It must have been damned good, to pre-empt a whole week of pretty much the only decent shows on during the summer, with the exception of Kyle XY:
  • Burn Notice
  • Psych
  • The 4400
  • Dead Zone
  • Monk
Sorry, just venting.

But seriously, did "The Open's" ratings seriously justify pre-empting these shows? Might just be my perception, but who watches tennis, really?

I do. I made a thread about the Open in the SHH! Community thread. Over there are a lot of people pissed that their shows are pre-empted. But seriously, your shows are on for the much of the entire summer. US Open is only for 2 weeks. I think you guys can at least go by 2 weeks without the USA shows.

So how were the ratings?

The US Open might be only for two weeks out of the year, but if it isn't on USA, it'd be somewhere else, even network TV.

Obviously, USA decided it was worth it to piss off some of its viewers for a week or so. I just hope they don't feel the same way next year. It needs to be on the OLN channel or something, just like the Tour de France.

The U.S. Open is on USA every year. So it will probably be on the channel next year too. Obviously the ratings are pretty good if it's always on USA. The tournament is also on CBS. I think as we get closer to the finals, the tournament will appear more on CBS than USA.

i watch the us open.

i also watch burn notice.

got no problem with the scheduling.

I watch the US Open as well. I can wait for the return of Burn Notice.

It's still going on, and will end on Sunday. I'm hoping for Djokovic to win the whole thing.

I'd really like someone new to win other than Federer, Nadal, or Roddick.

^ Djokovic.

Although, I really thought Blake would beat Haas yesterday. I can't believe he lost. He had a good draw to atleast make it to the Semi-Finals.

i'm rooting for roddick just because he's the underdog.

I am going for Roddick because as a Sampras fan Federer is getting to close to the Slam record. I know it's only a question of when.

Also I have zero problem with pre-empting shows for the US Open. That comes from a Burn Notice fan.

US Open=Worst 2 weeks in NYC

It's funny you would say that though. Cause obviously it's an event that brings out celebrities, big crowds an etc. You really think it's the worst in NYC? I would have to disagree.

He plays Federer tonight, so we'll have to see how he plays. I'm rooting for him aswell.

Do you live in NYC?

Then you should know how awful the parking is there considering Shea Stadium is nearby. Fortunately the Mets were on the road since it starter because the parking is already more awful than usually because of the new stadium.

Heh, I do know how it is. I can deal with it though. It also depends on which time of day you go to. When do you go?

I usually go to the afternoon games.

Another thing that sucks is all the shows and radio shows talk about tennis when the 2 baseball teams are in pennant races and the football season is starting.

chances are he's going to lose tonight, but i'm just hoping he at least beats federer once in a major.

Ah, ok same here. I was there for the Djokovic vs. Stepanek match. I usually go for the night matches, but not this year. Well, I might go for one of the night matches towards the end of the tournament.

The last time Roddick beat Federer was I think about 3-4 years ago. But it wasn't at a grand slam. So I really hope he takes it to Federer tonight and maybe improve from last years final.

Did you guys watch the Venus match? That was crazy. I'm rooting for her to win. The Federer vs. Roddick match will be good. I am also a Sampras fan so I'll root for Roddick to win this match (since he'll knock Federer from winning this grand slam).

I would love to go to one of these games. I've been watching the Open ever since I could remember but never been to a match. I'll go someday.

I can't believe Roddick lost in three sets. I really expected the match would atleast go four. Still though, he played well and of course have to give credit to Federer.

damn federer! he ruins tennis by his lack of decent competition-he's won ebough, just retire :cmad:
