"Sonic Boom" NEW Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon series!

The Sonic Boom TV series will mark Sonic’s fifth television venture. Executive producer Evan Baily said the program hopes to differentiate itself by focusing more on the characters than speed.


“We do not plan to feature the bad guy du jour,” he said. “We want to put the characters in situations where their personalities and relationships can take center stage and take us to unexpected places.”


Among those unexpected places? In one episode, Sonic fires Tails as his gadget guru, amid fears for his safety. (Dr. Eggman applies for the job.) In another, Knuckles becomes mayor. And Dr. Eggman, frustrated at constantly losing his battles with Sonic, fakes an injury and takes the Hedgehog to court.

Huh. There may be hope for this show after all. But Sonic still looks like garbage.

Looks like the show will focus mostly on talking animals. I think Eggman will be the only human.

Early on, when we had our first review of all the crazy things we wanted to try, Iizuka-san came down to Los Angeles and looked through all the different concepts. I felt sorry for the guy because sometimes he couldn’t actually look at the screen–it was too traumatic seeing all the crazy stuff we wanted to do. Over the course of that meeting, when we were coming up with new ideas, we had a very sincere–just two adults talking–conversation about why a character should or should not wear pants, and that was a very surreal moment in my life and my career.

The people at Bigredbutton (Development team creating the Sonic Boom game) said once E3 kicks off, a ton of new information about the game and the cartoon series will be announced.

Today was the 4th annual Sonic Boom convention, taking place in New York City. As suspected, a lot of promotion for the cartoon series was made today.

First off, the show debuts on Cartoon Network Saturday, November 8th. (Was sorta hoping it would be part of their Thursday night lineup, next to Adventure Time, but whatever)

There was also a live table-read from the voice-actors. According to TSSZ, some episodes of the show will follow these storylines:

1. Tails makes a translator that read people’s minds. It’s later revealed that when Amy’s mind almost gets read aloud she loves Sonic in Sonic Boom too.

2. The cast find and read Amy’s “fan fiction” of the cast.

3. Amy and Eggman play a pretty puppy MMO together without letting everyone else know. Sonic catches Eggman at Amy’s house. Amy and Eggman end up going to PuppyCon to the reluctance of Sonic, who will be going as well.

Some episode titles revealed are: "Translate This" "Cabin Fever" and "Can An evil Genius Crash on Your Couch For a Few Days?"

Looks like Cartoon Network thinks this show won't pull in any ratings, because CN just announced when Sonic Boom will air, and it's not good.

Sonic Boom will premiere Saturday November 8th, and the very next day at 6:00 in the morning.

The fact that the series premieres in just two weeks and not a single commercial for this show has yet to air is another bad sign. CN wants this show to fail and fail hard.
