World Spider-Man The Icon: The Life and Times of a Pop Culture Phenomenon

I'm happy everyone likes the book. I originally supplied them with over 300 photos to use for the book, and they could only use so many as the book was filling up fast. I thought it might be fun to post a few that weren't used in the publication here.

Here is something rarely seen, the Funstuff 1975 Web Shooters with store display.

Enjoy

I actually had one of those as a kid! So cool! :word:

Heres another moldy oldie...there's nothing like 25 year old collectible pickled onion chips. YUM!
Can you say "Botulism"? Here is yet another item that did not make the book. However, I am in the process of creating a Spidey collectible book which should take about another year to finish. Hopefully it will be a great companion to the ICON.

Lol, never saw those before!

Let us know when the new book comes out...

Here are some bubble gum cards based on the 60s animated series which I find very curious now. Does anyone remember Mephisto showing up in the old cartoon? He's featured in these set of cards with a funny spelling. :hehe: These pics are still part of the collection of photos not used for the Icon book. Still interesting because of the Mephisto appearance. I guess I'll have to go back over the old series to see if I can spot the scene where they might have used him, but I don't really think they did.

Heres an original sculpt for those into customs. I did not send this one off for the Icon book, but thought it might interest a few.

Hey Cap....take a look at 141 of the bubble gum cards.....can't remember the name of the episode......to your knowledge, were they trying to pattern the villain after annihilus?.....I always wondered.....I remember as a kid I made the connection as well because annihilus and the original cartoon debuted close to the same time....or at least it seemed like they did...

Not sure. I honestly never made that connection before. Good observation.

That's a great episode. That bug-guy was out on an uncharted Island, iirc....

You are correct...I loved his henchman Igor..."Buuttt Mastaahhhh"..and I had to google...apparently Annihilus made his first Marvel appearance in 1968....I believe this specific episode first aired in 1968....can anyone confirm that?

That was one of the episodes that featured footage from another Ralph Bakshi cartoon called "Rocket Robin Hood", most of which ran in the 1969-1970 season (three),...so if Annihilus came out in '68, it's entirely possible this guy was patterned after him.

I'm thinking that's from episode #46: "Up From Nowhere", or episode #48: "Phantom From The Depths Of Time"...

I have read and own quite a few books dedicated to the history of Spider-man/Marvel and this is by far the best.I learned everything about spidey and even new things about marvel itself.I even found it better then the Marvel vault.

I just bought this on Amazon.com. I am super stoked!

The Doc Ock Manga Twist em came out in 2004, but was not released here in the States. It was initially released in Japan, but then pulled from the shelves for whatever reason that I can't remember. One of my favorite toy items from more recent vintage. It harkens back to the old Marx 1968 windups.

So how is work on that spidey collection book going spideycollector?

Looks Awesome.Hey if you need any help just pm or respond in this thread.I'm an aspiring writer and journalist and would love to help in anyway.

Heres a small sample of a spread from my book.
Its coming along, but I have plenty of writing to do yet, and organization.
