Spider-Man: Brand New Day General News and Discussion Thread

If Mr. Negative is the villain, having a parallel with Banner’s own Jekyll/Hyde journey could be interesting. And he’s a marquee MCU star, so I see that being more appealing to the studios over Charlie Cox.

I also think Hulk's lack of role in the movies post-Endgame is a factor.

So if it was between
Daredevil and the Hulk (which also doesn't have a solo show), Hulk is the more obvious choice for a supporting movie role.

Savage Hulk being a villain would make no sense. Even at his most savage, Hulk is not a villain.

I suspect that Hulk/ Bruce Banner , will serve the role and function that The Lizard/ Curt Connors normally has done in the Spiderman myths .

As Banner, he'll be one of Peter's teachers and Mentors, but as The Hulk, he'll be an out of control threat to Spiderman and everyone else.

By the same token , I think Mr. Negative/ Martin Li will serve the function normally held by Norman Osborn / Green Goblin , i.e. he's a well respected man , whose really a villain .

Since Connors and Osborn were exploited in the last film, I could see how, in the MCU, Banner and Li could play those roles instead.

I think that Tombstone, Scorpion, and Boomerang will be henchmen or hired muscle as opposed to being the main villains.

I really hope Savage Hulk isn't the main villain like some rumors are saying.

Rumor mongers/grifters have been pushing the World War Hulk stuff for many years. Which I don’t give a **** about - Hulk peaked for me with that Ang Lee movie about trauma and abuse. I don’t think all these Hulk characters are the draw that some think they are.

I don’t necessarily have a problem at all with the idea of Banner in the new movie but I think people would rather Spider-Man combat Spider-Man’s cast of villains.

I'm really glad to see a fellow fan/defender of Ang Lee's Hulk. It feels like a relic of a time when superhero movies were willing to take risks.

I do want a Ruffalo solo Hulk movie, so I want this long rumored World War Hulk movie to be real. I just don't think it is.

I wasn't a fan of it when I saw it back in 2003 , but I do have a new appreciation for it, having watched it again after 20 years .

My favorite actor to play Bruce Banner is still Bill Bixby, from back in the day .

I like what Hulk was trying to do more than I like the movie itself. I actually don't hate the CG by then 2003 standards, the editing, or any of those things. Not even the story. It's the performances. I get they're going off a repressing emotions idea, but everyone except Nick Nolte and Sam Elliot are way too stiff to the point thay they're boring. Which is a problem in a film that has as little action as Hulk does. If the performances were not so boring, I think I would love it.

The current CGI for Hulk and Hulk-adjacent characters looks like something from 2003 to me at times lmao. Which is why I'm not enthusiastic about him being in BND.

Its quite sad realizing there won't be another Hulk movie, so this character would continue to show up as a supporting character or guest in someone else' movie (Thor and Spider-Man) or tv show (She-Hulk).

Universal/Comcast controls the film rights. Marvel filed for bankruptcy 30 years ago so they gave away part of the store to other companies for money. Same thing to Sony and Fox.

There has been speculation that the contract has expired. With things like TIH coming to D+ and such. But we have no idea if that's true or not

We know their history, its just a ****** deal that haven't been resolved after more than 15 years without a new Hulk movie.

It wasn't a bad deal at the time though. We have to remember that in 2008, Disney wasn't involved. Once Disney bought Marvel, Universal became a problem.

The problem with having Hulk as a supporting character every time is that we never get to see Banner/Hulk develop properly. Some of the most interesting things about him happened off-screen.

I have an appreciation for Ang Lee's Hulk but The Incredible Hulk is still pretty much my favorite full-fledged Hulk related thing, even with all its flaws. The first half recaptured some of the vibe of the original series, which I appreciated. It hit all the right buttons for me... although truth be told I haven't rewatched it in a very long time.

what about a Grey/Joe Fixit type Hulk?

if Mr Negative can tap into Hulk/Banners balance and bring out a different Hulk side, he could be controlling him into being one of his enforcers

maybe to go up against revival Gang/Mob leader Tombstone

Hmmm....but that wouldn't be Savage Hulk as the villain then, like the rumor indicates. Still though, plausible

That would mean Mr. Negative is the main villain @Spider-Fan83 not Hulk.
