Spider-Man 2 Wishlist

I don't think I could ever find Miles better than Peter Parker, but I do like him as an accompanying character. It would be pretty cool to see him as a sidekick and perhaps play as him for a few missions as another Spider-Man.

My concern is that they are going to kill of Peter and make Miles the main character of one of the future games.
And how's that a bad thing? It worked in the comics.

Killing of Peter worked in the comics, we just got this Insomniac depiction of Peter. It would be a massive waste of a cool character. And this version of Miles just isnt very interesting

I don’t agree really. Sometimes it’s hard with video game sequels when you play as a superhero who gets stronger throughout the game and then in the sequel gets smacked right back to square one and you have to level up again. Having miles is a great way to show a Spider-Man learning and developing and getting stronger without becoming boring or regressing.

Plus miles is super cool

Playing as Japanese Spider-Man would be awesome! I love that this first PS4 game created a good foundation for future games to come. They have a lot to build off of and a lot of cool new things that they can add to it.

Same! I’m dying to see what they announce. I wonder how long it takes to make games like these? They won’t be releasing them as frequently as the MCU movies

I want the ability to wallcrawl from rooftop. I was very surprised when that wasn't possible. Similarly, I want to be able to wallrun downwards.

Hope for more higher altitude swinging. Most of the swinging gameplay footage I am seeing in the first game seems mostly ground level, or maybe the buildings are not tall enough?

To be honest it drove me absolutely mental trying to wall crawl especially when there were bombs that needed deactivating

- I want that they build a new physics engine specifically the movement of Spider-man in mind.

- more ways to experiment with traversal. and parkour button needs to be separate from the swing trigger

- more nuanced and fluid wall crawling controls, more interior levels to accommodate this.

- combat with more physics based feel

- no half-hearted stealth like the MJ and Miles sections

- b-level and c-level villains in side missions

- I don't mind if we dont get outside of Manhattan as long as there's more depth to the city.

- cameo from the Daredevil

- rougher boss battles. I wanna get frustrated and hone my play before I get even a chance of beating up a big super villain (this might not happen due to the mainstream aspect of the game)

- music that is less generic

Would love a slingshot maneuver while traversing. Would be cool to see how far you can get before hitting a building.

Because I like Peter Parker waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than Miles? Peter Parker *IS* Spider-Man. Killing off Peter Parker so early in the game franchise would be a really bad move. I am okay with playing as Miles from time to time as a side character at best.

As far as it "working in the comics," this was done in the Ultimate universe. I kept up with Miles for a while but I lost interest very quickly.

The only alternative Spider-Man that I really like is Spider-Man 2099, but I don't think we will see him in any of these insomniac games.

And that's the reason we shouldn't play as Peter in the sequel? In either case, you are somewhat starting from scratch with a new game. I don't want another title where we have to go through a character's learning curve. Peter Parker is 23 and experienced as Spider-Man, so I want to keep him as the titular character.

I think Miles is okay, but again, he's no Peter Parker.

It will probably take them 2-3 years to make a new game. Comparing to the Batman Arkham series:

Arkham Asylum: 2009
Arkham City: 2011
Arkham Origins: 2013
Arkham Knight: 2015

I'd like the actual web swinging to get changed a bit, it feels good, but I'd like it to be more physics based in the next game and let us hang onto the web until we let go, not just automatically release it, it'd be fun to be able to use our momentum to do a full vertical loop on the webline off of cranes, maybe a middle ground between the Ultimate Spider-Man web swinging and the SM2 web swinging, so that it's more physics based, but not so much that it's hard to control, and of course done to modern control standards, since USM and SM2 can feel kinda dated (especially SM2), it'd be nice to be able to just trust the web swinging mechanics to swing us around corners on its own, that's something that feels great in USM but in this game we just go straight forward regardless of where the webline is attached, how much momentum we have, and where we are in our swing. Wall crawling also should probably be completely overhauled, it's one of the few things in the game that I think isn't done well, a more polished version of the crawling from the ASM games would be excellent.

Wait, you COULD hang on to your web in the current game. Once you run out of momentum, he'll hang upside down. It's how I got some of ky upside down poses really high up in the skyscrapers.

That's not what I mean, once you hit a certain height in your swing arc, Spidey automatically lets go of the web instead of letting you hang on and do full vertical loop if you have enough momentum, it's one of the few cases where the game actively limits your control over Spidey's actions and it feels out of place to me, hanging onto the web during a slower swing where you don't go as high is entirely different from what I meant. Although on the subject of that, I also dislike the way that mechanic works, it's cool that you can do it, but you can't rotate at all once Spidey actually starts hanging updside down, you just have to hope he ends up facing the right direction for a good screenshot.

