Please give me a Spider-Man game with the quality of the Rocksteady Arkham games.

That would be amazing. Not only are those great superhero games they are just great games. Knight, city, origins are all in my top like 5 games of all times and asylum like top 30.

Best case scenario: This is a Sucker punch developed Spider-Man exclusive game that is a new IP, not like a tie-in, but like Batman: Arkham. Not only that, but like others have suggested it'll be to hype up the movie which Sony really wants to do, so it'll have the promo status of Star Wars battlefront (hate it or love it, that game was pretty successful)

Worst case scenario: it's all bs. I mean, there has to be something to come out of this rumor. Almost anything is good. Unless it's all bs coz then it's fuxking nothing

It's totally possible because activision still has the movie rights. This could easily be based on the comics.

If its based of the comics I wonder what kind of a story would they use from the comics and what villains? This really makes me wish E3 was hear. Buy the way when I first looked at that link thing they other day and saw it say spectacular at first I thought it said it may be a spectacular spider man game like based of the cartoon I mean lol.

If it's based on the comics then please, for the love of Stan Lee, no over the top apocalypse story. It works with Batman to have a whole city in ashes cause all of his foes want a piece of him... not so much with Spider-Man. That's why Spider-Man: Homecoming sounds so promising, it looks to be "just another day" in the life of Spidey:
- Oh no the prom is later today but I have to stop the Vulture from blowing up the Oscorp tower!
- Oh no aunt may wants me to get eggs & milk but the shocker is currently pulling off a bank heist!
- I promised Gwen we'd study together (hehe) but the Sandman escaped from prison!

I don't think I can handle another WoS symbiote invasion, TASM1 burning NYC or TASM2 robocops let loose...
Just look at stuff like the spectacular Spider-Man TV show (the MCU Spidey actually reminded me of him A LOT), no need for the big apocalypse stories. You can easily craft an immersive experience without going armageddon.
I really hope the devs realize that Peter Parker is Spider-Man too. A good Spidey game could use some The Last of Us: Left Behind DLC moments that make you slow down and allow you to relate to the character. I'd die for a short "Gwen Date" mission where you walk around as Peter with Gwen through an amusement park/festival? That'd be an amazing contrast to the high velocity Spidey missions.

It would be awesome if they released Spider-Man 2 and Ultimate Spider-Man on PS4. It could be possible since they have released some PS2 games already.

they've released games without licenses. If Activision no longer has the Spider-Man license, then theres no chance that USM will see a release and if they truly dont have the movie license, then that wont happen either

Not on a comic per say but there where certain comics that the games where kind of inspired by.

I doubt it and dont think thats a likely scenario at all given how tight Disney has held onto their licenses as they've reaquired them. It seems they've been about quality over quantity, waiting for the best oppurtunity to give a studio the chance to make a great game. If they just got the Spider-Man license back, I highly doubt the first thing they are going to do with it is farm it out to some unproven technology that will have a limited userbase. They've been super-selective in the gaming industry and that would go against the way they've been operating. If the rumors of Sucker Punch are true there is no way they are doing a PS VR only title. None of the first party studios are doing that except Guerilla Cambridge (but they are just an offshoot of Guerilla)

I'd bet money that it will feature a teenage version of Peter. Most comic based games are their own original thing. I think the only one that was truly based on the comics (at least made prominent use of it) was Ultimate Spider-Man as that actually took place in between an early arc of the series and was written as a book that could have fit in that gap. setting the game in Spidey's younger, HS days would also let the game align with the new movie, even if it's not a direct tie-in.

you know that got me thinking. it'd be interesting if the spiderman game is canon to the spectacular spiderman cartoon and takes place where season 3 would've been for that show.

that way it could just delve right into a story from the beginning, no need for the origin story etc. like the homecoming movie

I'm actually starting to watch through SSM right now. only up to ep 8, I think, but I'm really enjoying it.

So, I wouldn't mind if the game is based on SSM.

nah, see that's the thing. if it were a movie tie-in, I think that's still up to activision to make the game. they have those rights till 2017 or something like that, and the game would be multiplatform.

the game we've been hearing about is a Ps4 exclusive. for all we know, this could be something about the MCU deal from last year; let's face it, that deal was still a miracle and in and of itself and maybe part of it was sony asking disney something like "oh yeahhh btw can we make our own Ps4 game while we're at it to hype the movie up?"
