'Sony' Official Accuses 'MS' Of Copying Their Strategies....

Well I found the quote that mentioned the PS3 game pricing.

It's apparently from an interview with some Sony exec with the initials KH from the August 2006 issue of PSM:

PSM: Can we expect PS3 games to be priced in the same range as Xbox 360 titles?

KH: Generally Speaking, over the past twelve years or so, there has been a consumer expectation that disc-based games are maybe $59 on the high end to $39 on the low end. So, what I can say now is, I think it would be a bit of a stretch to think that we could suddenly turn around and say "PS3 Games now $99.99." I don't think consumers expect software pricing to suddenly double. So, the quick answer is that we want to make it as affordable as possible, knowing that there is a set consumer expectation for what software has cost for the past twelve years. That's kind of the best answer I can give you. So, if it becomes a bit higher than $59, don't ding me, but, again, I don't expect it to be $100.

Wow. Way to skid around that answer. You know if it was going to be $50-60 like every other system is, he'd outright say "yeah, we're the same price". But no, he dodges the answer by saying that it won't be $100 (whew?). But yeah, don't be upset with him if (when) they are higher than any other system's games.

Geezy cow, Sony....

This place is really starting to become a Sony fanboy's nightmare...

Wow, that pricing thing is hysterical. Think of all the threads all across the internet that had people so sure that Sony wouldn't even DREAM about their game prices being higher.

Neither do any other Sony fanboys on this forum (save for THE LIZARD I think, but he's so cautiously defensive that he already has white flags waving in the air shouting "PEACE PEACE" before even making a post). The hostility towards their favorite company on this forum is appalling. There must be some sort of "safe haven" all these poor folk have retreated to.

Mostly, yes. But there are a few little tidbits here and there that earns them undeserved criticism. I dunno, maybe it's because of my natural sympathy for the ****ed-up position Sony is in right now but then again, all it takes is a couple of asinine, pigheaded quotes from Sony loudmouths like Kaz Hirai and Krazy Ken for me to go like, "psh yeah, serves them right :rolleyes:". Heh.

EXACTLY.......THE BAD FAR OUTWEIGHS THE GOOD. :o

I don't know why Sony feels so...immortal. They act like, because they greatly defeated their opponents with the PS2, that they can control the market. Current pricing structures don't matter, and they "know" that everyone on Earth wants (and can afford) technology that is supposedly "beyond" state-of-the-art.
Every day we sit here and watch them make fools of themselves, and hope their arrogance comes back and bites them in the wallet.

Sad thing is, I love my ps2 and psp....but sony see us as giant wallets, not gamers. I don't think they should be rewarded or praised for that. at least they actually seemed to try before.

You guys need to come to the other video game forum I post at. I believe that "safe haven" Phaser is talking about is that place.

The PS3 is a gay lover?

If Sony wants to accuse others of being copycats, then they should really take a look at their PS3 controller (the one that's a stolen design to begin with and also incorporates Nintendo's motion sensitivity and MS's guide button).

Now why would we join a place that has a few users possibly avoiding this place for that place because of an certain issue

To pour salt in the wound?:O

Ha, they're not really posting there. I was just saying that the other place I post is very, VERY pro-Sony. It scares me sometimes. :(

I find it amusing how Zen has given up defending the PS3. I wonder where she is right now?

Like we didnt expect the price of a console to double? :o

PS3 games will be expensive :(

To drive the point that there's no "safe haven".

I wouldn't be suprised if Sony thinks $100 is affordable. Krazy Ken did say that the PS3 was too cheap at $600.

It is quite scary to think PS3 Games will be almost 100 Bucks a piece. I really hope Sony gets a big wake up call

With X360 games being (usually) AU$119.00 There will be no way in hell I would ever get a PS3 if games were sitting around AU$150.

I know that is probably equal to $60 in the US, but it still looks bad paying $120 for a video game.
