Yeah I'm not getting my hopes up about a Raimi directed Spider-Man 4 either no matter how much I might want it. Having Maguire come back in any capacity would be satisfying enough honestly even if its just for a brief cameo, but expecting a TASM 3 or a Spider-Man 4 just sounds a bit too much IMO.

At this point I would also wait to actually hear some confirmations first before getting too excited, but I know that's hard when pretty much everyone else on the internet is running with it and hyping it up nonstop.
 
All I know is Sony has for years tried to squeeze this for all it's worth, so while not likely, completely dismissing SM4 or ASM3 is silly based on Sony's track record. We've heard the Kraven The Hunter movie would have a Spider-Man in it, maybe it's Maguire or Garfield instead of Holland? Venom itself looked like it could have been in the ASMverse, maybe Garfield appears in a Maximum Carnage crossover down the line? If the multiverse angle comes true, I think these are all possibilities.
 
Eh, agree to disagree for now. I just can't see it happen.

Not sure your reference here works because fetch has happened multiple times already (90s cartoon, Shattered Dimensions, and Spider-Verse,) was popular? Is it dumb for Sony to try it? Maybe? But it's not like people are not excited at the prospect

Uh, have you been Internet-ing lately? Or even been reading these boards?

One can dislike the Spider-Verse idea all they want, but stating that no one would be excited about it is massively untrue.
 
The response to the idea has been mostly positive from what I can tell. It's basically the best way to make fans of all three franchises happy.
 
I don't buy it it will happen. but i do buy it was probably an idea brought up in a Sony board meeting and stuck on the ideas list next to the Uncle Ben and Aunt May spin off.

Sony need as many ideas as they can get for this one brand.

There are some fans who are resistant to a Spiderverse Spiderman 3, but for the most part, the response from the fan community has been excitement at the prospect.

If Spider-verse does happen, it'll be a great marketing tool to appeal to the GA as well as fandom.
 
I'll say that it's the only thing that would make me pumped for MCUs 3rd Spider-Man film. and it'll be a good way to please different generations of fans. The ones who grew up with Raimis movies, which is me, the ones who grew up with garfields, or the ones who have with the Holland movies.

The Ben May spinoff will crossover with Venom 3 to eventually setup Sony’s most ambitious franchise, Aunt May Carnage. It is time.

I think something Spiderverse related is happening, this has become the talk of the internet for weeks and theres no way Sony hasnt been paying attention. “Those rumored castings are not confirmed”— a very carefully worded response from Sony instead of flat out “no those rumors are untrue.” I think something is up.

Another scooper, who people say is very reliable, said on his patreon that Tobey has signed on as well. I do think with the amount of rumors, there has to be something. Not sure what exactly, but I agree something is up.

I agree that Sony probably would straight up deny it if it wasn't true. after all it would be a bad idea to get people worked up just for nothing to come out of it.

Well, there's a ton of smoke , ashy air, and wailing sirens from fire trucks, for there to be no fire.
