Also, typical Hollywood, why does every boxing movie always have to star a white American?? Lol, they make it seem like there no elite black or Hispanic boxers out there. In reality the most successful white boxers out there are Russian or from the Soviet Bloc.

A Johnny Tapia movie (real life boxer, RIP) would be more way more interesting than this same formulaic boxing movie or the upcoming Creed movie.

Like I said, I wish they had pushed forward with the Johnny Tapia movie like they had been planning since forever. Now his story is something out of Hollywood, tragedy, rise and fall, etc. Very sad stuff to what happened to him and his family.

50 Cent produced a documentary for HBO a year or two ago.

Bro, watch Foxx describe the opening scene of the Tyson film on Youtube. I can't link you to it, because of the explicit language. He sounds incredible - exactly like Tyson. Not only that, he bares a fair resemblance to him, even without the makeup work.

He has the voice completely down.

Ok...just because you don't have an interest in it (honestly the idea sounded like a parody to me) but that doesn't mean it's not happening. 2 boxing films dropping this year. One of them stars a black kid.

I don't know if he finished it but he apparently worked on a Magnificent Seven remake as well.

Fuqua also told NPR that Horner did the Southpaw score for free because he was such a fan of the film.
"He called me on a Saturday, after he watched the movie, and I said, 'I don't have any money' because it wasn't a big budget movie," Fuqua explained. "And he said to me, 'I love the movie. I love the father-daughter relationship. Don't worry about the money. I'm just going to do it.'

And he did it for nothing. He paid his crew out of his own pocket."
