Spider-Man: Brand New Day General News and Discussion Thread

Alex P. has a decent enough record, but he has been so over the place with his Spidey 4 scoops that I'm convinced that he's just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks at this point.

Not to mention I'm agreeing with the idea that Sony would probably be reluctant to feature a character as the main villain that they don't own.

Mr. Negative is still the safe bet to me.

Silver Samurai and Viper being villains in this absolutely zero sense and is very random. Hoping it's bullcrap

I love when scoopers put something out into the ether, it catches fire with anyone gullible to report or speculate it, whether on Twitter, social media, or message boards like here, and then they have to double back and say 'No no no, I wasn't saying it's true! I'm just saying...'
Tbf in his original article, he does say it was based on what he thought from looking at concept art. He never said it was actually them.

Silver Samurai and Viper (out of all villains) as Spider-Man movie villains sounds like an April Fool's joke.

I hope we can get a confirmation (a press release instead of paparazzi pics) when filming starts soon.

Shang-Chi team up would be fun, though.
and that's the only thing that would even made since for the Silver Samurai and Viper rumor...

but, why a Shang-chi Spider-man team up....

what is Spider-man doing in Japan? or why'd Silver Samurai come to NY? what's the connection

other then wanting to remind people that Shang-chi exists (without giving him his own solo sequel) before he shows up in Doomsday or other projects again

an I guess Silver Samurai and Viper helps establish that mutants and the X-men exists as well... (or just cause now they have the rights to these characters back and just want to start using them, idk)

I think the more likely situation is Alex saw concept art that featured a person dressed as samuari and a person with green hair. That doesn't automatically mean they are Silver Samurai or Viper, that's just the conclusion he jumped to.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are just no name henchman for someone else. And again that's if all this info is legit.

A Shang-Chi/Spider-Man team up would just feel random. But I wouldn't be against it, if it gives us that SC2. That one really got lost in the mix.

Makes more sense for Silver Samurai to come to America than both Shang-Chi and Spider-Man to go to Japan. As for why? Probably some kind of crime convention. Bring Maggia, local gangs, and Yakuza all together.

That being said, I don't particularly care if Viper and Silver Samurai are in the movie. I like the characters, but I'd rather Spider-Man focus on Spider-Man's rogue's gallery.

This is.. unexpected. Not only Streetlevel, but with Punisher you also add a more serious and dark tone for the movie.

Now the rumor is that the original script for 4 had Spider-Man and The Punisher teaming up against The Hulk.

Just about everyone and everything has been rumored to be in this movie at this point.

I also forgot it was previously brought up in this thread as well lol

Silver Samurai and Viper are terrible ideas for a Spider-Man movie.

Giant Freakin Robot (censored links here) was the first website that said more than 2 years ago that when Bernthal resigned with Marvel it was for both Born Again and Spider-Man 4. Their speculation based on his signing was the movie being inspired by the 1980s Gang War storyline.

There are a lot of comic book stories that Marvel could mine to make for either a team-up and/or a clash between Spidey and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher in Spider-Man 4, but we would be surprised if it isn’t at least partly inspired by the 1986-87 Marvel Comics storyline “Gang War.” Running from Amazing Spider-Man #284 to #288, “Gang War” had a long list of Marvel’s NYC-based mobster-themed villains — e.g. Kingpin, Silvermane, Hammerhead, The Rose — clashing for dominance with little care for who got caught in the crossfire. All sides of the conflict enlisted super-crooks like Jack O’ Lantern and Hobgoblin in the fight, and the war proved big enough to drag in other heroes and vigilantes like Daredevil, Punisher, Black Cat, and even Sam Wilson/The Falcon.

They were banned and censored here for good reason.

So Zendaya is officially back according to Hollywood Reporter?

Dead on arrival for me

Use Bucky Barnes as the Winter Soldier in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as a template on how to do a PG-13 Punisher without completely neutering him.

I expect Zendaya’s role to be small until she remembers Peter. There’s no point in giving her something substantial to do when she has no idea who Peter Parker is and no reason for her to care. If it were up to me I wouldn’t undue the spell for a couple of Spider-Man movies…wait for the finale to complicate things if you’re gonna undue it.
