Comics Spider-Man Trivia Game

Yep. I bought Marvel's "Spider-Man Marvel Encyclopedia Vol. 4", and my investment is paying off. Most of the questions i've come up with by simply reading that book. Plus, i'm learning soooooo much by writing all these quizzes. Most of the quizzes i wrote before this (which are on my website under the "games" link in my sig) had to do with the movies, since i know the movies like the back of my hand. I'm hoping in time i will have just as many "classic" Spider-Man trivia questions as i do movie trivia ones. The hardest part about writing these quizzes is having editors pick through each question and critique my work. I'm enjoying that challenge the most.

That new quiz was great, thanks! I had 9/10 only so the questions were superb! :yay:

And I think I have a solution for the quiz cheats... I send a pm to you.

And I have 10/10 today, too but comicmonkey with 40 seconds so I won't win.

Yes... he must be really popular with the girls... :whatever: :whatever: :whatever:

:yay:

I do believe he has a "split personality"....split 7 different ways, if you know what i mean. :whatever:

As for the PM, i replied to your PM.

This is ridiculous.... a new user signs up for the first time, gets a perfect score averaging 3.3 seconds per question.

:whatever: :whatever: :whatever:

It's enough to not bother playing anymore because some people feel the need to cheat.

:cmad: :cmad: :cmad:

:csad:

I've never done this trivia game before, but thought I'd see what all the fuss was about. Kinda fun.

Took the last two quizes and got a PERFECT score each time... even though I guessed on a couple of answers by process of elimination. :yay:

But what is the deal with the time mentioned? I know I took awhile... I'm a thinker. :cwink:

The guy currently leading this day's tournament got a perfect score in 33 seconds, which means he took 3.3 seconds per question to read it and guess all the answers correctly.

Rather impressive if you don't think the guy's cheating...

Today's tournament? Oh... I was only looking at the quizes krazykop posted... obviously need to look around more...

*follows another link*

Oh, I see... took today's quiz. Confusing. If you can't figure out WHICH part of the Spidey-verse they are referring to it's hard to answer.

Like... I thought the answer they have for 5 was wrong... and then I realized they were talking about the first MOVIE. Opps.

Oh, and that guy must be cheating. You're right. It ruins the fun.

"Comicmonkey" and "Hello" have been deleted from the daily tournament member list for cheating in the daily tournament games. Two other user names were also deleted from the game because those names were being used to research the answers. Unfortunately i cannot ban them via their IP address because they have a dynamic IP. Doing so would ban everyone with that internet host. And one of those who share the same host also belongs to this board, and i'd hate to ban them simply because someone else in their IP range was cheating.

From today on, anyone getting a perfect score with a time under 50 seconds will be removed, especially if they haven't built up an honest reputation via here or the game. Its simply impossible to read all the questions and ace the answers in that timeframe. If i suspect you cheated in order to win, i'll simply remove you from the game. This has been going on too long, and its time for me to put a stop to it.

When i deleted one of the obvious cheaters, those dates were also deleted from the weekly winners list. I don't have control of the server, so i can't research to find out who the real winners for those days were. So if there are dates with no winner, its cause i couldn't track who the next-in-line member was.

If you know who actually won the highlighted games below, then let me know so that i can update the list correctly. Unfortunately i do not have access to the server the information is kept on, so i have no way to research to see who actually won once i deleted those members.

Yay, KrazyKop! Layin' down the LAW! :yay:

He's crazy, and he's a cop....

He's KrazyKop!!! :word: :word: :word:

:yay:
...And "He's" also a "She" :wow: ...or at least i was last time i looked. :woot:

its ok. everyone assumes i'm a dude. i'm use to it. i never looked good in heels and a dress anyway. :hyper:

The REAL question is: Are you really a Cop? :yay:

Ok, by clicking the players' profiles (of those that play the most often), you can see their scores, the time it took, as well as the final points.

From this observation of the main 10 users that play, I've tabulated the "potential" winners of the days in question. I put potential in "quotes", because there might have been a day where somebody made a one time appearance and won it outright, but I don't really recall anything like that happening, and I've played every day since the end of May.

And KrazyKop, you can verify these results if you'd like... it took me about 20 minutes and a little graph chart where I could write everything down.

