A board for discussion on, Danny Elfman and Christopher Young's scores, for the Spider-man Trilogy.

Sorry if this has been done.

good music for every film. top quality. some of the best in cinema

I agree. I thought the scores for all 3 movies were, and pardon the pun, spectacular. Spider-man,Doc Ock,Venom and the symbiote's theme come to mind. Great stuff!!

Amazing music that is fantastic to listen to. Danny Elfman and Christopher Young have done a fantastic job on all three films and I hope the themes are used in the upcoming Spidey films.

What about the Goblin theme? I thought it was awesome.
Yes the scores are spectacular, and amazing. Maybe even sensational.:woot:

I thought the music was spot on. They both really nailed the themes! I'm only disappointed that the soundtrack for SM3 was never released.

I love the music for all the Spidey films. I think the Elfman theme is pretty iconic, despite what people say, and I always get chills whenever I watch the opening credits for all 3 films. I also love Young's stuff a lot, especially when we are first introduced to Black Suited Spider-Man.

agreed
i love black suit spideys theme, venom's theme,
and the music that plays when spidey is sitting on the church tower.

I can't get enough of the Bank Heist track from SM2, as well as "MJ's New Life".

Oh yes, love Elfman's score. Ock's and Spidey's theme's in particular.

All three had good scores. I think Elfman's scores were a little more complex and "epic," with more of a mature undertone grounding it and Young's was a little more cartoony and light, but both were good. I will give Young credit for the Sandman theme (which he uses in variation during the flashbacks and the great birth scene), the church scene which combined the spidey theme with his dramatic symbiote theme and the use of Elfman's themes when Harry shows up at the end of SM3. I also really liked the music he used when Harry Osborn died.

I think overall I'd be really interested to see what Elfman would have come up with in SM3, but I'm happy with Young's work that created some fine music in crucial scenes. And while not iconic like many fans hoped, Elfman's score and themes for the first two movies are very poignant and unique that give them their own little epic-ness.

Vis is going to hate that last comment. :p :D

While I kind of agree that Elfman's score is more "epic," I think that Young's score has some complex pieces to it. I'm still hearing new parts in the Black-suited Spider-man theme. otherwise, nice review. Is it just me, or are the scores for SM1 and SM2, recorded differently then SM3's?

Well, because.....he's Visionary. :woot:
Oh yeah.:funny:

Can anyone tell me what instrument it is that plays the Goblin melody in "Spector of The Goblin," track? I'm wanting to say it's some kind of saxophone or clarinet, but I'm not sure.
It's at approximately 1:10-1:23.

^ Rubbish? Not really. The only problem was the symiote theme having a couple elements from Elfman's "Batman Theme".

Yeah, and when you get deep into the music, the "Batman" similarities disappear. Or atleast that's what happened for me.

Yeah, I kind of forget that there's a small taste of Batman there, but I still remember it. I guess what I'm saying is, it doesn't ruin the experience.

^^ I think alot of people didn't, but that's a good thing because it shows that there is not repetitiveness with music.
