So, why are we still paying 60 dollars for games?

I'm curious what it is you envisioned this thread to actually be. Did you just kind of expect everyone to circle jerk around the idea that games are generally not worth, while fist pumping and screaming "Damn the Man!" Because it seems like when people told you the why, it just became about how people who buy games at full price are stupid, and ****ting on things you don't really like. I honestly don't get what it is you are trying to cultivate with all this.

I didn't. There is rarely a consensus on anything on this board. But I didn't expect quite this negative a reaction. Well from you, obviously. But you react that way to everything. But in general, I am surprised by the reactions.

I simply feel that as of late, video games have declined in quality. They get produced more quickly, we get less content, we get fleeced with DLC that years ago would have been in the game, yet the price stays the same.

Especially with Steam taking off, this stumps me.

But the answer seems to be, people are willing to pay that in spite of it all. Why? And that's a rhetorical why.

Yeah, it feels like he simply made this thread to complain and hope people would agree with him. Odd really.

Not quite sure how that's odd, given some of the threads on this forum. But I was looking more for reactions in general.

I wish you'd get off this kick. We just happen to disagree a lot on stuff, but you're even more pretentious than you're coming off here if you honestly think I (or anyone else here) cater my views based on yours.

That's all well and good to say, but in the end, you're response to anything posted is pretty much, 'Well, people shouldn't be stupid'. So, it's still not clear to me what it is you're hoping to get out of this discussion.

You do seem to go out of your way to spite me frequently. Though you did go on a rather over the top rant against another user about a trivial matter concerning the Xbox One's hard drive, so maybe I shouldn't take it too personally.

But I do concede that I regret making this thread. I will ask a mod to close it, since I don't see anything good coming out it.

You have complained with nearly every reaction in this thread. So how are you simply looking for reaction?

I agree I don't like paying $60 for games, which is why I don't do it. That being said, I am more then willing to do so for the games I care about. I am spending $100+ on the Witcher 3.

In fairness, nearly every reaction has been the same. Ergo, the same response.

What do you get for 100+?

Oh yeah, Thunder, the only reason I post is to spite you.

Though you did go on a rather over the top rant against another user about a trivial matter concerning the Xbox One's hard drive, so maybe I shouldn't take it too personally.

Sure, you could frame it that way, but I found what I said civil enough, and I was not the only one who had mentioned Knight's sometimes excessive posting habits to him in the past. I guess I should've took a page from your book and not so subtly implied he was an idiot for talking about it.

But I do concede that I regret making this thread. I will ask a mod to close it, since I don't see anything good coming out it.

Probably for the best, if this is the kind of stuff you're going to be posting. There's legitimate discussion to be had about the issues you raise, but you don't seem to want to address that in any sensible way, at least not one that I can make any sense of. But as you said, I may just not be part of the 'smart people'.

Well that is what happens when you start a thread to hear yourself talk.

And you get a bunch a physical goodies. I mainly want the statue and medallion. Totally not worth it, but I love the Witcher series and want the collectables.

$60 or £45 is great value for many games nowadays relative to many games from a few generations ago which were the same price for a few hours of gameplay and made on much smaller budgets. With inflation most other products have gone up massively over that period. I think people buy a lot more games nowadays so paying full price for the not so good ones will feel like a rip off due to overall spend on the hobby being higher. But otherwise there are some games which I put hours into which are worth much more than full price to me and others which are not.

I can usually predict roughly which ones will give me that value and for everything else I buy at dirt cheap prices a while after launch anyway (plus have the option to sell). Destiny is a rare example of a game when I've paid full price and thought the content was lacking but then you've seen a big percentage of gamers unhappy with that and they've probably thrown away the future of their billion dollar franchise with that effort along with their reputation. Many will not be paying $60 for Destiny 2.

In sum I think the free market system of demand and supply is generally fair in this instance and when things are overpriced most consumers will stop or delay buying until it comes into line.
