SPARTACUS: War of the Damned! Final Season!

For the love of god, could they please use subtitles in this show? I can barely decipher some of the dialogue from that stupid made up dialect they use on the show.

I don't have any problems understanding what they're saying.

Geez. Did everyone overindulge on the stupid pills this episode?

Other than Crassus' decimation of Tiberius' men and Spartacus "mystery" plan with the pirates, did anyone make a somewhat logical decision. Naevia is full of crazy. Crixus is drinking from Naevia's pool of crazy. Nemestes (or is it Drago) is so completely stupid that it was beyond belief. Crixus and Naevia's crazy also made then incredibly stupid.

Everything about Caesar's infiltration was so obviously false. I realise that we as the audience know that he is a spy, but surely it was obvious to everyone else. First he tells a sob story about being a house/body/sex slave for his master. Then he tells everyone he was in charge of protecting goats out in the field to explain his impressive fighting skills when battling a gladiator. Then he ends the suffering of a Roman prisoner. And still no-one suspects he is a Roman.

It's fair enough that things have to move quickly with only six episodes left, but everyone was acting really odd this episode. Spartacus is ignoring his people, despite the horse butcher opening his eyes a couple of episodes ago. Nasir is hanging out with Castus, despite the fact that he knows this will upset Agron. Gannicus is mourning some nobody Roman who was suddenly the most important person in his life. Tiberius lets his father treat him like dirt to earn his approval instead of standing up to him. Kore thinks she's helping her surrogate son Tiberius, but instead she ends up inflicting pain and suffering. Laeta thinks she can trust an ex-slave. Everyone was all over the place.

Nemestes (or Drago) was the worst of all. I can't believe they trusted someone so stupid with the task of revealing Caesar as a Roman. Even worse was Crixus and Naevia somehow falling for Nemestes' story that a badly beaten, naked, obviously tortured, used and abused Roman woman had attacked Nemestes and using this as justification for killing all the remaining Romans. Surely seeing Fabias' broken body should have been a wake-up call for Naevia. Or at the very least for Crixus.

Still, an excellent episode. There are clearly some very dark times ahead for everyone - Roman or slave.

Open ears and let words fall upon them!

I actually like the way they speak. Its to the point but has a rythm to it that reminds me of the way 16th century english was spoken.

And I agree, haephestus, the stupidity was contagious in this episode. At least Spartacus and Gannicus have sense left.

Just had a thought as to how interesting Henry Cavil would be in the role young Ceasar on this show.

I was thinking about the last episode again and did it seem like they just added more Romans in the city?

I thought they were a small group and was only those people in the stables. So, they wouldn't really affect how much food they needed since they showed how huge the army was.

**** has hit the fan. i keep wishing the original Naevia was in these scenes. This is the beginning of the end.

Does anyone else think that Caesar looks like a young Brad Pitt mixed with Chris Hemsworth

:D He certainly is yummy enough.

I'm just not buying this flip. Maybe if they had given them an actual campaign and then established this over an entire season for a credible reason and everything fell apart next season leading to the end then yeah. But 4 episodes into the largest part of Spartacus's campaign and one of his generals is letting a crazy woman turn him against spartacus and now suddenly the whole army is as paranoid as a couple of teen potheads courtesy of Julius Brad Pitt Caesar yaaaa....no. It was foolish to try to wrap this all up this season.

Thats the problem when you end a season with only 10 episodes when you have enough material to cover at least 2 seasons.

They released another clip. Didn't post it due to language, but you can still see how everyone Crixus and co. are still acting dumb.

Of course Agron and whats her name will most likely die when the annoying people will survive to fight another episode.

It's like whenever someone shows their loyalty, they get paid with death.

There was some really good action in this episode.

Naevia keeps getting more and more annoying

Indeed, I have loved this show from the start but the more and more this new Naevia is around the worse she gets.

Crixus would be better off without her, she has ruined him as a character.

Still not seen episode 5 yet.

Loving the addition of Caesar, be nice if the spirit of the show lives on after with him.

Another awesome episode. I can't believe that there are only five episodes left.

It's pretty amazing how abruptly they have turned Naevia into a Lady Macbeth type character who is always manipulating Crixus into taking control into order to cause the death of more and more Romans. It makes sense to a degree, particularly as her own sense of confidence has risen dramatically along with her fighting skills, but it does seem a little out of character.

And while I understand that the Crixus/Naevia storyline has been one of the most developed throughout the series, it still seems odd that Crixus is so easily manipulated by Naevia that he doesn't seem to question any of her actions. Or the one time he did, Naevia quickly turned it around until he sympathised with her point of view.

Tiberius certainly took a turn for the worse in this episode. It will be interesting to see how Daddy Crassus reacts when he learns what happened. I was a little surprised that Crassus left Kore unprotected in the slave camp. Did he expect that his rank/position alone would stop anyone from hurting her or even from stealing from her food and wine supplies? That seems a little odd, especially when he was leading his legions away from the camp at the time.

I do wonder where they are going with Gannicus' storyline. They seem to be pointing to a greater destiny for the character, yet there doesn't seem to be much time for him to undertake the rather radical character development that would be required to turn him into a leader. Sure, it seems as though Sibyl is helping him along. And it seems like he's going to have a re-match with Caesar at some point in time, but I'm not quite sure what is going to push him over the edge to make him fully embrace his role as a leader and "hero" to the slaves.

While I appreciate the equal focus on the "personal lives" of the gladiators, the fight between Agron and Nasir seemed unnecessary. We don't really have any basis for Agron's extreme jealousy of Castus, certainly not to the extent that he is risking his entire relationship by treating Nasir like a slave. I'm guessing it is all meant to be build up to an epic romantic resolution before they're both slaughtered in battle. It was great to see each of them get an awesome "hero" moment this episode, especially Agron's net ride down from the city wall and ongoing battle with Caesar.

And "yay" for the death of Nemetes. He was a coward right up until death.
