Tonight's premiere will be loaded. With various behind the scenes of the PILOT features with the PILOT itself. To start off, just what exactly was I thinking when I set off on this massive task of organizing a "TV show" netwide, even though in teleplay format. 22 episodes in total, 40-50 pages each. Well. Below is a multiple chapter insider on the beginning of the series and how I percieve and changed some parts of the characters.

Television has always been a realm of the media in which a story can take time to unfold and come into being. Characters are further examined and their relationships are explored. As we move further into the 21st century it is evident that the special effects being created will some day be available on TV. As a film maker, I never did see TV as being a big outlet for me to tell stories, last winter changed my horizon.
In September of last year I was engulfed in a realm of the mythos of a famous super hero and his journey from adolescence to adulthood in the hit WB show Smallville. Smallville begins with a young Clark Kent starting high school and having to face his future destiny. The series itself started four years ago, but ABC Family re-runs got me intrigued into the Man of Steels journey and how he became who he is. Thus, I bought all of the DVD box sets and watched all of the seasons of the show, slowly and gradually watching Clark Kent become Superman and Lex Luthor become his infamous arch nemesis.
I wanted to write my own show, along the similar lines of Smallville but I didnt know where to begin. My original concept was a group of mutants starting of high school and gradually a new mutant would come into the story episode by episode. This plan for a show however, went no where because there was no definite finish. Thus, I set my sights on the Man without Fear. Daredevil the lawyer by day, vigilante by night masked red devil that fought crime and the Kingpin of New York City. But, once again I was lost at where to further this idea of a Law & Order meets Smallville type series. But, then I remembered the recent Spider-Man comic series that had come out.
Ultimate Spider-Man, although it has no definite story it told, Peter Parker was once again in high school starting off his freshman year. I decided that I would write a television series centering on Peter Parker and the Gwen Stacy character arc that was never exploited in any other form of media adaptation of the famous web slinger. Similarly to audiences turning in to watch Clark Kent become Superman, audiences would now be able to turn in and watch the story of a teenager slowly learn that with great power comes through great responsibility through trial and error Peter would eventually become the man behind the mask.

In a quiet suburban town located in Queens, New York an ordinary teenagers life drastically changes after attending a local science exhibit that is being hosted by Yuma Corp. Peter Parker is a freshman in high school, has a crush for the girl next door, gets perfect grades and isnt quite up to par when it comes to athletics and popularity. Peters parents were spies for the US government; although he does not know this, heroism has always been a strong point in the Parker family. Unfortunately, when Peter is first bitten by the radioactive spider he does not at first become a vigilante watching over New York City.
In a world post World War II, Peter is a teenager affected by the idealism we learn on MTV, teen movies and other popular venues of media for teenagers. Peter realizes that he is different and that due to this difference he could become an instant celebrity! Thus, he signs a deal with a crooked talent agent and soon finds himself changing in a lot of ways. Hes taken up the habit of smoking, hes neglected his aunt and uncle who have raised him when his parents died, and treats his old friends like crap. In other words, Peter found himself in the complete opposite status that he was before he was bitten; hes been consumed by his greed and lust for popularity. He stops caring and starts believing that everyone is below him.
Upon being cheated by Bock, the talent agent, he allows a burglar to get away with stolen money out of pure ignorance. When Peter arrives home he finds that his Uncle has been murdered and that the killer was the same person he had failed to stop before because he let his own beliefs of being superior get in the way. It was his fault that his Uncle is dead and this hurts him more than a bullet wound ever could.
Uncle Ben has always believed that one small man could make a difference and that with great power there must always come great responsibility. At Bens funeral, Peter makes a promise to live up to his Uncles expectations for him and that he would live by his moral standards. He becomes Spider-Man, but this is much more easily said than done.
Responsibility is a journey. Throughout life there are various obstacles that lead us astray and challenge our beliefs as well as doubt ourselves. This is the same for Peter. His first encounters end with a sad note for Peter, he feels that he has failed and consults his Uncle via his conscience one last time. Ben tells Peter that he must learn how to cope with what has happened to him and that he cant save everybody.
The series leads Peter into many obstacles, some ranging from simplistic events to complex conspiracies leading him ultimately into the heart of the real New York City. Peter has to learn heroism, self sacrifices for the better good, accepting a loss and dealing with a constantly changing world. When he put on that mask and made a promise to his uncle, he knew that his life would change forever. His goal now is to try to adapt and become the man behind the mask.

The world in which the characters live in is not a great place. New York City is now a place filled with tragedy, loss and despair. Forever to be linked to the frightening reality of terrorism because of the infamous attack on 9/11; the city is slowly rotting away and crime is gradually rising to power. These are times in which the world needs a hero, someone to believe in, someone who can stand up to the big man also referred to as The Kingpin. Few businesses are not somehow involved in illegal activity, straight cops who fight for justice is rare and newspaper companies will do whatever is needed to get a story, even if that means neglecting personal privacy. Spider-Man represents hope for the city; he represents the idea that justice is still present and alive.
There are two worlds that are represented in the series. The lightness and hope of the world is represented by Peter, the color scheme is bright and lively. The Parker Home is the ideal family home, it is a beautiful house surrounded by a white picket fence, its prosperous and surrounded by loving neighbors. The inside of the house is very conservative, sky blue wallpaper, a wooden dinner table and a family room where the whole family could have sat. The cellar of the house is filled with boxes of hand-me downs, an opening that has a beautiful view towards the night sky and moon above, a chalkboard table and neatly placed cob webs. Midtown High School is also a relatively beautiful surrounding and atmosphere as well.
The Osborns color scheme represents the darkness and hidden darkness found in the city. A Victorian mansion, filled with expensive furniture and technology, sports cars parked in the garage, and rooms that hardly anyone has ever been in. Its a mansion in which someone could get lost in, because the Osborns are just one piece of the complicated puzzle of corruptness found in the city. The labs of Oscorp is colored with a steel exterior, with neon blue, green and purple outlining all of the equipment and machines found inside. Harrys specific areas are lighter in tone, however as the story progresses this will also start to deteriorate.
New York City has become a place of uncertainty. Peters surroundings are filled with hope and the remaining beauty found in the world around us. While the Osborns surroundings are dark and have material objects everywhere. As the series progresses, these color schemes will blend together as Peter is brought further into the world that is New York City.

