I think they put the belt too low on Tom's torso. It makes him look bell-bottomed. And I don't know why they keep insisting on not having the front of the belt come down to a point.

Colors are great. Webbing is great. I'm just struggling with how they've chosen to shape the red sections of the suit. I miss the sharp angularness of the Raimi ones I guess.

While it's nice to have Gargan back, it feels like he should've been back in either Far From Home or No Way Home, even though I did like Mysterio in Far From Home. Having Scorpion back after all this time is like having The Leader show up over a decade later and in a Captain America film instead of a Hulk film.

Wait..

Anyawy, I'd be shocked if Gargan even still cares about Spider-Man's identity after all this time (did he get snapped?), and Toomes is off in the Sony-verse now, so he can't ask him about that anymore. Not that Toomes would remember Peter's identity post-No Way Home.

I was hoping Gargan would be back in NWH both to be the sixth villain for a "Sinister Six" and also so there was at least a villain representing Holland's Spidey alongside the ones from the Raimi and Webb movies. But at the same time if that had happened he would have definitely been severely short-changed in terms of screentime.

I'm just happy that they're finally bringing him into the fold. While Scorpion has never really been a main villain like Goblin or Ock, he's long overdue to show up in his suit in live action. I don't think it's going to be as jarring as other villains like The Leader or Abomination coming back after long absences because Gargan has presumably been in prison since Homecoming.

Yeah, my only issues are the belt being too low and not a point, and then the bulkiness of those web-shooters.

Very happy they didn't completely revamp the whole thing, and especially happy they kept the front logo the exact same.

Me thinks that Peter and Gargan both will get the Symbiote at some point in the movie.

Especially if the Hulk is involved, Spidey's gonna need some extra alien backup.

No shot this happens, but it'd be great if the Hulk stuff is contained to only the middle portion of the film. Have it built up as this huge issue only to be resolved quickly because Peter made Hulk laugh like he did in the comics that one time

I'm missing the light blue sides from the NWH ending. It's fascinating to see how much Holland has grown over the years. He really gives that slightly more matured vibe judging by the short footage.

I guess when Kevin said it was "street level," he meant that there'd be streets in it.

He’s “street-level” insofar as being a bit more grounded than some of the other Marvel heroes and comes from and operates a lot on the street in regards to the locations of the threats he usually faces and takes down. But, if by “street level” people are referring to wanting him to be more grounded and realistic, I’m sorry, but that hasn’t really been Spider-Man’s modus operandi for nearly 60 years.

Emotionally grounded? Sure. Physically and figuratively grounded? Debatable. And, even with the character’s humble beginnings, he’s always been a fantastical character. I mean, the comic he originated in is literally called “Amazing Fantasy”, a comic line which consisted of science fiction and fantasy stories about various monsters and weird situations.

Throughout the years, he’s fought a giant green rage monster, a mutant with metal claws and a healing factor, mechanically augmented mad scientists and criminals, superhuman billionaires and mob bosses, robots, and alien beings from outer space, and so much more I could list that would take forever to put down. Hell, Spider-Man: TAS, which a lot of people my age who grew up watching it considered to be their favorite depiction of the character, has the most outlandish, campy and ridiculous (in the best way) situations, characters and crossovers and is probably the most comic book-y iteration of the wall crawler in any film or TV medium, even including the MCU version with Tom Holland.

The closest Spider-Man has ever come to being grounded was the Raimi films, maybe even the Spectacular Spider-Man animated series (heavily influenced by the Raimi films and proudly wears it on its sleeves), and even those barely tapped into the breadth and width of the variety of fantastical villains, threats, and situations that he’s faced throughout his entire comic run. The Raimi films were probably where a lot of people get the idea that he’s more grounded and realistic, and the example they have set has kind of distorted what the character and his world are actually about and can do.

It’s literally just this comic design, down to the color pattern arrangement (compare the shoulders and upper arms)…

..,with some design elements carried over from the NWH suit, like the logo (legs slightly tweaked to be longer) and the amount and arrangement of the webbing…

… the raised webbing level from the TASM 2 suit…

…not to mention the bulky, clunky and crude looking make of the web shooters very much giving vibes of and being very reminiscent of Steve Ditko/John Romita, Sr.

They took the best elements of each of these things and quite literally probably created one of the best Spider-Man film costumes to date.

Even though I miss the colors from the end of NWH I'm happy that it still looks like classic Spidey.

With the exception NWH, the MCU Spidey films have been a bit mid for me. But I'm liking what we're hearing so far so I'm cautiously optimistic this will click with me more.

I imagine they'll keep the moving. It's pretty embedded into the MCU Spidey presentation, and they already had him make them for his homemade suit, meaning it won't be a huge stretch.
