Either way, there's not a damn thing i can do about it. I got how to dissable it from that very site actually. And either way 90% of the sites said it was an out dated and unnecessary component.
It's not outdated, and it's still used by many software engineers for quick on the spot analysis of program crashes. I work with this stuff.
And theres many ways you can get the error. I spent the week naturally taking the Acebot virus route. Even paid for a program that was rated highly and best known for getting rid of the acebot virus (if that is what i had), It didn't. So got my money back. I read up more, and said many a times it can be caused by a registry error as well. One of my programs i had running probably just conflicted with it.
So here is the thing, I assumed that you're virus scanner picked up Acebot based off of your previous post: "So i found out it's caused by an Acebot that disguises itself as a "Dr. Watson Postmortem debugger" error"...
It sounds like you got that off of a web forum given the context of your other posts.
From what I'm gathering from these snippits of information what you're experiencing is a software on your computer that is crashing, and the Dr Watson executing in response to that software crashing (ie... trying to debug the cause of the crash). Now that you have disabled Dr Watson it is no longer picking up and trying to debug the problem. In other words, the problem still exists but you've masked the symptoms.
My point is, i spent a week researching it, and asked many a people help. Now there's no problem (all the error did was effect my WE anyway), and now it's working beautifully. Either supply advice on getting help or get out, because where were you when i actually needed help?
I'm here now, and I'm trying to give you advice and a little bit of knowledge so that you understand what's going on. No need to get defensive. My advice was that if you were infected with a known virus that you back up your data and re-format the box. However, after piecing together your posts it doesn't sound like it was a virus.
The only full way to safe guard my pc is of course to reboot my computer and wipe it clean. but i can't do that. ( i need a new disk drive, because mine wont open or close, and i lost all my installation discs when i moved into my apartment almost 2 years ago).
Format & re-install you mean.
On to the next step:
Go here - drive:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\
Open Drwtsn32.log (with notepad) and put the content of that file in this thread.
Also you should open a command prompt.
(start --> run --> type "cmd" ---> return)
Then type in this command: "systeminfo >> C:\systeminfolog.txt"
Go to your C:\ drive and open the .txt file you created, post those results in here also.