When Peter Parker was five years old his parents died in a plane crash and for most of his life he has never understood who his parents were or why this had happened to them. His Aunt and Uncle readily adopted him with embracing arms and he has always felt love when he was around them. Uncle Ben had a lasting impact upon Peters life, he instilled in Peter all that he knew and all that he believed in. Peter was never a popular kid, most of his life he was engulfed in conducting his various science experiments which didnt bode well with the other students. Peter wasnt like them, thus they couldnt understand him and began to mock him. When Peter was five years old, Gwen moved in across the street, she was the first girl Peter had ever fallen in love with and the only girl that he had these feelings for. To him Gwen was perfect in every way, she was the girl he would some day marry and start a family with. Unfortunately, Peter was always shy. He did get around to becoming friends with Gwen, due to the urging of his best friend Jason Lonello, but he never did express how he truly felt.
Freshman year of high school has began and Peter is still the quiet kid sitting in the back of the room pondering the formula for various elements and asking how he could possibly manipulate them in a unique and distinct way. His arch enemy of the years has been Flash Thompson, the most popular guy in school who has always had the loving affection of Gwen! Peter is sometimes labeled as the Stephen King student of the school, the one most likely to go insane. But, Peter doesnt care what the rest think he knows that he has two supportive friends, a loving family, and that knowledge will never fail him.
In the beginning weeks of High School Peter is bitten by a radioactive spider and gains new and special abilities, his personality also takes a turn for the worst turning him into the type of person he would usually dread to stumble across in the halls. A month has gone by and Peter has become a notable basketball player for Midtown High, has neglected all of his family and friends and has taken up the habit of smoking. When Peters uncle dies, he realizes that it was his fault. He makes a promise, changes his ways and becomes Spider-Man in hopes of redeeming himself for his past sins. The part that terrifies and haunts Peter the most though is that this other personality that he took on, was who he really is inside.
Peter gradually becomes more active in the community, learns that there may perhaps be another side of Flash Thompson and that life was never as bad as he thought it was. Hes overcome his fear of challenging the bad guys around him by resorting to ridiculing his foes and remembering what his Uncle had taught him. When Harry Osborn was a child his mother, had tried to teach him about acceptance, generosity and love. This went against everything Norman believed in, he was as strict a father as he was a husband. Norman would berate his wife and this often led to some form of physical violence. When Harry, five years old, was walking through the hallways, he heard banging noises and his mother screaming, he stopped outside of the door and waited. When it opened, it revealed a frowning Norman Osborn yelling at his son, asking what he was doing there. The next day was his mothers funeral and Harry has never been the same since.
Jump forward 15 years and Harry Osborn is a millionaires playboy son who has one night stands with cheerleaders and his own array of butlers and cooks! His father looks down towards him, seeing his actions as often being immature. Harry doesnt care about what his father thinks, and this may in fact be a way that he rebels against his father for the torment he had to put up with when he was a child. Norman has never been there for him and has never treated him even remotely like a son. Part of Harry wants to make his father proud, while the other part hopes that he would die a painful death. When Peter later questions Harry about his relationship with his father, Harry often related it to the now clichéd example of the Manson family Christmas special. Norman, instead of spending time with his son, resorts to sending him to psychologists and group sessions in hopes that his son will finally get well! Harry has even resorted to insisting to not be called Mr. Osborn, because it reminds him too much of his father. In another episode when discussing the father/son differences Harry states that his father is a genius only when it comes to science, not people.

Unfortunately, similar to Lex Luthor, Harry will never have a chance to shine his true colors because he has already been corrupted by his father and will travel down the path and into damnation. Norman Osborn came from a trailer trash family; his father often abused his mom and would ridicule his son as being an embarrassment to the family name. Normans father was the school athlete when he was in high school, strong and stupid in his case. Norman was never strong, he was always a fragile boy looking for his fathers acceptance but never attaining it. Norman would study for long hours of the night, hoping that one day he might make his father proud of him. At school his rival was Richard Parker, Peters father, a man who rivaled Norman in his genius. During this time Norman also met and fell in love with his future wife, who was from the same trailer park and also from a broken family. Finally he found someone he could be himself with. Norman did make something of himself, he became a rich millionaire and his parents and past somehow completely disappeared from public knowledge and record.
Norman had a son, Harry, who he wanted to raise to be a strong man, not someone who was strong in heart but in motivation and will power. His wife had other plans, but she too would perish and fade away into the past. Norman has spent his years with his son using him as a token politically and sending him to far away private schools to get his son as far away from him as possible. Norman never truly cared for his son, only for the maintenance of himself and of his business.
It is redundant to state that Norman will one day become the Green Goblin. But, this transformation will not take place for some time yet, purposefully. Instead it is important to show that even without the identity of the Green Goblin, Norman Osborn was always a monster. Norman only cares for himself; he takes bizarre pleasure in others pain and suffering and will always do whatever is necessary to ensure his successes even if it means murder! It is possible that he is in some way connected to the Kingpin, but it is also possible to state that his corporate rival Justin Hammers is also under the Kingpins pocket. Nonetheless, Norman does prove to be a worthy rival and foe for Peter Parker. Even though, eerily as it sounds Peter was the closest thing Norman would ever consider to be his son.

GWEN STACY
Gwen is the typical girl next door; shes beautiful, smart, nice, witty and strong. Unfortunately for Peter she is also dating his arch enemy Flash Thompson! Although Gwen often stands up for Peter and is always there for him, Peter wants Gwen to be more than just a child hood friend. She was raised in the perfect nuclear family model, her father is an honest cop and her mother was a stay at home mom that always guided her throughout her life. But, soon this nuclear family will also have to deal with its own share of problems and sadness that will bring Peter and Gwen closer together due to having gone through the same experience.
GEORGE STACY
An honest cop on the New York Police Department, who understands that the Kingpin owns more than fifty percent of the district and is allowing criminals to walk away free; his mission is to attempt to stop the Kingpin, even though one day this may eventually lead to his death. George has a loving wife and daughter, but will soon go through a depression and start taking up alcoholism to attempt to stop his agonizing pain. George is very reminiscent of Lieutenant James Gordon from the Batman comics, in that he is always there for Spider-Man when he needs him and acts as the inside man and the side of justice.
BEN URICH
Ben Urich was a reporter for USA Today, when he was first starting out he would do anything to get a story anything. Unfortunately, he also broke many laws and disregards the personal feelings of others while getting these stories ultimately leading towards his downfall. His wife died, he lost his job and lost all of his friends due to his habits of lying and treachery. Learning the hardest lessons ever, he eventually landed a job at the Daily Bugle. Although he would agree that his editor, Jameson is a prick he does not proclaim it because he is scared of what would happen if he ever did. He finds potential in Peter and acknowledges that Peter may be a lot more than he is letting on.
BETTY BRANT
Bettys dream is to become a famous reporter, similar to her father who is currently working for TIMES magazine! Her father has been business affiliates with Jameson for a while and ensured that his daughter get a secretary position there to help get her into the news room and further her goal of becoming a reporter, like her father. Initially she is only friends with Peter, but eventually the two fall in love; Peters first actual girl friend.
J.J. JAMESON
Long time editor of the Daily Bugle, this always angry and yelling manager of the Bugle will do anything to get a story. Even if that means disregarding personal privacy! Jameson is disliked by most of his employees and he has a personal vendetta against Spider-Man because he is jealous that the web slinger is someone that he can never be, an honest fighter for justice. Even though Jameson raised a healthy and handsome astronaught son, who has seemed to attained attention from the local teenage girls of Midtown High School.
JASON LONELLO
Jason is Peters best friend and they have known each other since childhood. Even though Jason is now a high school football athlete, he still finds time to hang out with Peter. Always interested in what Peter is up to and offering shelter when needed. At first glance youd think the two were brothers if you didnt know who they really were.

Bettys dream is to become a famous reporter, similar to her father who is currently working for TIMES magazine! Her father has been business affiliates with Jameson for a while and ensured that his daughter get a secretary position there to help get her into the news room and further her goal of becoming a reporter, like her father. Initially she is only friends with Peter, but eventually the two fall in love; Peters first actual girl friend.
J.J. JAMESON
Long time editor of the Daily Bugle, this always angry and yelling manager of the Bugle will do anything to get a story. Even if that means disregarding personal privacy! Jameson is disliked by most of his employees and he has a personal vendetta against Spider-Man because he is jealous that the web slinger is someone that he can never be, an honest fighter for justice. Even though Jameson raised a healthy and handsome astronaught son, who has seemed to attained attention from the local teenage girls of Midtown High School.
JASON LONELLO
Jason is Peters best friend and they have known each other since childhood. Even though Jason is now a high school football athlete, he still finds time to hang out with Peter. Always interested in what Peter is up to and offering shelter when needed. At first glance youd think the two were brothers if you didnt know who they really were.

