Branching off from a discussion in the Things You Hate Thread, which do you prefer: The far superior and correct "Soda" or the silly little "pop"? Or are you one of those stinking hippies that calls all soda "Coke"? I hate you the most, btw.

Sound off Hypesters! Join a side in this, the most important of debates!

As for me, if you haven't figured it out already, I have this to say:

Screw "pop", this weasel goes "soda".

:awesome:

:cmad: We call it pop.

I've only heard southern people refer to it as "soda."

You must not have travelled much. Everyone I know, except for those raised in the mid-west, calls it by it's proper name.

I've only heard no one in my entire life call it pop.

Also, the folks who call all soft drinks "Coke" are just as annoying as the people who call all cereal "corn flakes".

I've traveled alot, and I've even heard people in PA and Maine call it "pop."

The times I heard soda, was in the south, and it was actually said as "Sodie."

I usually say pop...or whatever the actual name of the drink is. (Pepsi, Coke, etc.) I have never said 'soda' in my entire life.

Well go some where other than Long Island, and you'll see it's a whole different world.

Then I don't know you! :cmad:

Also, MY thread title has be vandalized! Those lousy pop-heads! :argh:

I've always called it "soda". Not once in my life have I ever heard someone call it "pop'.

Not only have I never heard pop from a persons mouth, the only time I've seen it on TV was an episode of Tiny Toons in the 90's. Every comercial/tv show I watch has characters who refer to it as Soda.

I've never heard it called "pop" in my life. Nor do people in my native southeastern USA call every drink a "Coke"

.......I'm kinda shocked you remembered that from Tiny Toons. Holy F***

I've never heard pop until some kid from Minnesota(of all places) moved down to our school.

I call it soda. The term soda was used first back in 1558 waaaaaayyyyy before pop was used....so it's definitely soda in my opinion. Pop comes from the sound that a can of "soda" makes when you open it.

I had a discussion with someone who uses the term "coke". I do not understand this at all. Rootbeer coke, orange coke.....coke coke??? lol

I hear alot of people in Wisconsin and PA who say "POP" alot.

I never said "soda" because I always was trying to hide any words that could give away where I am from.

I don't drink soft drinks that much anymore.

But when I did I called everything by its actual name.

I'm from the south, I call it Soda. Never have called it Pop.

So many have the notion that southerners do that, but I can honestly say having lived my 28 years in Georgia, I have never heard such a thing.

Maybe some say it, but I have never had someone say "Want a Coke?", I say Yes and they bring me a Dr. Pepper

I don't get it either.

:huh::huh::huh:

Im from Georgia and have only heard carbonated beverages referred to as "Coke" except from those who were from other areas.
But, no, I have NEVER heard someone say "orange coke" or root beer coke" or anything similar.

Its more like "Hey, you want a Coke or something?"
Response: "Sure, what do you have?"
Answer: "Coke, Dr. Pepper, Sprite."
