Ok The final movie in phrase 3 is in 2019 and The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is coming out in 2018 so I think they should forget about The Amazing Spider-Man 4 and finish The Amzing Spider-Man franchise with a bang before handing over Spider-Man back to Marvel to Re-Reboot The Character for phrase 4

Yeah, I mean honestly, phrase 4 could potentially be phraser than phrase 3. Assuming Spider-Man mamkes an appearance somewhere between phrase 4 and phrase 5.

wish people would get it right... it's 'PHASE', NOT 'Phrase'... doesn't anyone use the correct words anymore?...

will there even be a phase 4? and if so where will the MCU be at that point anyway?

exactly. it's kinda weird to think about what happens after the cinematic Infinity War. What are they gonna build up to after that? Are people gonna care after that?

I think a post Infinity War period is fertile ground for great stories. The Thunderbolts can establish themselves in the power vacuum. Smaller threats can arise and be confronted by younger heroes. The Avengers can have the founders pass the torch to new members or even go full Disassembled/New Avengers. GotG and Doctor Strange can focus on their own corners of the MCU and establish Cosmic Marvel and Supernatural Marvel. There are plenty of places they can go after phase 3.

As for something to build to, I'd like to see an organization founded to train, teach and support younger heroes. Ideally, it would be the Future Foundation with the FF and Spider-Man, but Avengers Initiative could be an alternative.

I think a smaller scale, more personal phase could serve as a palate cleanser between looming threats.

You know it's all well and good that Marvel movies are rolling on. I honestly don't care how fertile a ground there is for more stories with Thunderbolts, midnight Sons, Great Lakes Avengers, etc...

I want to see great films with Spider-Man in it. Cap is cool. IM interesting. Thor. Strange. Ok. I want to see Peter Parker. I would be ecstatic to see a well filmed encounter with the Sinister Six. One hero versus six guys who individually could kill him if not for his whits and amazing ability.

I love the MCU. Especially enjoyed the ragtag space opera in Guardians. But it is sad to see Spider-Man, once king of Marvel films, a pauper. Still do not understand why Sony killed off the best character their films had generated so early. Why rush Gwen's demise? For that matter why rush GG encounter? Sigh...

Angryfantastyfan, I apologize if I came off disrespecting your post. I actually agree. A smaller scale story is in order. Yeah it's a universe they share but the beauty of Marvel takes are they about the individual, warts in all. It's fun that they build to larger story but a single story and resolution to that tale are just as powerful.

I'd like to see it, and with Evans and RDJ almost certainly not returning for phase 4, Marvel will want another from their top tier to be the anchor point for the universe. Spidey makes sense for phase 4.

Kinda depressing that all the jokes about a 2nd reboot for 2022 seem to be ending up being true.

Well people cared after the infinity guantlet in the comics. They have 50 years of comics that they can use.

Although a reboot in 2020s wouldn't be a bad idea. The franchise would have gone for 15 years, and could rest so another could come out. Hopefully FFINO bombs so Marvel will be able to have F4 be the first movie of MCU2.

general audience is a little different from the common comicbook fanatic. but you have a little bit of a point

I think it's the comic fans who are pushing for larger and larger multi franchise event stories like World War Hulk or Secret Wars. Based on GotG's performance, the general audience just wants entertaining movies.
