it's like east and west now.

maybe this thread will be merged but I have to have my say

60's
genius kid get bitten by a radio active spider uses smarts to create webs
creates red and blue outfit out of home made materials
hides his identiy from his aunt and the world
works hard to make his way in the world

00's
can see in the dark
can shot spikes out his wrists
has organic webbing
has high armour (yellow and red)
lives in a skyscraper
married to a super model
world knows his identity
goverment funded

seriously that is like two COMPLETELY different characters

now how much has batman changed?
or superman? or ANY high profile iconic character that is known the world over.
there is progress and there is completely rewritting the basic concept of a character, that's like making batman poor or taking away superman's ability to fly.

if someone has created a similar thread please merge this

the powers things are quickly being forgotten, and the armor is temporary, we all know. You might as well have started this thread about Batman when Jean-Paul took over the mantle

The originals? Alot, actully. Batman married Selina Kyle, they had a daughter named Helena who became Huntress, and then he died

It's called change. Some hate it,some love it.Either way, just have to deal with it.

I think it pisses on a lot of people who are Spider-Man fans.

Luckily, I'm not a Spider-Man fan :p

You know, originally, Superman didn't have the ability to fly? Just FYI.

He's recognizable, as long as he shifts the new Spidey armor into the classic red and blues, it'll be all good.

It's called "Character Development". Maybe you've heard of it. It helps stories becomes less of the same repeated thing over and over. If spiderman was still a young kid that lived in Aunt Mays house who did all that crap from the 60's, people wouldn't still be buying his comics, because it would be the same exact thing as the past 40 years

yup, and let's not forget that Batman used a gun

Why don't you just buy all the essentials up to where you don't like what's happening in peter/spiderman's life. Then re-read them a countless number of times, then you'll have your wish.

Deal with it!

I like the organic webs, and being married to MJ I don't mind, the rest, ugh.

spider man worked for what he has

Exactly. The story is moving on with his life. I don't like the unmasking thing, but I have a feeling they are gonna make up some way where everyone forgets who he is , or they find out/think its a hoax.

I think new readers are thinking that Spidey could easily sell the web shooters for money. Also, If someone that was strong, bought the web shooters, he could be a powerless Spiderman ,kind of like Batman, so they decided to make the web shooting his power. I like inorganic webbing better, but the organic doesn't bother me.

Spider-Man already tried selling his web formula. I doubt he could market his webshooters with the formula because, without his powers, it'd basically be like inviting people to kill themselves.

it'd still have uses, especially for police. A compact, non-lethal restraining device? are you kidding me? Law enforcement would be ALL over that

Provided they can get whomever they use it on to a cell within an hour.

I don't think Spiderman unmasked is really going to change all that much honestly. I never even liked Aunt May doesn't know and she was a non-enity around the height of my Spiderfandom.

let's see here:

captain america
the x-men
the avengers
daredevil
luke cage
the hulk
the fantastic four
iron man

ALL completely different from their first appearances. by your logic, this makes them worse. tell me then, why are you still reading comics?

Yes they fixed it, but it's comparable to what they've done with Spidey recently.

And it's not like Spider-Man won't be fixed eventually either...

I hope not. The worst crap storylines are people trying to "fix" Spiderman. I blame the nostalgia ridden writers at marvels for such abominations as the Clone Saga (we need a YOUNGER Spiderman), the return of the Jackal (ugh), the attempts to kill off Mary Jane, and ruining Aunt May's awesome death issue.