Miles Co-op, perhaps a cameo from one other Avenger.

It would definitely be fun to have some co op missions with daredevil and iron man

Spiderman should be able to move gracefully on anything, kinda like an acrobat but with wall sticking ability. attaching to any surface should be effortless and smooth. Stealth in particular felt very perch point-confined. Adding fluid movement between walls, the ceiling, pillars and whatever will definitely spice things up. They could kinda rework the parkour button to be an agility button. It sounds like the same thing maybe but the idea is to allow more nuanced movement. Holding L2 is functional enough, but it could add more diversity if you hold L2 and press a face button like X or O for different actions. This could also have combat applications as well

1) Playable Miles Morales Spider-Man. We play as him in stealth in the first one, there's like, no way he goes unused here. If it's available as Co-op then, honestly, the world will be a perfect place with sunshine and rainbows whenever the game is on.
2) More game-world. This can go to interiors, such as they have in many open worlds, even Arkham City had interior and subterranean geometry that was playable as linear levels. They also could expand to Queens or Brooklyn and generally just make an even more rich and to scale New York City. I wouldn't be entirely upset at that.
3) More adventure/puzzle gameplay for MJ. Stealth gets tired, though the stun gun helps immensely. Her figuring out the puzzle in the art gallery the way Spider-Man does in Li's office is a better direction for her. Even better giving her walking through the hallway exposition scenes to gather information. The MJ scenes made me care about her more, but I want to admire her, and that means she needs to show some capability.
4) Maximum Spider combat! Spider-Man's trademark dodge move is to hop high onto a wall. They've got him able to do it to short walls right next to him, but his ability to lash out and close distance is actually not quite as strong as Arkham Batman's. I'd like to see more of him fighting like that, even though it lessens the viability of melee foes, I think the Spider-Man feel is worth them having to throw rocks and stuff
5) Obviously, the whole Green Goblin/Harry storyline has to come through. Harry should probably be playable at some point
6) Honestly, I want a Venom/Symbiote storyline too... Symbiote Peter would be an AWESOME boss fight for Miles
7) I kinda want bosses at the end of every side mission storyline...
8) Obviously, more of everything, more diverse crimes and problems to run across.
9) A few classic villains (Sandman, Mysterio), with an origin story in there ala Doc Ock, tied to Miles. Also some highly elevated obscure villains we don't normally see, ala Mister Negative.
10) Gwen Stacy, unpowered, maybe? Or as DLC at least.

Playing the Turf Wars DLC made the problems in the wall crawling mechanic even more apparent. Damn, I hate it.
I really miss having a button to stick to walls. They can easily assign that to the O button and have it also be the dodge button at the same time. It worked before. Wall crawling downwards is also a problem. It's like Spidey is struggling to obey the command and he only wants to go up. Simply erase this mechanic and start again. It's terrible.
Another thing I miss is having a faster way to get out of a tough situation. When the combat is too chaotic and you need some space, you don't have time to charge your jump out of there.

I agree with the complaints regarding the web-swing. It does feel good, swinging around the city is fun and is probably the second best web-swing system, but there are things to twitch that can improve it a lot.

- First, I decide when to let go of the web line, not the game. It shouldn't let go when it reaches certain height.
- Second, I really miss a speed button to swing. It can be L2. When we're holding the line, it can be a speed button; when we let go, it becomes the aim/slow motion button.
- Third, the game removes the momentum created from a huge fall. The speed created from that is nulified once we spin a web. It was said they corrected that, I didn't feel it. Arkham Knight is a perfect example of how you take advantage of a speed fall. Both games have a button to dive but only one really takes advantage of it.
- Fourth, I miss having absolute control of the web-swing. In the almighty SM2 web-swing, we could stick the web to poles, antenas and swing horizontaly. Sometimes, even diagonaly, depending on the speed you are.

They are nearly there and are the right people to do a Spider-Man game. I just hope they listen to our complaints and evolve even further. The sequel can be a 10/10 game.

I agree with circle as the wall stick button. it already bounces Spidey onto a wall when you point the stick, so it's an obvious fix. Also, gadget wheel can be one of the directional buttons so L1 is slow motion aim, and L2 is speed/parkour. Swinging to the side of a wall with R2 held, Spidey could run while on the web pendulum ala TASM movie.