Welcome to SPIDER-MAN: THE SERIES. First I have to say thank you to all of my team that has come on to help me with this project: Zev, Webmistress_04, Sentinal_08, MarvelMovies, and LuxAeterna. In addition to other writers that had accepted to be part of the team, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts such as Detective Flass, Spider-Bat, and Squirrel. Hopefully well see you in the second season.
I worked very hard on this project and hope it shows. This was my first time writing on a small project, which I have Broc Landers (over at comingsoon.net) to thank for. He told me to start with smaller projects and work your way up. Since I started on the PILOT the film screenplays that I have written on the side have dramatically improved. Thanks for your piece of advice.
Smallville aired in 2001, developed by the very creative Al Gough and Miles Millar. I have them to thank for the inspiration at how to adapt a high school comic book hero into a live action television series. And thank you Michael Brian Bendis for your Ultimate Spider-Man comics which brought fans back to knowing where Peter Parker started, bitten by the fateful radioactive spider in high school at Freshman year. Cant wait for your game. Thanks Sam Raimi, your films were also an inspiration. And Avi, if your reading this- thanks for bringing the Marvel properties to screen and someday hopefully Ill have the pleasure of working with the various talents over at MARVEL. But, I also have to thank the various cartoons, incarnations in comics, and even video games.
And, who could forget the person that receives the greatest thank you of all- Stan Lee. The creator of the characters we have all come to love over the years. Whether its Spider-Man, Daredevil, Hulk, Fantastic Four, X-Men, etc. Stan has created a marvelous universe for the Marvel universe. The characters in the world- connected to each other, and their various interactions. This also plays a part in the series, the series takes part in this universe and uses it to its advantages. Even if its as small an appearance as Karen Page, seeing where she started before becoming the secretary to Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson.
I am in my Senior year of high school, and looking back I can see that it was a journey of discovery. I matured a lot throughout these four years, more than I had thought once I entered through the double blue doors and into my future. I become more responsible, due to the various life obstacles that I came across through my daily life. I made various friends, and had my own adventures. Now, its time for a new chapter to begin. Another teenager to enter high school, his name is Peter Parker.
Peter is your average kid, hes not overly popular, nor is he a science nerd. In his first week at high school he is bitten by a spider that would change his life forever, in ways that he would never have foreseen. He will go through life changing obstacles, he will see where he came from and he will become a hero that we all know and love- despite the various Jameson attempts at labeling Spider-Man as being the villain. So, sit back and enjoy SPIDER-MAN: THE SERIES begins now.

INT. OLD ABANDONED ACME WAREHOUSE- NIGHT
At first the screen is black, we can see nothing but pure darkness.
VOICE
Dont hurt me please- dont
The voice was coming from that of a frightened man, all of a sudden BAM!!! We hear the sound of A BODY BEING THROWN AGAINST A BRICK WALL, bones CRACKLE.
VOICE
God save me
The camera begins to move away from our obstructive view due to a large stone pillar, now we can see whats happening The warehouse, cold and decrypt. A man on the ground leaning against the right wall, WHIMPERING for his life. Standing above him, is a figure cloaked in complete shadow. Holding a car above his head, aiming towards the whimpering man.
SPIDER-MAN (V.O.)
Life is full of mystery, of changes, of love and of death. Sometimes it is hard distinguishing what you were meant to be. A white light encompasses the screen blinding our sight. We hear the sounds of police SIRENS outside and WHIRLING helicopters blades.

EXT. MIDTOWN HIGH SCHOOL
2 WEEKS AGO
Trees rustle in the howling wind, students walk up the stone stairway leading to Midtown High School.
INT. MIDTOWN HIGH SCHOOL- HALLWAYS
Inside the ceilings and floors were made out of large chunks of stone, while the walls were made out of the same bricks used on its exterior. Leaning against one of the lockers is FLASH THOMPSON, a football quarterback and senior at Midtown. Flash was currently talking to his girl friend, GWEN STACY, a freshman. On the other side of the hallways was PETER PARKER, timid and shy. Thick black-rimmed glasses are perched on the bridge of his nose. He wears the last sweater vest in America.
PETER
Hey Gwen I just want to know if, maybe, you wanted to go see a movie or something might be fun no, that sucks.
Peter GLANCES BEHIND HIS SHOULDER seeing Flash and Gwen flirting
PETER
Ah, forget it- shell always be just my friend why would she want a schlub like me when she can have Captain Caveman there? It just was never meant to be Pete.
Peter rounds the corner and is about to pass Gwen
GWEN
Hey Pete.
Peter stops. His blood runs cold and his hands begin to nervously jolt about.
PETER
Oh
(tries for cocky voice)

(gives up)
hey Gwen.
Trying to act suave, he tries to lean against the locker his sweating palms making his hands slip.
GWEN
So hows those science projects of yours going?
PETER
Oh, well, theyre
Peter slips and bangs his elbow against the locker. Flash laughs. Gwen shoots him a look.
PETER
Whoah Im fine I mean, theyre fine. Everythings fine.
Gwen smiles, giggling at Peters innocence
GWEN
Tell your Uncle that Ill be by sometime tonight to pick up the neighborhood fliers
PETER
Huh?
GWEN
Didnt he tell you, Im going to be helping with the neighborhood charity event this year- arent you?
Pete scratches the back of his neck and tries to play it cool.
PETER
Me? Yeah- you bet, wouldnt miss it for the world.
FLASH
Yeah. Its going to be fine, huh Pete?
Flash smirks; Peter looks towards Flash mad and then he turns his attention back towards Gwen and shrugs.
PETER
So Ill see you there?
GWEN
Yeah see ya.
Peter walks away, he looks back towards Flash and Gwen wondering
FLASH
Why do you even pay attention to him?
GWEN
I knew him since I was five Flash, what do you expect me to do? Break off all contact just because he isnt the coolest kid at school.
FLASH
Well, actually
GWEN
Youre not serious are you?
FLASH
Just tell me are you doing this out of charity or because you actually like him?
GWEN
Hes my friend, I dont bother you about your friends do I?
FLASH
(agreeing)

