"Southern Wild" Director On His Next Film

"Beasts of the Southern Wild" filmmaker Benh Zeitlin has revealed the first details on his mysterious next project which sounds even more surreal.
Speaking with The New York Times, Zeitlin says: "The new film is about a young girl who gets kidnapped onto a hidden ecosystem where a tribal war is raging over a form of pollen that breaks the relationship between aging and time."
He goes on to say a young girl is again the central focus, and: "It follows a friendship-love story-adventure of her and a joyous, reckless, pleasure-mongering young boy as they swirl in and out of youth and as the ecosystem around them spirals toward destruction."
While he and his crew is hard at work on developing the film, there aren't any dates yet set.

Sigh, that tired old plotline again, being rehashed over and over. When is he going to come up with something original?!

"Southern Wild" had that doe-eyed, try-hard "THIS IS POETRY, GUYS" tone to it that i kind of found off-putting but there was definitely some technical value to the thing and he seems to work fairly well with actors. this sounds like more of the same, just with more emphasis on the mystical. which i suppose could be a good direction for him to go in. still, i have to roll my eyes when i see a character over-described as "joyous, reckless, pleasure-mongering." two adjectives are plenty, did he really have to throw "pleasure-mongering" in there, too?