Most of all, I think it's necessary to evolve further, as you said. If they're gonna have stealth, they have to put the same dedication into that as other core gameplay elements. Spiders are pretty stealthy creatures, so making cool stealth for Spider-Man shouldn't be too hard

I echo most of the comments about webswinging and wallcrawling.

Did anybody mention quickfire gadgets like the Arkham games?

Definitely would love to see a PlayStationverse Mysterio. So much you can do with him

IMO, the weakest part of the first game (excluding the MJ/Miles sections) is the quality and quantity of boss fights. The vast majority of the fights are way too formulaic, requiring you to dodge, then wait for an opening, attack, repeat.

I propose a 'paper, rock, scissor' combat system, that would make Spidey and the villains feel more evenly matched. Each character has a light attack, heavy attack and a dodge/defensive move. Light attack beats heavy attack. Defense beats light attack. Heavy attack beats defense.

This way the fights will stay challenging and unpredictable. The greater the distance you attack from, the higher the probability of being dodged/countered. When your opponents health is low, they will momentarily retreat in order to regenerate a small amount of health, causing them to take the fight to a new location.

Designed properly, a villain controlled by a human player should be capable of beating Spider-man.

I don’t know but if I had to choose the weakest part, some of the dlc feels a bit disjointed from the main game. Like the main story quest really got who Spider-Man is and loves him for it whereas the dlc is more typically video game bad ass moments, military superpower type stuff. Maybe having more comic booky dlc that’s consistent would be great

That was an trial and error for me. I think it took me 5 times to finish that specific mission which I had to deactive 10 bombs in 2 buildings. And its quite annoying, I was trying to wall crawl but poof Spidey jumped or swinged or fell into a different direction.

Id like to see Mysterio, Sandman, Lizard, Venom, Green Goblin and Wraith as the bosses, and I guess some unexpected ones like Hydro Man, Moltenman and other obscure villains like Spot. No more MJ as a playable character. I wouldn't mind Miles to be playable but since he has the powers now,he has to have combat skills/upgrades because I really don't want to play him if I can't upgrade his skills and if he is just gonna do stealth through the entire game again. And costumes as well. I'd like to use Black cat and Silver Sable in missions, and I want to see Prowler as well.

Some of those races are mercilessly frustrating.
Lego Marvel Superheroes 1 and 2 make me want to scream at the screen. Part 1, at least you could win vehicle races with any vehicle, so long as you didn't crash. With part 2, you need to have unlocked a fast vehicle, and when Ghost Rider's motorcycle can't hack it, I'm done. Also, the flying races are punishment from above. No less.

Me, I could handle Spider-Man game races, though. Personally, I want the following out of the next game:

THE BLACK COSTUME. I don't care if it's a symbiote or a cloth suit. Just...give me the greatest Spider-Man suit ever. NOW.

The rest of my list:
1) Green Goblin
2) Venom
3) MILES in COSTUME!!
4) LESS MJ missions. Like...none would be better.
5) More JONAH. Listening to him rant while webslinging was one of the greatest things ever.
6) SURPRISE ME again! I liked the shock death at the end of the first game. Ock's arc...all of it. They changed it up just enough to keep us guessing, and they made me want Ock to fight through his problems...even though I knew what his fate would be.

7) ALL THE OLD SUITS. None of that crap where we have to re-earn them, either. Give us all the old suits out of the gate. Seriously.

8) New suits: BLACK SUIT, Raimi Black suit, Comic Iron Spider (I hate it, but others don't), Scarlet Spider (Kaine), Amazing Spider-Man 2 suit (Movie may not have been top notch, but the costume was great), and Ben Reilly Spider-Man suit (I hate this one also, but others don't).

9) NO STINKIN' SCREWBALL!! In fact, show where she dies a horrible death at the hand of a dozen cannibals in prison. Whatever it takes to ensure I never have to hear the word "photobomb" again.

Aside from that, just keep the mechanics of the game the same, and I'm happy. I've beaten this game sideways, and I still play it for fun. That's the mark of a great game for me.

Zombie Spider-Man as a suit would be fun. Especially the superpower it would unlock

Definitely no more Miles Morales as a playable as he is getting his own game

Who I wantto see as bosses
-Mysterio
-Sandman
-Lizard
-Venom (either Eddie or Harry or both)
-Green Goblin
-Wraith
-Hydro Man
-Moltenman
-Spot

Insomniac could be saving some of those for a 3rd game but whatever. The more the merrier! *twip*