Flash hangs his head. Peter watches from a distance maybe he did have a chance. Flash kisses Gwen and Gwen doesnt fight back. Peter sighs and begins to walk away. INT. OSBORN MANSION- DINING ROOM
The mansion was from a different class and setting than the low class architecture of Midtown High School. This mansion belonged to the Osborn family. The room was surrounded by wood, the long table in the middle was stretched almost the length of a football field. On one side sat HARRY OSBORN, 18, bold, outgoing, handsome. And on the other side of the table sat his date for the evening, a Globetrotters Cheerleader, blonde, ditzy, his type of girl and her name, if it even mattered was ALISON. Not surprising, the first words of their conversation were
ALISON
Wow youre rich.
Harry grins and nods his head.
HARRY
So I take it youre impressed.
ALISON
Totally impressed.
HARRY
Good, I thought youd like it. Ancient Roman architecture actually, it was shipped over here- agh About two years ago to be exact.
ALISON
From Rome?
HARRY
No, from Africa.
ALISON
Really?
Harry GRINS wider and nod his head, yep he was right most of the time hes always right- well, in this matter of topics, science his fathers field was another ball park.
HARRY
No it wasnt.
ALISON
You had me there.
HARRY
Got yah
Harry stands up and walks over towards the other side of the table to sit besides her, his hand FLIRTATIOUSLY touches her arm.
HARRY
You know, if you think this is amazing you would probably be more impressed with the fifth floor.
One of the many butlers walks in and clears his throat. Harry glances behind his shoulder and sighs out, ok bad timing.
BUTLER
Its your father sir.
HARRY
Tell him Im in a meeting.
Harry looks back towards Alison and smiles.
BUTLER
Sir, with all due respect your father already knows that there was no meeting today, nor any meeting for the whole month.
Harry frowns and looks up towards the Butler.
HARRY
You ratted me out?
BUTLER
I did no such thing sir
HARRY
(under his breath)

Harry stands up and is about to enter through the kitchens double doors when he stops and looks back towards Alison.
HARRY
Sorry about this, Ill be back ok.
Harry exits through the double doors.
INT. OSBORN MANSION- KITCHEN
Harry walks through the elaborate, high tech kitchen area where the food was currently being prepared by professional cooks. Harry stops and looks down towards a pot of pasta he takes a whiff from the rising aroma and smiles looking towards the main chef he finishes it off with.
HARRY
Keep up the nice work Stew. Looking great already.
He continues to walk and enters into
INT. OSBORN MANSION- CONFERENCE ROOM
A man in his mid forties is projected over a massive plasma screen television set. Harry tries to look excited.
HARRY
Dad hows business?
NORMAN OSBORN, 45 years old, slicked back brown hair and a solid military stance looks down towards his son, both literally and emotionally.
NORMAN
Having another rendezveu Harry?
HARRY
I have no idea what youre talking about father.
NORMAN
I sent you out there for work, not pleasure- if I wanted to do that I would have just sent you to Hawaii and be done with you
HARRY
Why didnt you dad? You know I would have enjoyed the free trip to paradise.
NORMAN
Sometimes I wonder if youre truly my son. Menken has reported back to me with Oscorps New York statistics and I have to say, I am deeply, deeply unsatisfied. It seems that ever since you took over, product income has decreased by 80%. Youre making me look like a fool Harry. I knew I would regret trusting you. You have to learn responsibility son.
HARRY
I am responsible dad.
NORMAN
I built this company from the ground up when I was around the same age you are now. Its time you took your rightful place in the world, were business men son not racketeers that whisk off in the middle of the night to have sex with some random girl.
HARRY
Youre giving me too much credit, first I have to lure them to my irresistible sense of Osborn charm and dignity. This mansion is a babe magnet alone- I have you to thank.
NORMAN
One of our many business rivals just arrived in town this week.
HARRY
Yuma Corp., leader in the field of Radiology.
NORMAN
Im surprised, you do have a brain after all theres a science exhibit being held tomorrow night. I want you to be there, I want to know everything: blue prints, fields of expertise, top scientists anything you can dig up.
HARRY
Dad, Im pretty sure thats illegal.
NORMAN
What isnt these days son? Dont let me down again.

INT. SCIENCE HALL- RADIOLOGY EXHIBIT- AUDITORIUM
The room was filled with all sorts of science experiments, ranging from the practical to the bizarre and unordinary. Peter walks through the room, looking at the experiments- but his eyes were elsewhere, pointed towards the stage all that could be seen were two large objects covered by a brown drape. Where as, Harry Osborn took a different approach to the exhibit; unlike Peter, he was here on business a job that he would have loved to have gone without. Wearing the Oscorp badge he wanders around attempting to find out information from anyone he bumped into. Peter, mindlessly and in a dream like stance begins to walk towards the stage. While Harry Osborn, was walking towards the stage looking back towards the recent contact. Harry and Peter stumble into one another

Peter kneels down and picks up his glasses.

Revealing two high powered beams, sort of like mini satellites with red power fuses on the outside and next to the one on the right was a fan connected to the satellite piece by a single cord.

Now, with a touch of a button I will transmit the radiation beam, down over to that generator over there thus generating enough power to heat up the electricity source to make the fan turn. Shall we begin?
Miles presses down on a remote control and the radioactive generator begins to whirl above was another anxious onlooker, someone curious and lusting for the red glow it begins to crawl down slowly, web zipping down, making its way slowly, slowly towards the red beam of radioactive material. And then it DROPS and gets caught in the beam, the fan begins to power up the afraid SPIDER hurls itself away and GRASPS onto Peters arm

Aghh!!!!!!!!!!!
Peter drops to the ground, beginning to fade out into a seizure. Harry kneels down looking over him.
HARRY
What the hell?
Everyone looks on in amazement

Peter lays on a hospital bed, he sits up squinting his eyes, he could see perfectly- without his glasses. Thats weird. He looks around the eerily empty room.

