ebrace the change or stop reading them.

Oh but it has happened over and over again.

Yes, because hero fighting hero has never been done at Marvel before?

You havent seen Spider-man and Cap fight????
You havent seen Heroes fighting Heroes for stupid reason?????
You havent seen an Avenger go evil before??????

Is that Iron Man? Because I wouldn't call him evil, well not yet anyway right now he's just an ass.

why dont we get rid of everything that has been used before while we are at it....
Lets get rid of spiderman's costume because we've seen it too much as it is.
Lets get rid of the Batcave because we've seen Batman down there too much and he needs a new base
Lets get rid of Banner becoming the Hulk when he's mad......

he is on the path of darkness

This sounds like an argument I keep having with CBK.

Oh, Millar is most assuredly setting IM up to be an evil bastard. No doubt.

What makes you say that Darth?

Your right, hero vs. hero has been done before, but so has hero vs. villian... I want a comic where Cap runs up and punches an old lady in the face for no reason.

I'd buy that.

I really doubt they'll make Iron Man bad, theyll make it out to be that hes been heavily manipoulated by different factors.

If they make him evil, it will be as bad as when they made Maxwell Lord evil at DC with seemingly no explanation as to why.

That said, Dread and I feel exactly the same way. I read comics to escape drama and grim and bleak real life, not to embrace it.

Escapism is fine, but it shouldn't be what comics are all about. Some comics should have that, but definately not all. Just as not all telkevision, movies, or books should be a form of escapism. Kind of reminds me of the last lines of "Good Night, and Good Luck." Talking about TV here, but it's a similar issue:

"To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires and lights in a box. Good night, and good luck."

I still see comics as an escape, I never found that argument to be standing on firm ground. AM I still reading stories with people that have super powers? Check. Do they still have plenty of action? Check. Do I care about the characters? Check.

You're right. Not ALL! But, I read Superhero books for escapism. If I wanted the gritty stuff, there's indie comics for that.

Elijya and I have had this talk before. You got your indie comics in my Superhero comics!
