Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer problems

On Friday my IE froze and wouldn't work,i switched off and rebooted but it still froze and said it had encountered a problem and needed to close
The same kept happening with Windows explorer everytime i tried to open a pic file or Gif animator,meaning i basically couldn't use anything

Anyway later that night it suddenly started working again and was fine until last night when it all started acting up again

Ive ran my virus scanner and followed the disk repeair option that microsoft gives you when you report the error but still it won't work and gives me the "must close...has encountered a problem" message

any ideas what i can do to fix this ? i can get on here through firefox but windows explorer has to be fixed

Hmm....I can offer no help on the matter, but the same thing happens to me from time to time. Not as extensive, but I do have the problem.

Frankly, I did not begin to encounter the problem until after I began to install all of the patches and service packs and updates for Windows XP. That's when it all began for me, and it has been a thorn in my side ever since.