He looks towards the door to see a green like swampy fluid flowing towards him. He lowers his feet to the floor, the green substance slowly TRANSFORMING into webbing GRABS onto his feet as he stands up and attempts to move. After several attempts, he RIPS FREE. And then, he can hear it quiet at first, but gradually LOUDER and LOUDER. Small feet scurrying through the vents above it STOPS.
ANNOUNCER
Dr. Grant to room 2W5, Dr. Grant to room 2W5.
Peter looks towards the room vent on the wall corner to his left and spiders SHOOT out towards him.

EXT. ACME WAREHOUSE- AFTERNOON
Dante looks up towards the massive warehouse in front of him it was old, broken down. Spray paint is written all over it. He begins to walk towards it, the sound of the waves crashing against the docks, in the back of the warehouse. He opens the door to the Acme warehouse and walks in.
INT. ACME WAREHOUSE
The warehouse itself looked like an abandoned garage, columns stood up from the ground car parts lay off to the side entire cars, windows shattered, bent up and dented with wheels that had been stolen years before. It was a shame to see valuables like this left to rot. It was however surprising that there were no squatters taking residence. His eyes scan around no one. He notices a gun on the floor. Dante walks over towards it, bends down to look at it. He reaches for the gun and he sees the abbreviation R.W.
DANTE
Dad
He picks up the ammunition and sticks it in his pocket stands up and aims the gun towards the wall BAM! A round shoots into the wood and BLASTS a hole through. This place was unsteady.
EXT. FOREST HILLS- AFTERNOON
Peter continues to walk alongside of the sidewalks home, Gwen catches up to him.
GWEN
Hey hey
Peter stops and looks behind his shoulder.
PETER
Hey Gwen.
GWEN
I heard you went to the hospital.
Peter shrugs
PETER
It was nothing just a routine procedure.
Gwen shakes her head ok.
GWEN
So, you still didnt deliver the fliers.

If I stay here any longer- Ill explode, were the first thoughts that poured into Bocks head after having to stay through more than 4 hours of auditions for talent search night at the Madison Square Garden. He looks down towards the people aged 17-50. With various thought to be talents and others who were just there to jerk the agents chain. Bock felt trapped watching one miserable person after another. His cell phone rings and he urgently answers it, whew- at least this will divert my attention.

BOCK

EXT. NEW YORK CITY- AFTERNOON
The Song Be Yourself by Audioslave begins as the camera rotates around the city, for the first time we can see it its depth its glory its light its dark its gray. The Statue of Liberty stands tall, standing for truth, justice and the American way. The Twin Towers monument stood high, representing a new life. This was New York City, the city that shouted you can break us down, but we will stand back up again and fight. The city of crime, the city of justice. Here no one sleeps.
EXT. NEW YORK CITY STREETS
Peter walks along the sidewalk, glancing all around. He no longer wore glasses. He didnt need them. He stops at the corner, sees a walking sign and begins to walk across. A car didnt notice it screeches as Peter JUMPS OVER IT AND LANDS. Peter glances around, everyones eyes were on him. Everyone noticed him the car was safe, he was safe he liked this feeling, not the safety- the love. He lusted in it.
EXT. NEW YORK CITY DARK ALLEYWAY
Peter stood examining his hands, he looks up towards the wall back towards his hand here goes nothing he puts his hands onto the wall and begins to crawl up. He crawls up fast, very, very fast he was now in his element, the most comfortable he had ever felt in a while. His speed, his strength, his agility was amazing he was practically running up the wall. Far beyond human capabilities. He double flips off of the wall and lands on his two feet. He looks up towards the sky above. The sun reflecting in his eyes. He begins to climb up the tallest building reaching the top in mere seconds. He jumps up the rest of the way, grabbing onto the edge of the roof he swings himself onto it as though it was a gymnastic bar. He looks down towards the passing cars and breaths out.
PETER
Sooner or later I will have to face it
(steps closer towards the edge)
Conquer it
(steps once more closer)
Kill it
Peter steps towards the very edge and looks down, he closes his eyes and a web line zips out of his hands
PETER
There is no longer any reason to be afraid, not now, not ever again. Im above it, everything unattainable is now beneath the sky beneath me
Peter swings out and over the cars towards the building opposite him and he climbs up the rooftop looking down over his last feat.
PETER
A new life.
Peter at first motions to not accept it, but could not hide his passion its my time, its my time to be popular. He grins and begins to run off, hurtling over the rooftops so fast that anyone barely noticed he was no longer a man, he was a spider. In its purest form, also the most dangerous. He had no fear, no worries.
INT. MID TOWN HIGH SCHOOL- HALLWAYS
Peter walks through the hallways at a rapid pace, trying to conceal his excitement when all of a sudden his arm starts to jolt, once again Peter stops walking forwards
PETER
Flash, you know that time I challenged you to a fight.
Peter looks towards Flash with anger burning in his eyes.
PETER
Today- after school, senior parking lot.
FLASH
Is this a joke Parker?
PETER

EXT. MID TOWN HIGH SCHOOL- SENIOR LOT
Flash sends his fist forward towards Pete, Peter dunks under the arm as though it was nothing!

