Nobody is saying the entire space program is useless but this mission certainly straddles that line.

Considering the clear benefits we've had thanks to the space program, I'd say we're not spending enough on it.

I'm appalled, to put it lightly, how short sighted some people can be.

I'd ask that people who don't care about this, not post in the thread, and leave it to the people that do care.

Neil deGrasse Tyson on NASA and the Federal Budget. Some truth bullets for you all!!

Passive aggressive insults towards others for having different opinions aren't tolerated. You're free to write whatever you'd like but attacking others for different opinions is not something that's allowed here.

If you can't remain civil then further action will be taken.

If others (so far, mostly mods, oddly enough) want to turn a science thread into a debate thread, I'm more than willing to provide, and back up my position (as I have). I'd prefer it not to be that way. Leave us alone, let us talk about this amazing advancement in peace

I don't believe it is your job to tell who can, and cannot post in a thread....anyone with an opinion, may post in here....having an opinion different from yours does not mean that they don't care, no more than your opinion means you care more...

People can post freely on this thread, thanks, but no thanks for your help. People will be allowed to post in this thread as they wish...unless a rule is broken, which I have seen nothing of that sort.

Rooster Teeth has a funny old Red vs. Blue NASA PSA on their site

I wish the mods would let this die. Last word. If you're going to enter the SPACE AND ASTRONOMY THREAD, to tell others that nothing is gained by the space program or that it is a money sucking black hole? Hey, if you're gonna post factless stuff like that, and then be dealt with appropriately with... facts... have the thick skin to accept it and move on. Throwing around your authority on this isn't impressing anyone and is only making you look like bullies who don't like to be challenged. Let's all grow up and move on.

Interesting set of videos. Mars in a Minute.

I am so tired, between watching the Olympics and the landing. Besides that August is going to be an incredible busy month for me. With that said, I'm loving the pictures that we're getting so far.

Watch the Curiosity rover land in time lapse shots!
