It also seems Feige likes the classic Ditko/Romita ear villains and not the more modern ones - this has the stink of Avi and Rothman all over it...

I'm curious to see just how much better Hardy's Eddie Brock will be in the hands of someone like Andy Serkis. I actually do have high hopes for that Venom sequel, because I do believe Hardy could be great in the role, but he needs a much better script than what he was given in the first movie. I enjoyed his interactions with the symbiote, but the writing could have been a lot better.

Venom had a mess of a script, but Tom Hardy and the symbiote were hilarious. It is a stupid as heck but fun movie.
I didn’t watch Venom till a long time after it came out because the trailers made it look so dumb. There’s very little right with the film but I can laugh at the symbiote and what it does and says all day long, absolutely cracks me up. :hehe:

Pretty much and that's what I loved most about the Raimi movies. For the most part Maguire was very much a socially awkward loner who slowly began to become more and more confident after each film. I'm not against other heroes showing up at all, but I'd like to see heavy hitters like Doctor Strange more as potential teammates whenever the threat gets too big or out of control instead of a mentor type role.

This version of Spider-Man is old enough and experienced enough to work on his own by now IMO.

Exactly. I understand wanting Spidey to feel connected to the MCU after 5 movies by himself, but he's right, he doesn't need a mentor.
He already had Stark as a mentor, whether people liked that or not. I don’t see why he needs multiple mentors, especially as the death of Stark should be the impetus to put anything he learned from him (including life lessons) to good use.

I have zero problem with Strange as a mentor , if that is indeed the role he's playing in Spiderman 3.

I also don't have a problem with SM3 featuring Hardy's Venom , if the rumor is indeed true.

If both characters are crucial to the story, and that story is great and executed well, I'll have zero issues with their inclusion and their roles in SM3.

At this point we really don't know the story of SM3, though it certainly looks like it at the very least has something to do with the Spiderman multiverse.

At this point, there's more speculation and rumor ,than actual concrete facts, so to get worked up either way based on rumors, and possible negative outcomes if the rumors are true, is premature.

He has mentors because he is a teenager, and they want to make sure we know he is just a teenager and needs to learn stuff. they already have enough adult heroes in the MCU, so then if you have a kid superhero you can use him abit differently to highlight him being just a kid.

It reminds me of the Ultimate Spider-man cartoon marvel made.

Even the director of Spider-Verse is starting to vent. Happy to see some meaningful voices:up:

Re: Tom Hardy, between how cartoonish he was in Venom, and in Capone, he needs to rein himself back in a little bit.

I always like that Uncle Ben was so important to Peter, and that when he died, the kid was forced to grow up fast while using the lessons/principles Ben had taught him. That would be diluted with yet another mentor and different lessons, also meaning he can still depend on the new adult rather than having to fully face the great responsibility that has always burdened/defined Peter.

I love Cumberbatch’s Strange though and I’ll be happy to see as much of him as possible.

If anything, I'll be happy to see more hilarious interviews with Tom Holland and Benedict Bumberbatch trying to prevent him from spoiling s***. :funny:

It will be irony if the first time we hear With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility in the MCU, it likely will be said by Tobey Maguire Spider-Man.

I mean, I'd still like that. Your older self (or a version of it) is going to be a great teacher.

I quite like the idea of the inclusion of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield into this version of the films as it brings universes together. I don't know if they will do this in this film or the next. But I hope they don't stray too far from Spideys adventures.

Looking back at the past, Spectacular Spider Man tv show was pretty ideal story wise for how they played everything and it was well received....

Spider Man is and always was a lone superhero.

(Side note: as a fan of Mary Jane from the comics if they ever decide to cast her or re:cast her Sierra McCormick looks and would be super ideal for a young MJ working with Tom Holland.)

It will be super interesting to see what direction they go in as they could do anything.... Doctor Strange appearing may really help or really hurt this series of films.

I just hope they don't get bored/frustrated/run out of ideas as they did with Andrew Garfields series and cancel it, as it seems/comes across as sloppy and lazy...