It's MY opinion that the following players deservedly won the days in question...

July 6th, 2007 - Mets2007 (10/10, 61 seconds, 939 score)

July 5th, 2007 - traveller (10/10, 72 seconds, 928 score)

July 4th, 2007 - CaptainStacy (10/10, 74 seconds, 926 score)

July 3rd, 2007 - Themanofbat (10/10, 51 seconds, 949 score)

July 2nd, 2007 - Themanofbat (8/10, 127 seconds, 673 score)
( :wow: :wow: :wow: really tough day, lots of low scores :csad: )

June 26th, 2007 - traveller (10/10, 82 seconds, 918 score)

June 24th, 2007 - traveller (10/10, 42 seconds, 958 score)
( :wow: LOTS of 10/10's with low times that day, and I believe he did it in 42 seconds :yay: )

June 22nd, 2007 - Woody_Woodpecker (10/10, 81 seconds, 919 score)

I think you should make these "official", but it's your call.

If anybody wants to verify the scores for those days, please do so, as I could have easily made a mistake.

Cheers...

The REAL question is: Are you really a Cop?
Nope, i'm not one of those either. I'm simply crazy 'bout men in uniforms...especially if they carry handcuffs in their pockets. :hyper:

...I refuse to embarrass myself any further than revealing that info. :wow:

Those scores and names look about right. Darn near perfect, and thank you very much! I've gone ahead and updated the scrolling menu with the winners for each of the dates effected.

Awesome... will the wins and/or points be reflected in any of the Standings groups?

Handcuffs, eh? :wow: :wow: :wow:

:cwink:

Awesome... will the wins and/or points be reflected in any of the Standings groups?
As far as i can tell, it won't effect the monthly winner that much, since monthly wins are based mostly on total points accumulated throughout the month, rather than on amount of wins.

It will, however, reflect on the daily points everyone received during those 8 days, but only because everyone received less points when the cheater gained them. When i removed them from the game, their points were erased as well. The points disappeared rather than being dispersed to each player during those days.

At the end of the month, if there is a tie within the points, then the computer will use the amount of wins and times to decide on the tie-breaker. If such a tie does happen, then it will be a factor. But people having point ties doesn't happen often, so there is a slight chance it will effect the month-end standings.

At the time the cheater was removed, they had like 900 points or something like that. Those 900 points simply are gone, and no one got them. Even if the cheater returns to the game, he/she will start out at zero because any history of them playing was erased. Unlike message boards, the admin panel of the game doesn't allow me to ban by user name, and only allows me to ban by IP number. Because of their dynamic IP, banning them would mean banning everyone who uses their service provider. So my only alternative was to erase their playing history, which removed them from the game along with all the points they accumulated. It would be nice if the system was set up differently to accommodate for such an occurance, but its not, and simply erases everything tied to that person. If they do return to the game, i will simply remove them again, which will also remove any points they gain. But so far they haven't returned, so maybe they got the hint with the "shout out" message i left on the game page.

Handcuffs, eh? :wow: :wow: :wow:

Thank you, themanofbat. The scores and the credit, too. :yay: :cwink:

Ouch. Got two wrong. Should've only got one wrong. I picked Vermin instead of Harry Osborn. 670 points. Yay.

Hey KrazyKop, can you make the above adjustment for June 22nd, 2007?

I checked his profile, and he has (as far as I can tell) the highest score for that day.

Not for long, if all those irritating movie questions continue:)

If I get that bus # question again, I'll either give-up or maybe remember it next time...Same thing with Toby's eyes, past movies, and his favorite root vegetable,

LOL @ the bus and eye questions. Some of the category questions do tend to repeat themselves. I requested information about when and if the tournament questions will be updated. So far, no one at fun trivia has answered me. Here is the thread in which i posted my question: {click for link} Feel free to poke them a bit in that thread too and let them know its a question of great concern.

Hopefully i will get an answer, because there are TONS of Spider-Man questions on their site, but only a small handful available to play in the tournament with. As the trivia tournament admin, i find it quite annoying that i can't seem to get more questions when they in turn have so many available. I agree, repeated questions over and over again gets tiring after a while.