Peter wears more expensive clothes, he had traded his old ones out for the new look the new Peter. Spiky hair, black muscle shirt with a silver chain wrapped around his neck, sneakers and jeans. Gossiping was obviously floating around, as everyone looked towards him, girls giggled, guys frowned girls began to clutter around him. I think I will like this. He no longer paid any attention to Gwen, girls were now just an object they were all below him. Everyone was below him. Jason walks up to him and Peter just grins, shrugging as though it was nothing.
PETER
He deserved it

The bullet hits the clerk, who was no older than fifteen.

The announcer walks out and grabs Peters hand and holds it up.

The audience begins to chant his name, Peter smiles. One person who takes notice is Bock. He rubs his hands together. Peter looks out in the crowd and he can see Bock nodding his head approvingly.

Peter walks through the hallway. Bock appears from a corner wall waiting for him.

The lights are out all over the Madison Square Garden
ANNOUNCER
We were told it didnt exist we were told there was nothing to fear we were told it couldnt happen.
A light shines above and we can see Spider-Man, in the true professional looking black symbiote costume, standing next to a web and then he drops down from the sky and flashing lights go off everywhere, as well as a cloud of smoke sweeping over the audience. Spider-Man begins to walk forwards towards the ring red and blue lights dancing around the arena.
INT. BOCK'S OFFICE
Bock counts a small fold of bills. He looks at the camera and does a wink-and-click thing.
BOCK
Bigger.
INT. LATE SHOW
LETTERMAN
There seems to be a new brand of action sweeping over Madison Square Garden a creature by the name of Spider-Man. He has agreed to make an appearance on tonights show
The lights dim and then we can see Spider-Man standing on top of the rafters above, he jumps down and attaches a web to the ceiling and swings forward over the audience.
INT. BOCK'S OFFICE
Bock counts a larger fold of bills. He looks up at the camera and does the does a wink-and-click thing.
BOCK
Bigger.
INT. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN- WRESTLING TOURNAMENT
The cages were up at Madison Square Garden, the wrestler was trapped in the ring crawling along the cage was Spider-Man. It was obvious that the wrestler wasnt told about this which in turn caused his current fright.
WRESTLER
Who are you?
Spidey drops down from the cage above landing in a crouching position.
SPIDER-MAN

The lights in the whole arena begin to go into over drive, it was no longer a show it was gladiator entertainment. The crowd around him cheer him on
BOCK (V.O.)

JUMP CUT:
The wrestling ring stood high, lights of red and blue darting all around the arena. Bock looks out towards the ring from the alcove above.
BOCK
Its time.
ANNOUNCER
Ladies and Gentlemen, youve heard about him youve talked about him youve had nightmares about him hes half man, half spider you love em, you hate em ladies and gentlemen I humbly give you
The arena goes pitch black and then lights hit upon Spider-Man entering the arena.
ANNOUNCER
The Amazing Spider-Man!!!
Bock grins
BOCK
Go and get me my money my money
Spider-Man walks towards the ring and enters.
BEN (V.O.)
Peter, you have to learn that with Great power there must always come great responsibility.
PETER (V.O.)

EXT. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN- NIGHT- RAINING
Dante sneaks around the back, takes out his gun and shoots the lock to the back open and walks in.
INT. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN- ARENA
Spider-Man kicks both feet out and the wrestler goes down for the count. The announcer looks up towards Spider-Man checking the wrestlers pulse and shakes his head no Spider-Man drops his head, tears for once, for a long time coming out invisible, but evident.
ANNOUNCER
Raise your hand youve won.
Spidey still looks down towards them.
ANNOUNCER (CONTD)
It was in his contract, same as yours and every other wrestler. Youve won
Spider-Man shakes his head no.
SPIDER-MAN
Not tonight.
Spider-Man exits the ring and Bock stands up and bangs his fist against the wall.
BOCK
What the hell you tryin ta do to me kid!!!
INT. BOCK'S OFFICE
Bock places bricks of cash into a wall safe. Wink. Click. PAN 180 degrees to show Peter standing in front of him, maskless and with a coat and boots over his spider-suit. The Montage ends.
PETER
I'd like my cut now.
Bock frowns.
BOCK
What do you mean, your cut?
PETER
Well, I made that money. I was doing all the work, you just
BOCK
I just cashed the checks for you. So you could keep your precious secret identity.

BOCK

Dante runs out of the office, carrying a money bag. Peter, waiting at the elevator, looks back. Behind Dante, Bock stumbles out of his office.

Stop him! He's stealing my money!
Bock takes off after Dante. Peter presses the call button on the elevator and steps out of Dantes way. The elevator doors close. Peter waves goodbye as Bock catches up.
PETER
Bon voyage! Au revoir! Adiós! Auf Wiedersehen!
BOCK
What was that! All you had to do was trip him! Now he's gonna get away!
PETER
Life's a *****. Get used to it.
He does the wink-and-click thing at Bock.

Peter stands in the doorway looking towards his Aunt and Uncle.

