SM3 was a big disapointment, but it is a little more watchable than The Last Stand.
But on the other hand..I fully expected The Last Stand to be poor so I can't call it a disapointment...I had high hopes for SM3 ad was let down.

I don't mean to sound like an idiot, or someone who is a poor judge of movies, but I enjoyed both movies. X3 had some flaws, but I didn't expect the quality of the first two with a new director. Perhaps the quality surprized me, and I liked it even more. Spidey 3 was an EXCELLENT movie. I felt it was it even better than the second! (This isn't sarcasim. It's my real opinion). Don't flame me over it. But Spidey 3 was REALLY GREAT, while X3 was pretty good.

The only bad thing about X3 was Xavier and Cyclops dying. Outside of that it's a solid superhero movie.

The action is on par with X2 and the plot is superior to X1 and X2.

It's just trendy to hate Ratner. If the same movie was directed by Singer the same people bashing it as the worst comic book movie would be saying it's not that bad.

While Spider-Man 3 wasn't the near perfect adaptation that the first two movies were, it was still a pretty damn good movie.

X-Men: The Last Stand was vastly inferior to its predecessors (I'm not blaming Ratner on this, he did the best with what he had, blame 20th Century Fox on this one), and was a bad movie. I just try and look at it as a movie and not as a comic book movie, but it just crapped over so much material that I just couldn't. Also, the movie had pretty much no character development, it was a huge deathfest, and it should have gone a completely different route.

Spider-Man-3 definitely is better than X3, in more ways than one.
The one thing that they do share is that they both suffered the "3rd installment curse". The latter just went balls on the wall stupid.

I agree that it wasn't entirely Ratner's fault.
I love his movies, and the only people to blame is Rothman and FOX.

I have to say I enjoyed SM-3 better, although I enjoyed both films. I wasn't particularly impressed with X2: X-Men United (I liked X-Men the best) and I enjoyed X3 as solid popcorn entertainment. I don't think it's bad like everyone says it is, Ratner did deliver in terms of action and scope. But the ending was rushed and the many demise of characters did cheapen the movie.

I did find Spider-Man 3 slightly disappointing in terms of cramming in characters to appease the fans and producers alike, but I found it a more satisfying movie in terms of character development, overall action and character arc resolution.
