"Well, unfortunately I had to read it in sections because there is an element of figuring it out as we go on this one, as there is with most of these big movies, but it is fantastic. It’s easily the most ambitious standalone superhero film I’ve ever been a part of. It’s incredibly exciting, it’s funny, it’s emotional, it’s everything that you’d want in a superhero film. I’m loving it. I mean I’ve loved all of them, but I’ve never had as much fun as I have on this one. Being with Jacob [Batalon] and Zendaya again, being with Jon Watts again, with Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige and all those guys, it’s just like a family. We’re having a great time and we’re really, really making something very special."

Not sure if he's being 100% truthful or still being coy about a lot of things. Not much else to dissect here.

I doubt he's being truthful. Once again, he's trying to throw fans and the press off the scent. I'm pretty sure they have things locked and loaded as far as the script goes and they know exactly where they're going.

Things can and do change of course during the filmmaking process, but I doubt they're playing it by ear.

Holland today:
“It’s like when people ask you questions about the ‘Spider-Man’ movies that they know you can’t answer,” Holland says. “And you’re like why would you even? Do you really think I’m going to tell you? But anyway, moving on, sorry.”

Is that from another interview he did recently?

Would you mind sharing the source?

No big studio product movie like Spider-Man is gonna be making it up as it goes along. He knows what's in it. He's playing coy because they literally aren't allowed to talk about a lot of stuff.

I actually think its possible this film could have an element of that to it. as it is one of the multiverse movies which means they could be keeping it open to addons or customisation if they think of something cool to throw in

While scenes can change, dialog can change, things can be dropped during production etc, I highly doubt its as Holland seems to imply, which is basically that they're winging it .

Feige and Marvel usually has they're stuff together, so I find it highly doubtful that they're just going where the day takes them. If it were just Sony alone, or even WB, then yeah, I could believe they were just making it up on the fly since that's been their prior pattern.

Feige and co don't really seem like the kind guys who fly by the seat of their pants when it comes to these films. They have it together.

Holland's statement is meant to discount alleged scoops about the plot of the film, how it will play out, and who is cast.

The only big thing I could there being some uncertainty about is if it was true that Maguire was being hard to pin down in negotiations and they started production not being 100% sure if he was gonna be in it or not.

But that's making some big assumptions, including if Maguire is even involved.

Its possible and yeah people won't like me saying this, but its possible Toby's role was interchangeable. meaning if he said no, they would switch him up with someone else. so yeah they could have had 2 scripts. one with him, one without him. that happens sometimes.

I mean there is a good chance this film was happening whether Toby agreed to be in it or not. and since the multiverse is being set up anyway whether he says yes or not. they probably did have a back up plan.

Personally i still wouldn't be shocked if we saw more then 3 spider-men in this movie.

I definitely think Holland knows what's going on in the movie for the most part atleast when it comes down to the general story elements, but I wouldn't be suprised if they weren't telling him everything in advance like certain characters showing up for small cameos and such which isn't that important anyways IMO.

I don't see how he wouldn't know if Tobey or Andrew weren't in this though, because that seems like too big of a deal to keep under wraps from one of your main stars who will mostly likely be sharing some major scenes with those two heavy hitters whether they are exchanging dialogue or actual action set pieces.

Well, Sony refused Lord and Miller when they wanted Maguire/Garfield/Holland cameos in SpiderVerse because it was "too soon". Clearly they were preparing for this for some time so I highly doubt they started filming before they knew whether he would be in it or not. You have Raimi directing that other connected MCU movie, you have Pascal involved with this one... It's not like nobody knew what to expect from him. Maguire's looked quite ripped in photos since September or October and the only reason why these castings are not reported anymore is because Penske now owns all three THR/Deadline/Variety. Look at Supergirl, they tested 400 actresses and we didn't read a single line about that happening until they officially announced it. Look at Dr. Strange 2 production, they only announced three or four actors returning from previous movies plus two unknowns playing characters most people never heard about. We don't really read about which actors or directors have meetings anymore.

Here's hoping he recovers swiftly.

And there's this one tidbit in that interview that I'm really psyched for:

"“The film is incredibly ambitious, and I’m delighted to say that we’re succeeding in making it. It’s going really well. We watched a fight scene that we had shot a few weeks ago, and I’ve never seen a fight scene quite like it in the MCU. I’m really excited for audiences to see that.”

Really excited to see what this scene entails.
I hope we feel the same way when we see it.

.
That does happen, but that's usually before filming, not during filming. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case with Maguire during scripting and negotiations phase, though by this point, I doubt that would be the case. In other words, I don't think they're still hammering out a deal if there is one to be made.

In all likelihood , he's either in the film, or he's not ,at this point of filming.