I just got off the phone with your coach. He didnt have practice today. I bet if I check, he won't have had much practice scheduled on the days you've been out. Whats happened to you Peter? You fall asleep in class, your grades are slipping

We were told it didnt exist we were told there was nothing to fear we were told it couldnt happen.
A light shines above and we can see Spider-Man, in the true professional looking black symbiote costume, standing next to a web and then he drops down from the sky and flashing lights go off everywhere, as well as a cloud of smoke sweeping over the audience. Spider-Man begins to walk forwards towards the ring red and blue lights dancing around the arena.
INT. BOCK'S OFFICE
Bock counts a small fold of bills. He looks at the camera and does a wink-and-click thing.
BOCK
Bigger.
INT. LATE SHOW
LETTERMAN
There seems to be a new brand of action sweeping over Madison Square Garden a creature by the name of Spider-Man. He has agreed to make an appearance on tonights show
The lights dim and then we can see Spider-Man standing on top of the rafters above, he jumps down and attaches a web to the ceiling and swings forward over the audience.
INT. BOCK'S OFFICE
Bock counts a larger fold of bills. He looks up at the camera and does the does a wink-and-click thing.
BOCK
Bigger.
INT. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN- WRESTLING TOURNAMENT
The cages were up at Madison Square Garden, the wrestler was trapped in the ring crawling along the cage was Spider-Man. It was obvious that the wrestler wasnt told about this which in turn caused his current fright.
WRESTLER
Who are you?
Spidey drops down from the cage above landing in a crouching position.
SPIDER-MAN
Im Spider-Man
The lights in the whole arena begin to go into over drive, it was no longer a show it was gladiator entertainment. The crowd around him cheer him on
BOCK (V.O.)
Bigger.
JUMP CUT:
The wrestling ring stood high, lights of red and blue darting all around the arena. Bock looks out towards the ring from the alcove above.
BOCK
Its time.
ANNOUNCER
Ladies and Gentlemen, youve heard about him youve talked about him youve had nightmares about him hes half man, half spider you love em, you hate em ladies and gentlemen I humbly give you
The arena goes pitch black and then lights hit upon Spider-Man entering the arena.
ANNOUNCER
The Amazing Spider-Man!!!
Bock grins
BOCK
Go and get me my money my money
Spider-Man walks towards the ring and enters.
BEN (V.O.)
Peter, you have to learn that with Great power there must always come great responsibility.
PETER (V.O.)
This is my life, not yours!
Spider-Man nods his head yes
SPIDER-MAN
My life.
EXT. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN- NIGHT- RAINING
Dante sneaks around the back, takes out his gun and shoots the lock to the back open and walks in.
INT. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN- ARENA
Spider-Man kicks both feet out and the wrestler goes down for the count. The announcer looks up towards Spider-Man checking the wrestlers pulse and shakes his head no Spider-Man drops his head, tears for once, for a long time coming out invisible, but evident.
ANNOUNCER
Raise your hand youve won.
Spidey still looks down towards them.
ANNOUNCER (CONTD)
It was in his contract, same as yours and every other wrestler. Youve won
Spider-Man shakes his head no.
SPIDER-MAN
Not tonight.
Spider-Man exits the ring and Bock stands up and bangs his fist against the wall.
BOCK
What the hell you tryin ta do to me kid!!!
INT. BOCK'S OFFICE
Bock places bricks of cash into a wall safe. Wink. Click. PAN 180 degrees to show Peter standing in front of him, maskless and with a coat and boots over his spider-suit. The Montage ends.
PETER
I'd like my cut now.
Bock frowns.
BOCK
What do you mean, your cut?
PETER
Well, I made that money. I was doing all the work, you just
BOCK
I just cashed the checks for you. So you could keep your precious secret identity.
PETER
That was your idea.
BOCK
So it was. Here's the thing, we never signed a contract. You got no proof that this was ever yours.
PETER
Give me my money!!!
BOCK
What are you going to
Peter shoots a web attaching Bock to the chair by his neck. Bock laughs as he just takes out a gun and aims it towards Peter.
BOCK
The same rash, unthinking flaw of the parasite you represent.
Peter stares towards him and releases his grip.
PETER
Dont walk up any dark alleyways, Bock youll be sorry you did this to me.
BOCK
Oh, going to murder someone else?
Peter is about to attack back, when he notices the presence of someone else in the room.
PETER
I dont think Ill need to.
Bock grins
BOCK
Lifes a *****.
Bock puts the gun away and the door slams shut, he looks back up
BOCK
Hey, what the hell
Dante points the gun towards Bock.
DANTE
Open the safe.
INT. HALLWAY OUTSIDE BOCK'S OFFICE DAY
Dante runs out of the office, carrying a money bag. Peter, waiting at the elevator, looks back. Behind Dante, Bock stumbles out of his office.
BOCK
Stop him! He's stealing my money!
Bock takes off after Dante. Peter presses the call button on the elevator and steps out of Dantes way. The elevator doors close. Peter waves goodbye as Bock catches up.
PETER
Bon voyage! Au revoir! Adiós! Auf Wiedersehen!
BOCK
What was that! All you had to do was trip him! Now he's gonna get away!
PETER
Life's a *****. Get used to it.
He does the wink-and-click thing at Bock.
INT. PARKER FAMILY HOME- MAIN ENTRANCE- NIGHT- RAINING
Peter stands in the doorway looking towards his Aunt and Uncle.
BEN
Where were you, Peter?
PETER
Practice.
BEN
I just got off the phone with your coach. He didnt have practice today. I bet if I check, he won't have had much practice scheduled on the days you've been out. Whats happened to you Peter? You fall asleep in class, your grades are slipping
PETER
And?
BEN
Peter, you have a great gift. The gift of intelligence. And when you have that kind of power, you have a responsibility to not just waste it selfishly, but to use it to make the world a better place.
PETER
I hate your stupid lectures!!!! Im more powerful than most of the people alive, and yet you still treat me like Im just a child.
BEN
Peter.
Peter shakes his no.
PETER

Peter walks away.
BEN
