World Spider-Man 1977: Remaster it?

Watching the classic Spider-man films from 1977, i thought to myself. How cool would it be if they remastered those old films, kind of like how they are remastering the old Star Treks. They could fix up some of the fx, the music, replace the crappy villians with digital or costumed characters from the comics and wham you got a comic book come to life. Cause besides the bad guys, the show was not to bad...........

would have been nice to see the goblin, scorpion, doc ock etc..........

Man, at THIS point, i'd settle for a regular dvd release..hopefully with interviews and special features...

I'd like to see the 3 original TV movies and all 12 or 13 whatever episodes on one DVD boxset that would be nice. But no CGI'd-in villians please, that would be dumb.

The show was cheaply made & ill-conceived. The costume looked horrendous. His origin was weak. None of what I love about Spider-Man was present in this show. Digitally adding characters (which I don't even think could be done; suddenly there's a Green Goblin flying around & Peter doesn't see him?) would only make it worse. I say let sleeping dogs lie. Be thankful it wasn't on the air long enough to make a lasting impression on the uninitiated.

It won't happen because it's too expensive, and won't make the money back. That being said I would also be happy to see the full versions on DVD.

Remastering, yes, all the other stuff, absolutely no. The appeal of the show is that it's done for real. Apart from a few bluescreen shots in the pilot, it's really a guy in a Spidey costume being pulled up a skyscraper, it's really a guy swinging from a building on a rope (Fred Waugh in both cases).

It was actually a very popular programme. It was only cancelled because CBS didn't want to have too many superhero shows.

You know that style of suit 'angry eyes', well they are very sought after/expensive these days.
I think the show was great for what it was,- a campy 70's TV version of Spidey.
I say release em all of DVD. I'd buy em all.

It's just history, a time capsule that is Spider-man related.
Therefor I want it.
Plus it reminds me of when I was a kid.

It's just the same thing.

You don't like the live action SM TV show of the seventies, fair enuf.
I obviously like something about it, I guess I am just a Spidey (TV and Film) completist.

I actually bought the pilot movie & Night Of The Clones back in the 90's, when I feared that was as close to a Spider-Man movie as I was gonna get. And I tried to like it-I really did. But to me, Spider-Man is a guy who swings around, somersaults, dodges bullets, wisecracks, knocks bad guys out w/one punch, spins a web THAT CAN HOLD THEM, battles dangerous costumed supervillains & does it all to honor his Uncle Ben. This guy did none of those things. I just couldn't get into it.

I have the pilot/first arc, the arc he goes to Japan, and the arc some of his classmates make an atomic bomb on tape.

I can't see them coming out on DVD.

Watched the 70's show in late eighties.
Fav ever SM shows are the solo/friends eighties cartoons, second place the 60's show.

I used to watch The Electric Company just to see him. (I was 5.) Now that was cheesy. The costume wasn't bad, but he basically had no powers, didn't talk (his dialogue was supplied by word balloons) & he'd wind up his arm before unleashing a web. In terms of quality, it made the Nick Hammond show look like Lord Of The Rings.
