I've never been able to say pop in the context of - "do you want a can of pop" - while keeping a straight face - therefore i don't, i refer to it as the brand name or not at all....i.e. coke, 7-up, sprite etc...

I'd much rather Soda became an everyday word for it here.

I think it's sort of a regional thing. Where I've come from, it's always Pop. So this thread is sorta pointless.
